《The Awakened World》Vol. 2, Ch. 49 : Now he's on the agenda!

"Argh! Zat vas ein pad idea. Halt! In zee name of zee Germ- I mean, in zee name of Docdor Graffes!" A, umm, pale man in a Nazi uniform shouts at us in a heavier German accent than Emma; still English though. How pale is his skin though? That's almost a sickly gray at his point. And his eyes. They're pitch black all the way through. Oh, I should probably mention that he has a gun pointed at us too.

"Heh. Hello, I see you just jumped through the window. We do have a door though," chuckles Sophia. Her passive attitude visibly confuses the Nazi as he squints in her direction.

"Vo are vu?!" He pauses for a moment, then says, "Vo am I?" Sophia takes advantage of his moment of confusion as she decides to shove her fist through the Nazi's head. The brain inside splatters over the wall, and the Nazi slumps down; his eyes returning to a normal look though staring into the distance.

Sophia stares at the open air for a second. "Strange notification," she remarks. She uses her foot to hold down the body of the Nazi and slides her hand out of his skull.

"He's an undead. A zombie. He may have some memories, but it seemed obvious he's missing some and has had others overwritten," she explains.

"Yeah, he partially mentioned the German Empire. I think he thought it was still the 1940's." Looking at the matter splayed over my wall, I can only say one thing about this.

I'm billing Sophia for the cleanup.

"He also mentioned, 'Docdor Graffes.' I think he meant Dr. Graves—the necromancer." Sophia simply states this as if it were a known fact, which it might be for all I know, and leaves my apartment. I trail after her to find her already at the stairs.

"So now what?"

"Now, we defeat Nazis that are fighting a long-gone war." The articulate her point, Sophia threads a soldier that was running up the stairs and squeezes him until he pops like a balloon.

I should be feeling grossed out by this. Probably should be scared of Sophia too, but I suspected some mental illness for a while now. If I'm not grossed out or even offset by seeing a man explode from spider threads then something might be very wrong with me.

At least I'm aware that I shouldn't be feeling this way.

We exit the building on the first floor. Sophia looks over to our left where an active crime scene is taking place. The officers on duty are visibly confused at the simultaneous deaths of both a Nazi and a Lizard beast-man. Both having a gunshot wound to the chest.

Sophia and I speed-walk away with the intention of avoiding attention. Luckily, the officers become too occupied to notice us. Specifically, it's due to the tank that's now charging down the street.

"We…should probably take care of that," I suggest to Sophia. She nods in concurrence and we charge at the tank with no plan whatsoever. This is a very bad idea. Too bad that I'm already running at it though.

*BANG!* The tank fires.

I let instinct take control as I perform a flip over the incoming shell. Wait! Holy…uh, guacamole. Did I just do that? I don't think I've ever performed a flip before.

[ Through repeated actions skill: Acrobatics(Minor, Passive) has ranked up to Acrobatics(Medium, Passive) ]

Oh yeah. That- Uh, that explains it.

"ARRRRRGH!!!" A terrifying, guttural scream bellows from within Sophia as she walks up to the tank and pries the sheet metal off with her bare hands. That's correct, she didn't even put her exoskeleton on. Honestly, if I didn't just see her shove her fist through someone's head earlier then I would be terrified of her.

However, she decided to paint my walls pink and red, so I'm already good.

She pulls out two pale Nazis out of the tank, both of them cursing her, and she swings them down into the pavement. The ground beneath us cracks like an egg and splits in every direction.

I lift up a Nazi from the gunning seat, or whatever it's called, and stare him in the eyes. He scrambles for a grip as my hand tightens around his neck. He sputters, "M-Masked-d V-Volf! S-S-Sbare me! Bleaze!" I tilt my head questioningly. Silently. Hmm, I face racism and sexual harassment quite a lot. How cathartic would it be if I killed one of the most racist groups in history?

*Snap.*

[ You have killed a level 1 "Undead Remnant" x 1. 5 experience points gained. ]

Hmm, not as relieving as I would like.

Does this count as my first human kill? Well, he was an undead. He was also a Nazi. So combined that means he was barely even biologically human; a dead one at that. I get it doesn't really count if you think about it that way.

"So, I guess we have a tank now." I lean on the barrel of the tank and look into the hole Sophia dug.

"Correction: had. We had a tank." Sophia pops out of the hole with shards of metal falling off of her. "I seem to have barreled through the engine. This thing is a hunk of metal now."

I grunt in acknowledgment. Now what are we supposed to do? The city is probably crawling with Germans and the guild won't be of much help. Well, maybe the heroes that helped with the bug raid might help—with the exception of Hyper Thunder cause screw that guy.

Sophia turns to look at the shell-shocked officers staring at us, mouths agape.

"Hello. Would any of you be willing to send a message for me? Please?" Sophia attempts to look cute to sway the officers. This has no effect as she is wearing a mask and these three just saw her dig into steel and are no doubt afraid.

Two of the three officers run into their car and speed off into the distance. They plow over four Nazis in the process. The final officer looks at us, steels his confidence, and pulls out his gun.

He points the barrel at us.

"Well, dang," I say as I put my hands up. Sophia does the same. Looks like we have a crooked cop. I don't know about Sophia, but I'm not exactly bullet proof. I wouldn't put it past Thomas to make the armor bullet proof, but I really don't want to take any chances.

He pulls the trigger. *Bang!* A bullet zooms—

—past me.

And straight into the head of an undead.

He sheaths his gun and walks over to us. He stretches out his hand and introduces himself as, "Officer Cooper. Nice to meet you."

I take his outstretched hand and get a good look at his face. He doesn't really seem to smile, but that may be due to the large scar that goes up his left cheek towards his ear. Thing looks like it pulls his skin back, so any smile looks more like a smirk. "Silvernight."

"Space Weaver."

He stands back and places his hands on his hips. "Sorry 'bout the whole gun-pointing thing, it's just, I've always wanted to do somethin' like that." He gestures to the collapsed corpse with a bullet lodged in the skull. "So what message do you need to send and where?"
