《The Magic Kings War》Enrolment Exam Part 1

Magic Training Arc.
After the confrontation with Binarc. Valoran makes his way over to the main building.
Outside the main building, he sees other applicants standing in a formation.
In front of all the new applicants is a podium. Lined up are all the professors from the academy.
An elvish man walks up to the podium and starts to give a speech.
"Greetings. My name is Aegnor Aldon and I am the headmaster of this Academy for the past 300 years."
"For the past 300 years I have seen many talented students from all kinds of races graduate" - The headmaster said.
"Here at the Halivaaran Magic Academy it is our duty to train and create the best magicians to protect the people from Beasts, Dark mages (magic users who use magic for evil), And also against Rouge Angels." - The Headmaster spoke.
"We have dispatched 1000 invitations all across the world to the most promising magic users all of you should be proud that you are standing here" - The headmaster said.
The headmaster and all the professors start to clap to express just how proud they should be to be allowed to take the enrolment exam.
"Before we start the exam note that only 100 of you will be permitted to join the academy. If applicants score the same points both will be accepted of course" - The Headmaster explained.
The headmaster left the podium at the same time a demon male walked up to the podium and spoke.
"My name is Amon Apolloyon. I am the assistant director. I will now explain how the exams work."...
"First. All 1000 of you will be split into 10 groups each group containing 100 applicants. From there you will be taking a written exam. The duration of the written exam is exactly 1 hour. Applicants who do not finish will automatically fail" - The assistant director explained.
"Hmm. Seems like the assistant director is much stricter compared to the headmaster" - Valoran thought to himself.
"After that, you will take a practical exam. This consists of us measuring your magical power using a magic crystal which determines how strong your magic is. You will also be fighting one of our professors."- The assistant director said.
"Huhh" "How's that fair?" "We can't win against professors" - Applicants are asking in shock and frustration.

"Don't worry we do not expect any of you to beat any of the professors. You will be fighting them to demonstrate if you are worthy to attend our academy by showing your magic. If you do manage to impress the Professors, it will increase your chances significantly of getting accepted at the academy. "-The assistant director said.
" What a relief"... " I was so worried".....We just need to impress them"-The applicants said in relief.
"Seems easy enough" - Valoran thought to himself.
"Alright then in your invitation letter you also received your group number(between 1-10). It is located at the bottom right corner. Please line up in front of the billboard which contains your number."-The assistant director said.
With that, the assistant director left the podium.
" Looks like I am in group 3. "-Valoran said to himself.
Valoran walks to the billboard with the number 3 on it. He lines himself up with the other students in the line.
A fox demi-human female professor steps in front of the applicants...
"Alright, applicants my name is Professor Elaine Asparata I will be supervising your written and practical enrolment exam. Please follow me." - Asparata said.
As they walk inside the academy..... They witness how huge and stunning the school's interiors are.
"Wow...." "It's so beautiful here" - The other applicants said while being astonished.
"A nice academy. As expected from the top-ranked magical academy in all of Halivaara" - Thought Valoran to himself.
The 100 students in group 3 are led into a giant hall room with 100 seats by the professor.
"Alright. Please all applicants find yourself a seat. Once you did that please wait until I permit you to start the exam" - Professor Asparata said.
As Valoran and the rest of the 100 applicants make their way to find a seat he notices something....
"Anti magical circles."-Valoran whispered to himself.
"I am sure most of you noticed. There are 100 magical circles. 1 one each of your seats. This is to prevent cheating using your magic. We also cast a barrier which completely seals off all magic to fully ensure that no one will cheat" - Professor Asparata said.
"A valid effort. I can easily break through these precautions but that wouldn't be right" - Valoran thought to himself.

Valoran walks to the front row and takes a seat.
"Ok then I can see that all of you have found yourselves a seat." - Professor Asparata said.
"Let me explain everything before we start..... The duration of this exam is exactly 1 hour. Applicants who do not finish the exam will automatically fail. Applicants who do finish before the time is up, please come forward without being too loud hand me the exam and then you can leave and walk around the campus or go to the cafeteria until everybody is finished. Signs are placed to direct you to the cafeteria"-Professor Asparata said.
"The total score that you can achieve is 100 points try to answer as many questions as possible. Each of you also has spare feathers and ink in case you require them" - Professor Asparata explained.
"Alright the test begins now" - Professor Asparata said.
The room turned quiet. Everybody opened up the test paper and grabbed their feathers and started answering the questions.
"Alright then" - Valoran thought to himself and opens his paper too.
5 minutes later Professor Asparata finished walking around the hall to make sure that no one carried any information crystals or any other ways of cheating.
Professor Asparata sits down on her chair keeping a close eye on everybody when...
.....Valoran has gotten up from his seat and starts walking towards the front.
The other applicants raised their heads and looked towards the front and Valoran.
"No way" "He's done already? " " Must be too hard for him" "I guess he can't do it" - The other applicants thought to themselves.
"I guess that applicant is not enrolling here. It's a shame he is good looking and cute." - Professor Asparata thought to herself with a smirk smile on her face.
Valoran hands over the exam.
She takes the exam from Valoran.
With her smirk smile still present she opens up the exam fully expecting it to be blank with no answers.
At the same time, Valoran makes his way over to the door to leave the hall.
However, her smirk smile quickly faded away as she sees that every question has been answered.
"What every single question has been answered" - Professor Asparata thought to herself in shock
While reading through them she realised that the answers were beyond perfection they were so good that even she could not come up with them.
"I can not believe these answers are so brilliant calling them perfect would be an insult I never thought of those" - Professor Asparata thought to herself in even more shock.
She was so blown away by the answers that she almost burst out in shock which could have distracted the other applicants during their exam.
She moves her head to the left to face Valoran who by the time was about to leave when she quietly said.....
"Wait up young man. Did you use any speed enhancement magic to accelerate yourself." - Professor Asparata asked curiously.
"I assure you. I will never sink myself to the point where I need to cheat. This was done with my speed alone. No magic whatsoever.... Besides, you have far too many anti magical spells. How could I have cheated anyway? " - Valoran said quietly with a straight face.
Professor Asparata took her eyes off Valoran and looked at the exam.
" Fine. You may go now"- Professor Asparata said quietly.
Valoran then proceeds to open the door and walks out the hall.
Valoran walks around the academy. He is amazed at how vast and stunning the academy is.
"This academy lives up to its name, being the number 1 magic academy. This place screaming discipline from the exterior and interior to the teachers and-..." Valoran said while being interrupted.
As Valoran was about to finish his sentence he got interrupted by someone.
" ....- It's students. "-A human girl said wearing the school uniform with the red band around her arms.
Valoran turns around to face 5 students from the academy in uniforms (2boys and 3 girls).
"I know you.... You watched me as I embarrassed that bully earlier from the window. Come to say hello?" Valoran said calmly with a straight face.
The girl then speaks and says.
"We saw what you did.... We just want to ask you a question" - The girl said.
Valoran is listening....

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Due to this, I will occasionally produce one shots or add on to existing one shots on this page. As such, do not believe too much of what I marked in the genre boxes. I will try and update as much as once a week but I procrastinate things like crazy so start out by hoping for by-weekly updates first.Welcome to McShot's Crazy House! I am Mr. McShot, the lord of this incredible house you are now residing in. In each door resides a different world with a different story. Of course, looking inside for too long may hurt your eyes so I will limit the amount of exposure. Plus there is food and magic aplenty. May there be something to your liking.
