“Cynda Cyn-daquil“ The Cyndaquil agreed raising on of it’s paws. Brendan nodded, and he released the other pokéballs in his head. The Poochyhena was transported into the world like most Pokémon, and it was still hurt from it’s battle. It attempted to snarl viciously but all of them besides Cyndaquil thought it was cute.
“Hey Poochyhena. I’m sorry for the amount of damage you received but It’s okay. I’ll take care of your wounds” Brendan offered. The Pokémon stopped growl to listen to Brendan but it was still very cautious.
“I was wondering if you want to go on a journey with me. You see me Cyndaquil have been friends for a decent amount of time. He could attest that I’m a decent trainer.” Brendan pointed to Cyndaquil who shouted.
“Cyn Cyn da da cyndaquil”
“Pooch Po Pochy Poochyhena”
The both of the continued talking to each other.
The Cyndaquil stopped talking and looked up to Brendan and then back to Poochyhena nodding it’s head.
”Poochyhena, pooch” The Poochyhena seemed to agree to go along this journey and Brendan pumped his fist in the air and looked at Heath,
“I did it. Wooo”
‘This is not how I expected it to go.’ Heath thought.
“Congrats!!” Heath cheered. It was always a new step in a trainer’s journey to catch a Pokémon, and he was happy for his friend to take that step. Brendan dressed Poochyhena’s wound carefully as the blood had dried slightly. After a while Heath looked at the Pokemon holding back laughter as gauze and medical supplies, wrapped around her like a the dressings of a mummy. It was so bad that Heath had to redo it after seeing the Poochyhena jump around to get mobility
“There you go girl, sorry for letting you deal with that if I had any clue that he would do that to you. I would’ve caught you myself” Heath joked. Poochyhena licked Heath’s face and in return heath gave an oran berry for her to eat.
“Thank you!” The Poochyhena thank Heath which Heath took notice of being able to hear her.
‘Is it because she is friendly with me?’ Heath wondered. He looked at the newly caught Poochyhena for a while before Heath was tapped on the shoulder which brought him out of it.
“Get you’re own pokemon bucko” Brendan grinned. Heath turned around and looked at the Brendan strangely before shaking his head slowly and walking away.
“What? Heath…. where are you going? Heath, fuck.. ” Brendan threw out a pokeball and collected all of his pokemon trying to follow him. The two of them continued their journeys occasionally stopping for rest and breaks.
“You think we can make to the big leagues?” Brendan probed noticeably for their future as Heath wondered about the same things.
“I think you can do it. I have no clue about me if I’m being honest.” Heath confessed. He’s always felt slightly doubtful in his career. He hated seeing his Pokémon getting hurt and playing in the big leagues would mean a lot of failure and potentially a lot of scares.
“I feel the same way.” Brendan added. Heath looked at him strangely once again, and Brendan immediately shook his hands.

“No-no, I meant I think you can do it. My father thinks highly of you. Well somewhat he also called you a Virgin Brat. I’ve been meaning to ask what’s a virgin?” Brendan asked curiously. Heath cackled to himself for the inside joke between him and the normal type gym leader.
“Heath, tell me. What’s a virgin?” Brendan whined which only made heath belch in laughter. This went on for a couple of more minutes and took even longer for him to get oxygen back into the lungs.
“Alright I’ll tell you”
[Timeskip: 1 hour later]
“What the fuck.” Brendan shouted. Heath noticed the deep blush in his face as Heath had told him the devious licks that came with losing your virginity. Little did Heath know that Brendan was completely sheltered when it came to this types of things and so when he released the information, Brendan was completely shocked and disgusted.
‘At least he’s not too young right.’ Heath thought to himself. He looked at the boy in front of him walking extremely erratically and shrugged.
“Just one of many trial you will face this is.” Heath mimicked an old alien from another galaxy. Pretending to need a cane and rattle his hand as he pointed to Brendan who still visibly out of his mind. He saw Brendan turn around shake his head.
“What I-”
“What the fuck” Brendan repeated to himself. It was quieter than the first, and with that they continued on their journey with Heath missing music from his home world. He wanted to find some tunes on his PokeGear but with the lack of service, and the complete ignorance of the artisian practices of the modern world. he left the music and settled with the lofi of the forest, which he had coined ‘Forest Lofi’.
‘I could make this into a business idea.’
“Hey Heath,” Brendan called out.
“So you-”
“Don’t even bring that up, please I just erased the thought in my mind.” Brendan interrupted. Heath nod lackadasically, leading to looking at Brendan gesture to the sky.
“It’s getting a little dark don’t you think. You should start teaching me how to camp.” Brendan scratch his head. Heath looked at the sky before registering what Brendan had said.
‘Did he say, I have to teach him how to-’
“Are you telling me you wanted to go to on this journey, but you don’t have a clue of how to set up camp? What were you planning to do with then?” Heath scolded.
“What, are you telling me you immediately knew how to camp”
“Yes, I learned to set up a tent when I was-” Heath paused, remembering his past. He looked at a boy learning how to tent with people with maid and butler outfits by his side. But inside of his original body it was this one. He pinched his nose, and slowly let go. The visual hallucinated dissipated, and it was just him Brendan and the surrounds trees and shrubbery on a beaten path.
“Fine, I’ll show you but only this once” Heath warned. Brendan looked slightly concerned and Heath realized that the enthusiasm in voice had been lost in the monotone speech but with him visiting the memories of his past now and again. He just ignored it and looked for somewhere to make camp.

The two of them didn’t have to search long for a place to camp as they found various locations around the path to Oldale City, but not being satisfied. Heath found one that was far away from the others as he didn’t want a situation that could put him being discovered by people. He thought you could never be to careful. He had also decided they would just do something basic and rather than make a tent, they would just have a two hammocks to sleep above the ground with a tarp around each of them to avoid any chance of getting wet in the rain even though the satellite forecast had said that there would be no rain, Once he was done with doing his, He went on to help Brendan who was observing him,
“Alright so this is the main hammock pieces that are suppose to hold you up together and you need two piece of rope that will be the anchor to hold you up while connected to these pieces.” Heath showed the hammocks end, and then grabbed two decent pieces of decent sized rope and handed it over to the Johto Native.
“Alright,” Brendan Grabbed the pieces of rope and walk away to look at the tree pairs who could tie the rope too
“Right so now we need to connect them between two trees that a large enough to support you while also being a decent space apart.” Heath advise. Brendan went through a bunch of trees asking if there were a decent space amount and he would get it wrong a couple of time before finding a decent pair of trees.
“Alright so you take on end, and tie it around the tree… and like that. Okay and that knot is called a Falconer’s Knot. Now you take the carabiner.”
“Cara-what ner” Brendan made a strange face.
“The latch device, It’s called a carabiner. You have to snap it through to the tree knot” Heath guided Brendan while giving advice. He then monitored him for the second part which went slightly slower than the first time but with the lack of advise he was proud of the retaining amount of knowledge which would hopefully would increase with practice.
“So now the fire.” Heath huffed while Brendan smiled obviously proud of the growth he had made.
“Fetch me some stick about ya big and decent thickness. I need a bunch” Heath ordered. Brendan walked around seemingly confused about the instructions but got to work on collecting sticks while Heath looked at his pokemon’s info.

‘They’ve level up but it seems like the experience will be steep as the approach gold’s barrier’ Heath thought about getting a new pokemon but decided to just wait for when he felt a connection to a pokemon like he did Guts. He fiddle around with things, wasting time until Brendan finally came back to the clearing holding a bunch of sticks in his hand.
“Is this enough?” Brendan asked struggling to keep the sticks above at chest level. Heath stifled into a chuckle.
“Uhh sure, I guess”
“What do you mean I guess” Brendan question further.
“Why are you holding all of the sticks?” Heath asked.
“Where else would I put them.” Brendan replied confused. He voice stretch almost dropping the sticks
“You’re SSD?”
Brendan dropped the stick immediately while starting to chase Heath who dodge effortlessly not only did the training help him stay nimble and agile but he hasn’t done anything extremely physical all day besides walk.He also knew that this wouldn’t last long as Brendan would eventually stop out of being tired and annoyed. Heath then helped Brendan pick oup the sticks and then advised him of the orientation and structure to put the sticks in to start a fire. He then suggested Brendan to take out his fire starter to lit the stick on fire which Brendan agreed without a fuss and soon the two of them had everything prepared for nightfall.
“So we have everything done. Do you want to battle?”
“No”
“Please”
“No”
“Cause, I don’t want too. But I don’t want too.”
“So boring”
“Yep. So what’s the plan”
“What do you mean. Are we going to Oldale city, and then petalburgh? Or skip that and go straight to Petalburgh”
“I wanna check out Petalburgh. See the sites, apparently Oldale is having a celebration.”
“what for?”
“Apparently it’s been a year since they changed accomplished their status of City from Town. I don’t know. With being a town, they finally announced a new Gym Leader”
“What’s the gimmick”
“Apparently it’s a moral thing with him, His existence has been kinda a mystery to everyone who isn’t a you know a big shot.”
“Interesting,”
“So a battle before the light is out?”
“No.”
Brendan and Heath continued to bicker before the latter threatened starving the other for the night. Heath then cooked a decent meal with the older supplies that were in his bag which wasn’t great but He just wanted something simple instead of eating sleep for dinner. Like most of the journey they continued this pattern which Heath showing Brendan more and more, and Brendan battling more pokemon but Heath noticed that the approximate level for his pokemon didn’t grow at the same rate as his but he figured it had something to due with he special circumstances. After a half a week with good weather and a decrease of breaks they had finally arrived to Oldale City which now had decorations on the street lights and banners that littered the concrete and brick buildings of the area
