《Let's Play: Chronicles of Zurefgar》Intermission: Humans

It is always a wonder for me as to why humans are the most picked race in Zurefgar. Until I tried using the race, of course. At first, I thought that the much or less same physiology and size of your real body would make it much easier to adapt to. That was not wrong, in fact, it was one of the factors.
However, the other factor was one of their exceptionally powerful racial passive abilities, [Obnoxious Adventurer] and [Resilient Challenger]. The latter increases resistance to disabling effects by 10% which is a standard good passive ability no matter the situation. Getting free from such effects earlier is definitely beneficial.
Now, if that is not overpowered enough, [Obnoxious Adventurer] gives something much better. It increases the effect of healings done on the human character by 7.5% which applies to both healing from abilities and items. Out of combat, the effectiveness of recovery items are increased by 30%. This would enable a human player to level up more quickly since their downtime would be 30% less than other races, or you can say they can save up enough money by using lesser cost items for their healing. On top of that, if any of them have healing abilities, they can stay in the fight much longer.
There is barely one hit kill situation in both Zurefgar and Clashing Realms, thus getting more effect from healing is definitely one of the most overpowered abilities out there. It reduces the stress from the team’s healer and also makes keeping yourself alive easier. And a living player means a player that can do their stuff.
Wow, really. Talk about human favouritism here.
Oh, just to add, humans also have the [Shield and Sword] passive that, well… enable them to use shields and swords regardless of class. I mean, this would even increase human player survivability no matter what kind of class they picked. Krysta actually had one of those magically imbued shields that serves as both defence increasing and attack amplifying item.

Anyway, humans got all the classes available barring the race specific ones. Though we can choose either type of paladin, our racial passive ability is the same for both types. [Stalwart Believer] increases our resistance to disabling effect by another 5%. Yeap, it is added on top of [Resilient Challenger] granting a total of 12.5% of resistance. One eight of the time might not seem much on paper, but in practice, it means a lot. That split second difference is enough for us to cast a protective or countering spell.
[Tactical Advantage] is the passive for human warriors which makes it easier for the player to block or parry an attack. [Honed Expertise] gives their hunter an increased accuracy and critical strike chance of ranged attacks, causing most human hunters to take the Hawkeye path.
As we all know, their rogues are famous for the [Illusory Dust] which enables them to have mirror images. A famous rogue named Rielle actually pushed this ability to its limit by projecting five mirror images at once.
Human priests got an interesting effect with [Enforced Discipline], which gradually empowered the type of magic they are using as long as they kept using the same kind. For example, they will slowly get more extra healing and shielding done as long as they avoid using shadow magic and vice versa. Interestingly enough, their warlocks had the opposite effect with [Maddening Greed]. This passive increases their damage over time as long as they keep changing spell type. Yes, Rina… I mean Esferta, is abusing this by continuously switching between her own curses, a shadow magic spell, and Sid’s curses which technically counts as summoned demon spells.
Finally, their wizards receive [Arcane Ingenuity] which reduces the cost of a spell as long as it has a secondary effect.
Owh… I forgot to talk about their history and lore. Uh… I do not know much and did not listen properly to my deskmate. From what I know it was some kind of: humans made a kingdom, then politics happened, then orcs happened, then politics happened, then undead happened, then there was politics, then revenge on the orcs happened, then politics again after politics.
I mean… ugh, it is mostly politics, really.

Anti-Hero: Journey of Fear
There is a story where the hero makes friends, completes quests, and saves the world. This is NOT that story. In the VR world of Fate: Experience Acute Realism, the main character cuts his way through both the players and NPCs alike. This story takes a close look at how a true full immersion VR would be played. The setting is an open VR world where the players struggle to survive with a lack of knowledge and the NPCs panic in regards to the Travelers invading their world. The anti-hero of this story is cold and calculating. Sparing no one from his reign of terror he gives into occasional bouts of kindness before he is forced back on the path of blood and tears. For where there is a hero who seeks to bring people together to help the world move forward, there is an anti-hero who brings people together to seize the world for himself. WARNING: This story contains extreme violence, in every single chapter. This story contains references to sex, but no explicit scenes. This story has light to mild swearing. My chapters normally range from 4,000 to 5,000 words. This story does not contain happy endings, middles, or even beginnings.
