《Green Life》The first quest - chapter 46

With my "Hunter card" in my hand, I decided to choose one of the quests which were shown on the screen.
I walked towards the big and widescreen where the quests were placed.
The first quest that caught my eyes was killing rabbits and bringing their meat to the guild.
.

Quest
Class: D
Are needed 6 white rabbit monster.
The bodies of the rabbits are preferred to NOT be too much damaged!
30$ = 1 White Rabbit

.
Hmm
This one doesn't sound that hard and the price for each rabbit is 30$.
I placed the back of my guild card over the quest.
*Beep*
.

-Quest Accepted by Hatsuko Gee!
——————————
.
Over the quest format on the screen, my name came out.
This must mean that the quest was accepted.
Near me, were other quests as well.
Some of them were about collecting brown monster wolves but mostly were about finding missing people.
One quest that stood out the most, was the picture of a handsome middle-aged guy.
Wait, why does he look so familiar to me?
Have I met him before?
The quest was S class.
He must be an important person based on the rank of this quest.
There are actually a lot of other quests about finding missing people.
Do people actually believe that they are still alive out there?
...
Hm?
Suddenly on the screen, four new quests popped up.
They were also about finding missing people.

Based on all of the other quests, the quest's class for finding missing people is based on their importance.

Most of them are "D" for normal people, "C" for hunters, "B" or higher for important people that have a lot of money and influence in society.
These four new quests were about finding 3 hunters and a girl.
The price for finding them was high.
On each quest, a photo of them was placed there.
The first one was a blonde looking guy.
The 2nd and the 3rd ones seemed like they were twins.
Both their facial expression and hair were the same.
And lastly was a girl with brown hair.
[ —How the fuck did you get a guild card?! ]
The same person with a sniper on his back approached me again.
Why is he still here?
[ Yeah, I did! You got a problem with that? ] ( Hatsuko )
A throbbing vein popped upon his head.
[ You brat!
Kown your place!
You may have just registered as a hunter but Im still superior to you!
I'm a C ranked class hunter! ]
Only "C" ranked?
He sure is a higher rank than me, but still,
he is weaker than me!

.
Actually...he is too weak!
He has two skills that help him with his sniper hunt but in raw strength, he is too weak!
Should I use "Killing intent" on him as well?
No, that might draw a lot of unwanted attention.
I ignored him again and walked outside.
A faint killing intent came out of him when I did that.
[ You dare ignore me AGAIN! ]
Those were the last words I heard from him when I got out.
Since I'm gonna get a lot of rabbits I'm gonna need a big bag to put them in.

I bought one near a store close to the guild building.
Now, next is killing rabbits!
Getting out of this city was no different than entering.
I showed to the guards my guild card and they let me get out without asking many questions. I entered the same elevator again.
The moment I stepped outside, the first thing I did was use "Presence detection".
On a range of 7 km, I could sense all kinds of monsters.
I could tell the difference between the monsters using my skill.
My targets are smaller compared to other monsters. This will make it easier for me to look for them.
Well, I have no time to waste.
Since I didn't want to lose my way I decided to go on only one way.
I started flying straight while using presence detection.
I was flying some meters above the trees while using my skill "10X eyes" at the same time.
Now, I'm all prepared!
I could sense a lot of different monsters.
Mostly were some monster birds which were flying a lot higher above me and a lot of different monsters on the ground, etc.
...
It's been about 20 minutes since I started flying and there were no signs of white rabbits...
They were quite hard to find even with my skills.
Or so I thought.
A group of small monsters were sensed by my skill.
I flew towards them.
They were about 51 in total.

.
I checked the status of one of them.
The quest mentioned that the rabbits mustn't be too much damaged.
Normally I would cut them in half with my Katana, but if I do that, they may not accept them.
What should I do?
I thought as I was floating above the rabbits.
Oh right!
I could kill them without damaging their body using "Life Draining"
I got closer to them.
Some of them already noticed my presence.
One of them jumped towards me.
I was still 1.5 meters high above the ground but that rabbit still managed to reach me.
That's impressive for a rabbit.
But too bad that your opponent is me!
I grabbed the rabbit by its neck the moment it got close to me.
As I started draining the life of that rabbit, a smirk appeared on my face.
I don't know why but I couldn't stop myself from doing so.
The moment the Health of the rabbit reached zero I put the white rabbit inside my bag.
[ Well now everyone!
There's a lot of space left in my bag!
So why don't you also join your friend?! ] ( Hatsuko )
I landed on the ground as I said that.
This is really fun!
One after another the rabbits jumped towards me.
When they used their skills "Slash" I would block them with a barrier made out of "Materialization".
Their skill won't damage me, but I don't want my new clothes getting destroyed by them.
They were restless as they watched their friends getting killed by me.
The rabbits were really stupid too. They all were doing the same attack even though it was pointless.
They kept charging towards me.
After I drained their lives I shoved them into my bag.
40...
35...
17...
3...
and the last one finally died on my hand.
My bag was pretty much full of white rabbits. There was no blood or scratches on them.

Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
