You have directly contradicted the wishes of your god.
You have no patron.
[seraph’s wisdom] removed
[life wing] removed
New classes available!
You have unlocked every prerequisite for the [oathbreaker] general class!
You are now damned
Oh. That’s what happens.
“So, My Hope, where are we?” Joe stood over the body of his dead inmate.
“Sh-” My mouth shut out of its own accord, stopping me from forming intelligible words, as usual. I heard my name be called in the distance. I put away my sword, then picked up the slate and began to scribble with all my built-up hate onto it, {I just got damned.}
“Excuse me?”
{I am going to hell when I die}This is what happens when I fulfill your true wishes, Seraph? Well, more than likely it was the triumvirate’s decision to screw me over, so I pointed my rage towards them, {Because I chose not to kill the [drake] I am going to hell.}
“Sh-Oh, jeez, Saya-Uhh...” he seemed to want to comfort me. Maybe he had a few things mixed up about me, from the way that I balled in that place, but I don’t need consolation... “Yeah, I don’t know what to say, kid. Welcome to the club...and you’re mute still, so...” he sighed, “Thanks for getting me out of there, My Hope. Maybe someday we will get those losers back.”
Yeah. Losers, that’s what I’ll call the gods. I don’t need no patron! I wrote on the slate of cobalt and gave him a hearty smile {Yeah, I don’t need any loser patron!}
He chucked, “So we can talk about this later, but isn’t someone calling for you?”
I heard the sound of Maladrain calling out my name.
We rushed outside. On top of the alcove, Maladrain was yelling out my name. When he saw me, he nearly lost his balance, but [balanced footwork] didn’t let him trip off the top of it. “Woah! err, kid, what’s going on?” he jumped down from the top and landed with the grace of a cat, “You started talking weird, then you just vanished in a beam of light! I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
{Long story short, the triumvirate of gods pulled me into court then} wipe(which took a long time since it wasn’t a good slate), write, {Seraph asked me to kill the [drake] but didn’t want me to so then} wipe, write, {I didn’t and now I’m damned and no longer have a patron.}
He was speechless. Good, someone else can relish in my everyday life.
“Oh, and I’m Joe. Nice to meet you, I’m eighty-seven years old.” He held out his hand to shake Maladrain’s.
“Uhh-er-wh-what?” Maladrain said.
“You’re about as clueless as both of us. Your friend here just lost her patron. Speaking of which, where are we and why is there a [cobold] corpse on the ground?”
“We fought them and killed them. So you are telling me that over the course of twenty minutes, Saya spoke to THE triumvirate of gods, then disobeyed her patron?”
{Yes.}
“...Should I do something or...”

“No, I think it’s business as usual from here on out. Maybe My Hope should try to un-damn herself or something. In the meantime...” He stretched and smiled, “I think I might leave, go explore the world again. Being cooped up in a godly realm for sixty years gives you such a crick in the neck.” Disappointing he wanted to leave, he would be a good ally.
Maladrain took a few deep breaths, “Well, I guess gaping in confusion won’t fix anything. Why don’t we go hunting?”
We stalked a fawn that was drinking at the stream. Maladrain had his crossbow aimed at it, about ten feet closer to it than we were, then shot at it, hitting it in the neck. It tried to run away but fell a few moments later. Maladrain let me finish it off with my [decapitaion] skill(which was useless since it has no armor, but whatever). After I killed it, my menu log popped up. I noticed that my level had actually gone up from contacting the triumvirate.
Your prayers have been answered by the triumvirate of the gods!

You gained 1 Exp for speaking directly with your patron!

You gained 1 exp for hunting a large animal!
Wow, I really never killed a deer before? That puts me at...level 9, 12 Exp
“You know, I could get the [lawyer] class if I wanted to, now.”
I looked at Joe.
Maladrain responded, “Oh, [lawyer]?”
“Yeah, I got some Exp for defending My Hope in court.”
“Why do you call her that?” Maladrain put a net he’d found in the [cobold] lair around the deer’s body, then began dragging it out of the path, towards our current encampment.
“Hey, she asked for it, and she was my only hope of escape outta that place.”
I looked between the two. They were pretty similar, all things considered. They worked well together too. Joe began helping Maladrain drag the body.
“Heh, so th’ chief asked you to call er’ ‘My Hope’, nice one, Saya.” He gave me a wink.
“Yep. Pretty much. So, how’d you two meet?”
“Oh, adventurer stuff. She wanted to help me fight The Mudmule.”
“‘the’ mudmule? Why would you fight a mudmule, they are pretty tame animals.”
“Wait, you mean you’ve seen one before?”
“Yeah. I mean, I lived in the desert most of my life, where mudmules live. Twas’ a [bandit captain] fore’ I started treasure hunting.”
“Not the most reputable, are you?”
“Not at all. I’d like to say I’ve changed my ways, though.”
“If you weren’t Saya’s friend, I might distrust you, but I’ll keep my reservations.”
“Appreciated.”
If it isn’t obvious, I’m an ‘introvert’. I don’t like to communicate when there’s more than one other person talking, I mean, It’s not like I can actually talk to people when they converse together, so I just kinda...lurk.
A while later, we arrived at the alcove. The [drake] had actually walked to the alcove and seemed to be waiting for our return. I vaguely wondered if it had ‘imprinted’ on me-I was likely the first being it laid its eyes on. It was still gnawing on a piece of cobalt.

If Maladrain wanted me to care for it, then I may as well. The two placed the body down in the cave, then continued their idle chat, and Maladrain went to grab more firewood so that we could rest in the alcove itself. Joe began preparing the meat. I was quite hungry, myself.
I sat on the [dragon] pedestal and patted my thighs, beckoning the [drake] to come over like a dog. To my surprise, it waddled over to me in response, clearly still learning how to walk. I picked the small thing up and placed it beside me. I attempted to take its cobalt away, but it refused to let go, like a dog with a rope. I tugged as hard as I could, and eventually, it lost the tug of war, falling on its back.
You gained 1 Exp for caring for a monster’s needs!
I pulled the lime-green ribbon, [soul cushion] from my hair, then commanded it to give the [drake] a pillow. The drake finally got onto its feet but was enthralled by the cushion, so it didn’t move anywhere. It looked pretty cute like that.
I walked to the treasure room, picked up the chisel Maladrain and the [master trapper] had used, and walked back to the drake with the cobalt.
After I sat back down, I began chiseling the stone, breaking it into small enough pieces for the small dragonoid to eat.
It gleefully accepted the shards of cobalt, raising its head cutely to snatch the shards from my hand, like jerky. as I finished feeding it the final portion of the chunk, I noticed it gained an Exp. Just two more and it’s level 1.
While I continued feeding my new pet, Maladrain and Joe were chatting more. I silently observed their conversations.
Apparently, Joe was actually a well-known treasure hunter in the past. He had the master class, [Delve], and would explore dungeons alone, or as a scout. The two had a lot in common. They were both rogues with ambition. At one point or another, though, they couldn’t keep tempting fate and tamed themselves, falling into society’s cogs eventually. It felt a little depressing to hear that. Was I exactly as Kvet said, doomed to never truly set a trail ablaze?
I had to hold back tears. The day was more exhausting than the last, even though I didn’t fight at all.
As Maladrain was halfway through cooking the meat, I realized the [drake] needed a name.
Whatever, I’ll just make some suggestions then leave choosing one to the audience.
“You really shouldn’t be eating from cobalt trays, Maladrain.”
“Oh, why?” Maldrain had finished cooking the meat and was about to place some on a cobalt tray similar to that of my slate.
“Cobalt is poisonous. One of my [bandit] crew got poisoned after we killed off a [cobold] lair. Apparently, he thought it was a good idea to season his food with it.”
“Why would anyone do that?”
“I dunno. I stopped being a [bandit cap]’ not long afterward. All I got were runaways and outcasts who had already given up on ambition. Teens do the stupidest things. I’m sure you two are made of different stuff, of course.”
“...” Maladrain and me both exchanged glances. I’d already figured he was a runaway like me when he started adventuring, but the awkward silence that ensued painted that picture wide and clear.
“Uhh...you two are the runaway types too, aren’t you...”
“Yeah...”
He clicked his tongue, “Am I a magnet for your types? I was sure My Hope was a princess or something, I mean who else would ask someone to call them that? An egotistical-”
I spoke with silence and a stare, “...”
“-a gentle, kind, welcoming young lady?”
Joe carved some trays out of wood, and we just ate off that. It was still early in the day, though. After another hour, the [drake] finally had 10 Exp from eating thee chunks of cobalt.
As Maladrain had explained with his great knowledge of adventurers, “[drake]s are some of the better companions an adventurer can ask for. They don’t eat normal food, but instead the metal of whatever their draconic lineage is-they are mineiores. Additionally, when they grow up they get to be a decent match for [wyvern]s, trading out the flight for more raw strength and much more loyalty”
[drake](unnamed) leveled up!
What class would you like your monster to take?
I write on my slate {tell me available classes}
[dark mount], [dragon], [dark apostle], [pet], [breeder], [mount], [legendary mount], [dragonborn]
I had been the one to raise it, so it must have gained some of my [oathbreaker] experience. Speaking of which, I needed to check my new [oathbreaker] classes. At this point, I can’t feel too bad about abandoning those losers in heaven.
[dark mount]: a creature usually ridden by an oathbreaker, a [dark mount] is capable of casting spells at higher levels, and is usually quite fierce and bloodthirsty as an opponent. The slowest mount class.
[dragon]: focuses on the abilities of its draconic lineage
[dark apsotle]: a creature with resistance to all forms of divine magic, and cast unique spells of great power. this creature will never obey the whims of an individual sponsored by gods other than its own patrons.
[pet]: this creature is given more sentience as well as abilities to relieve stress and entertain sentient creatures. high charisma.
[breeder]: is very apt at spreading its genes.
[legendary mount]: this creature is unlike any other in some way. Legendary classes level up at very slow amounts and may take a secondary class at level 10. Gains access to the [colossus] class
[dragonborn]: this creature becomes sentient and becomes apart of a scarce race of the proud and noble part-dragons who relish in the fighting, the Dragonborn. A demihuman class. [drake] is one-third dragon, one-third human, and one-third drake.
[drake] automatically gained the [mutant] class.
The readers may choose the class and name of [drake] in the poll below!

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
