《A loose thread》{An Unseen Shark}

His mother was, to put it mildly, not happy. They were saved from the worst of her wrath when she discovered they had not done much harm. This led to them escaping with only a lecture. That and promising to never touch her roses again.
Seeing Orn beginning to fade she cut the lecture short. Looking to his father, “Both Orn and my roses need a break after this morning. I think it is best we have lunch early.” Turning back to Orn she added, “And since you have clearly trained today, we will continue with your studies afterwards.”
…
He shifted on the hard wooden bench next to his mother. They had been sitting there for hours as his mother taught him how to read. Orn repeated after her as she slowly read from the book.
Each page took an eternity and she constantly asked him to go back and retry the way he pronounced some of the words.
“Try again. These letters make a soft ‘Kah’ sound.” His mother’s finger underlined the word.
“Kah-bolds,” He tried again using her correction.
She nodded and was about to continue when there was a knock at the study door. They looked up to see Orn’s father poking his head into the small library. “Olivia said dinner would be ready in an hour.”
“She came by to let us know as well.” His mother replied flatly.
Seemingly oblivious to his wife’s tone he continued. “Good, good. Well, I thought we could play cards while we waited. It will give Orn a break, since he has been studying for hours.” He smiled, “And it will teach him his numbers. “
“We will finish this page and then join you.” Not waiting for his response, she turned back to the page. “Sound this out for me.”

The promised reprieve was enough to motivate Orn to redouble his efforts. If I do well I can be done in a few more minutes.
At least that was the plan. In the face of his effort, his mother became ever more demanding of his pronunciation. She even made his start over from the top when he made too many mistakes.
“That was very good for your first attempt.” Orn beamed under the praise. “I will leave the book here and Olivia will work with you tomorrow from this page.”
Orn nodded eagerly. Olivia had helped him learn his letters years ago, so he knew she was a less exacting teacher. Hooray Olivia!
His mother raised an eyebrow at his reaction. “It looks like she is not pushing you as hard as she could. I will speak with her about that.”
Orn struggled to find an objection, but his mother put her hand on his back and steered him towards the door. “Unfortunately, that will need to wait. We have to feed the shark first.”
It did not take Orn long to realize who she meant by the shark. They entered the dining room to see his father shuffling cards at the table and ginning predatorily.
They had played several hands after teaching Orn the rules. Orn lost badly every time. His father won most hands by a large margin. Though on occasion his mother would eke out a win. Those were more fun since what Orn did could effect the game.
He was slowly getting the hang of the game by the time dinner came out. His father seemed disheartened as he put the cards away. Orn had also learned why his mother had become stricter after his father popped his head in. The count really like to play cards and was also very good at them. This was made worse by the smug grin he got whenever he won. A hand or two facing an opponent like that is not that bad; doing it for most of an hour made Orn want to go back to reading.

She watched the priest exit the wagon. He is losing weight. His robes used to fit him.
The priest walked towards the city’s temple praying the entire way. She laughed as she heard his desire that the goddesses name be written somewhere he could find it quickly. Oh no, little sister is not that kind. You will not find the answers you seek here.
She considered the man as he walked straight to the temple library. He is not yet there, but I see potential.
She chuckled at the thought of using this specific priest as her prophet. Koa’s face when she realizes would be so funny.
Turning her attention back to the priest she watched him skim past books he had already read. If he goes through them all, I will get Clo to see that a couple books fall into his hands. They will nudge his personality in the right direction.
Satisfied, she started moving on to the next potential prophet. His madness makes him easier to work with, but preaching to animals… She shook her head, At least the fool is amusing to watch

Summon Imp!
Travel with a newly born demon as he grows and learns in his own world as well as in other worlds as he gets summoned again and again. Usually to die or kill for others in strange and exciting places, but it's never certain what the next one will bring. It has its perks. With each new world comes a new story with new experiences and new lessons. There is always more to see, more to learn and more to know. Maybe, someday, it will all make sense. For now he will just work hard to become stronger, to be useful and, hopefully, survive that way. A coming-of-age story, but different. Things start to slow down to a crawl. Colors blur into one another until my vision is completely white. All I can think is "Shit, not this again!" I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...

8 141Chains of Dominion
If Jake wins the local Fantasy Tactics Online tournament, he’ll have everything he’s ever dreamed of — a ticket out of town and the attention of a beautiful woman. However, this woman has more planned for him than a bus ride to the local metropolis. She teleports him back to her Realm and declares him her Master… and says it’s up to him to save the world. No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.
8 258I can summon my past lives
What would you do if you were the only cultivator on the planet? What would you do if you could summon the soul bodies of your previous lives and leech off of their experiences? For the first time in my boring life, I finally saw the light. I was given the mission to become the strongest by any means necessary. Lucky for me, my past lives were quite badass in their respective universes during their prime until their untimely deaths...well most of them, I think. Their experiences remolded the current me to become their best version. I learned something: As powerful as they were, they still died for one reason or another until it was ultimately my time to live. In this life, I vow to learn from their mistakes and live forever. Besides, there must be a reason this {Requiem System} I got was given to me in this life. I am scared I am the last life to be reincarnated. If I die, there won’t be another do over. And why would I die if my reincarnations are also invested in this life as I am? They came with their powers intact...just that they lack a physical body which I am happy to share. With beings that strong at my beck and call, I think the bar that I must surpass had been raised a little bit too high. I am called Damon Kaze and I welcome you to this journey of my last reincarnation of mine. I can’t guarantee it’ll be your cup of tea, but hey, sometimes you never get what you wish for. You just have to live with it and hope for the best.

Changes is a collection of three stories that take place after the events of Edict. It would benefit the reader to read both Hy'Ruh-ha and Edict. Story one: The Monk and The Princess After a several months break from duty, Soletus, is asked to serve by the Patriarch as an escort to a conference the Brotherhood is attending. The only catch is he's acting as a second warden because someone wants him promoted. All he has to do is be at his best. However, his best is put to the test as he led surly men and then get whisked off to solve a disturbing plot with a determined and bored princess. Notice: Please note, that Soletus, aka main character is asexual. That is part of being a neth elf. This story delves into information about it neth and gets into the neth elf experience a few times in this story. You've been warned. Also note: As much as I didn't want to put it in this story, avoiding it was a futile effort on my part. There were things I needed to explain about Soletus and it's hard to write personal tales about character when avoiding talking about certain personal aspects of them. Story Two: The Sun and Stars - Summary and Date TBA
