“Hi Zane,” Zoe greeted the nurse. He was leaning against a different motorcycle than the SRM-4 he owned according to pictures she had looked up.

“Hey Zoe,” Zane returned the greeting. He nodded at Jimmy and Tommy. “Guys.”

“Zane,” Tommy said using the nurse’s name as a greeting.

“How are you doing, Zane?” Jimmy asked.

“I’m good.”

“Where’s your SRM-4?” Zoe asked. “I was interested in seeing it in person.”

“I don’t own an SRM-4 anymore,” Zane replied proudly. He fondly patted the bike he was leaning against. “I traded it in yesterday and got this beast. It’s a Sportster SR1.”

“Nice,” Zoe said walking around it. “I thought you wanted one that was all chromed out with the extended forks or whatever.”

“She’ll be in the shop next week to get customized.”

“Doc Brown gave you back your balls then?” Tommy asked. Zane frowned as Tommy grinned at him and the tension between them spiked.

“I do what I want,” Zane replied standing up straight.

“Tommy,” Jimmy said in warning. Losing Doc Brown’s services was not something Nucky would by happy about at all.

“Relax Jimmy. I’m just teasing Zane and he knows it.”

“Is your Sportster the reason Doc said she wanted to see my bike?” Zoe asked to force the men to stop their posturizing.

“Yeah. It is a little too big for her,” Zane said grinning. Jimmy and Tommy grinned at the innuendo. Zoe shook her head.

“Wait. Doc rides?” Zoe asked in disbelief.

“Some. Riding is one of the things we have in common and is in fact how we met. She has an aging SR-660 and is wanting to upgrade. Claire is considering getting a Sportster too. She drove mine yesterday, but wants to check out what Knight has done,” Zane replied.”

“Then you should have brought her with you. I would have allowed her to test drive a GT4,” a woman’s voice said. Zoe and the guys turned in the direction of the voice. A tall, dark skinned, slender woman that Zoe thought was about 30 faced them. She smiled and pointed at Zoe before extending her hand. “You must be Ms. Blanco. I’m Kristine Simpson, your Knight Industries sales representative.”

Zoe nodded and took the woman’s hand into her own to shake. “Nice to meet you, Kristine.”

“The pleasure is all mine,” Christine replied. “Please call me Kris.”

“Alright Kris. These three are my cousin Jimmy, his friend Tommy, and my friend Zane,” Zoe replied pointing at each man. “And you can just call me Zoe.”

“Thank you, Zoe. I guess they are here to make sure I don’t screw you over or some such?”

“Jimmy and Tommy are. I asked Zane to come since he knows more about motorcycles than I do.”

“Nice to meet you Kris, I’m Tommy Romano,” Tommy introduces himself smiling at the saleswoman and taking her hand after Zoe shook it.

“It’s nice meeting you too,” Kris replied pulling her hand away. “That goes for you Jimmy and Zane as well. Though, you’re not needed. We at Knight Industries pride ourselves on treating our customers fairly.”

Zoe accepted a message from Kristine and read it before blurting out, “Yeah, he does.”

“He does what?” Tommy asked.

“Nothing,” Zoe quickly replied. Tommy frowned.

“So, Zane. Why didn’t you get a real bike?” Kris asked quickly changing the subject. “That Sportster is alright, but only 121 horsepower? Really?” The saleswoman shakes her head. “A GT4 peaks at 165 horses.”

“Hey. Don’t talk bad about my baby. Once she gets customized, she’ll blow your GT4s out of the water,” Zane replied as he mounted his bike. “Just listen to this rumble.” He fired up the bike. It was loud.

“That’s the only thing Williamson still does well. Make loud noise,” Kris quipped winking at Zoe and the others.

“Argh!” Zane rumbled making the others laugh.

“Alright little sister let’s get you changed into your proper riding gear and pop your cherry,” Kris said to Zoe while leading them to the front doors. Jimmy nearly choked trying not to laugh while Tommy did laugh.

“So much for proper corporate salespeople,” Jimmy said.

“That’s the thing about motorcycle dealerships. They’re quite laidback,” Zane replied. “Even if they work for British snobs.”

“Too bad you’re taken and that I don’t swing that way. That was a good one,” Kris said. “And yes, we are a laidback lot.”

“Why did you call me little sister?” Zoe asked.

“Because you’re female like me and women need to stick together. Plus, you’ll find that the bike riding community can be rather close knit,” Kris replied. Zane nods his agreement.

“Did they get my sizes wrong?” Zoe asked herself as she checked out the way she looked in the mirror in the changing room. She was currently wearing the azure leggings and a yellow underlayer short sleeved shirt after having tried on a pair of the synthetic leather pants.

“Is everything alright?” Kris asked after knocking on the door.

“Um. Maybe,” Zoe replied opening the door a little.

“What’s wrong?”

“Why are the pants and leggings so tight?”

“Do you mind if I come in and see? Everything should match your sizes perfectly,” Kris replied. Zoe opened the door letting the saleswoman slip in. “Looks like everything fits like it’s supposed to. The clothes are supposed to be tight.”

“Really?”

“Yes,” Kris answered reaching for the doorknob. “Besides, they make your butt look great especially with the boots on.”

“Why would I want to show off my butt?”

“Why wouldn’t you? If Knight didn’t have a dress code, I’d wear my riding gear every day. In fact,” Kris replied lifting the helm of her jacket, “I wear as tight pants as I can get away with anyway. There is an old saying, ‘flaunt it if you got it’. You’ll find that most of the younger folk in the Big Apple believe in that even if they don’t know of the saying.” She paused. “If you really don’t like the clothing, I can order something baggier.”

“I’ll keep these. They might help distract anyone that wants to give me trouble long enough for me to use the pepper spray my aunt gave me,” Zoe said after a moment of thought. “Besides, you’re right. They do look good and are almost like jeans.”

“Those are much more durable than jeans. Do you need help putting in the armor inserts?”

“No thanks. I watched the instructional video and think I can handle it.”

“Alright. I’d go with the knee-high boots,” Kris said.

“I’m not used to wearing something so tall. I’ll go with the ankle boots for now.”

“Alright. Don’t forget to put on your jacket. It’ll look great on you,” Kris said before exiting the changing room.

“Looking good Zoe,” Zane said as she emerged from the changing room.

“Sure do,” Jimmy agreed. “You almost look like a proper biker chick.”

“Spin around,” Tommy urged her.

“Thanks guys. No Tommy, I don’t think so,” Zoe replied. Tommy smiled and shrugged.

“Ready to take see your Triple Black and take it for a test spin?” Kris asked.

“Oh yeah.”

“You’ll need this,” the saleswoman said holding out the helmet Zoe had ordered.
