Omake 43: Dio meets the Jojos (Jonathan)
I hadn’t expected to wake up in this circumstance, not when things the night before would have suggested I was free from any trouble.
A purely light-gray room, walls and floor. No windows, no doors (no way outs), no furniture but… a table with chairs. I was already sitting in one as I woke up, and in front of me sat a familiar face. Confusion as to why Jonathan would be there and… even more when he woke up and tried to attack me with a Hamon-boosted punch.
It looked like an instinct driven jolt, as if he had been utterly and absolutely confident I was the foe and… I quickly realized that this wasn’t my brother. Not with that much Hamon coursing through his veins, and his eyes showing little to no remorse into that reaction. I think I saw something close to shock when his punch was stopped by my open palm. Hamon facing Hamon, but my resilience proved to be superior to his offensive capacity. He didn’t move any further.
“You are… not a vampire, Dio?” He looked surprised, and his question confirmed a growing suspicion I had over this matter.
This Jojo wasn’t the Jojo I was familiar with. In fact, as far as I could tell from the clues I got about this interaction, this was Canon Part 1 Jonathan and… he thought I was Vampire Dio from the looks of it. Instead of being too pushy about my response to that shocked query, I decided to add some intrigued flair to it. After all, I wasn’t meant to know about this affair just yet.
“I… I am not. Why should I be one?”
Jonathan looked even more perplexed, driving more questions out in an effort to satisfy his voracious curiosity. I decided to push through as many genuine answers as possible, and with each query answered, Jojo looked less and less worried, and his posture eased down in a calm position as he grasped the full changes between our dimensions. Likewise, I ‘learned’ about his version of the tale, and most of the stuff was made of things I knew of. The rest were snippets of a devious Dio that were shown in the canon timeline, but that further added to the original Dio’s cruelty and

“So… you are Dio. But not bad. Right?”
“I would say I’m good since I… didn’t do horrible things,” I half-answered. “Still, this is… odd. I definitely didn’t fall asleep here yesterday.”
“I didn’t either...” Jonathan agreed with a faint smile. “But, we’re going to find a way out so… I can go back with my quest.”
I frowned, noticing the uneasy twist his voice took in that last sentence. “You can say that you were going to kill Vampire me. This guy… he is not ‘me’ me, and I would be the first to stop him if he was within reach.”
“I just… didn’t want to be impolite.”
“You wouldn’t have been. But this isn’t a lecture, Jojo, it was my permission to use my name if you add the term ‘Vampire’ to it. After all, that’s the most jarring difference one can pick up at first glance when making a comparison.”
He chuckled nervously. “If you put it that way… Still, I can’t believe that in another world you actually were… good.”
“I wouldn’t say utterly good. I definitely wasn’t your level of ‘good’, but I still didn’t go around and take on Dario’s mantle when I felt threatened,” I corrected with a small scowl. “I just… handle it better. Cope with it without having to rely on anger, greed and paranoia.”
…
“Say… you mentioned that you were hunting vampire me down, but I don’t recall you ever mentioning Erina, Jojo. I suppose you’re already married to her.”
As expected, Jonathan’s face turned a bright red at the thought of marrying his childhood sweetheart, but that scene was soon replaced by self-disappointment.
“Things… went bad in the end. Erina and I had little chance to speak ever since she returned from India.”

…
“I see. I guess she actually left with her father rather than staying behind. My other self’s fault?”
There was some hesitation from Jojo, but he nodded at it. “Yes.”
My lips twitched. “Such a shame. After all, I was the one that orchestrated your relationship. You two fit well with one another.”
He smiled at that. “I… I was told the same by Speedwagon.”
“Robert has a good eye when it comes to match-making. Except when he is drunk or it comes to himself,” I agreed with a smirk. “After all, it took him a while to fully settle with Daisy.”
Jojo raised a curious look. “Daisy?”
“A young lady he met in America. We were just finishing an important trip there and… let’s just say that it was love at first sight.”
“I just can’t… believe Speedwagon would end up falling in love with someone,” Jonathan argued with a hint of surprise. “Still, I guess he was happy about it.”
I nodded. “He was quite taken by her.”
“What about you?”
I blinked. “Hmm? What about me?”
“Any woman that got your eyes on her?”
Oh? Was that Jojo’s infamous awkward teasing? Let’s see if he is the same as ‘my’ Jojo.
“Yes. I’m rather in love with her too and she reciprocates,” I replied earnestly. “In fact, I was planning to marry her once the trip in the US was over.”
“Oh? Is that so?”
And thus a barrage of queries ensued, placing me in a rather awkward but familiar display as I had some answers already prepared. But, before I could provide any response about that kind of questioning, our attention was suddenly stolen away as a blinding light flashed from our left side. Soon, the light dimmed down, revealing a new person sitting right beside Jonathan, this one looking slightly younger, more flamboyant and still unconscious. I spared a long look at him, instantly realizing who it was.
Is that… Joseph?
