Chapter 250: Wonderful Team
Theodore dodged the claws of an abomination and, looking at that creature, he condensed psionic energy and set it on fire, creating flames to cover it.
Getting it to explode from within was impossible, as the abomination was S rank and had natural instincts to protect itself from internal attacks, but Theodore was not weak.
“Grhaaaa!”
The abomination growled savagely as it used all four of its arms to thrash about wildly.
That creature was like a horse with four arms. Only what would be its head was actually the mouth of a grotesque beast.
Not caring about the appearance, Theodore produced a thick spear of compressed fire and sent it flying to pierce the creature.
“GAA!”
The attack caught the abomination by surprise as it snarled as the spear pierced it and instead of dying, the corrupted flesh and the Chaos inside sapped the fire.
However, it was enough for Theodore.
*BOOM*
Manipulating that spear, Theodore caused it to heat up to a formidable level and then, pushed for it to explode.
The explosion tore the creature apart from the inside and spears of fire shot out of the abomination’s corpse.
It was only then that Theodore scanned his surroundings.
Amanda was fighting what looked like a giant worm several meters long as she slashed with her sword infused with the power of her god... The ‘Space’ was completely cut down with a single swing of her sword.
In their surroundings flew blades of air sweeping everything in their path, while Alros moved at a speed that his eyes could barely catch.
Who was more fearsome was Alice, who was on the ground in front of everyone while her shadow had spread fifty meters below her feet.
Tentacles, hands and spears were coming out of her shadow with great force, piercing, stopping and even tearing apart all weak creatures.
“Another abomination and a large group of creatures are coming!”
Alros’ shout rang out, and Theodore could see a whirlwind of wind and blades sweep through that area.
Slashing as many of the creatures as possible and causing serious injuries to the others.
Depending on the shape of the creature, legs, arms and even pieces of flesh were cut off, some dying on the spot and others advancing with more force.
The corrupted creatures were problematic not only because of their increased strength but also because of their bestiality to attack, regardless of the wounds they received.
They were irrational, which made them black tactics and ‘dumb’, but if they could not kill them on the spot, then it was a great pain to eliminate them.
Theodore moved, charging forward with great speed.
His eyes began to fill with psionic energy, and then he opened them fully.
“Graaa!”
“GAhhhh!”
“Gaaaahhhh!”
The monsters and creatures lit up at his ‘Fiery Gaze’... That was the name of his best trick.
He had lit fire to all the creatures and monsters in his field of vision and was burning them completely.
His gaze focused on the abomination that looked like some kind of triceratops and the longer his gaze lasted on the abomination, the more damage it caused to the point that it melted the scales and burned the flesh.

However, the abomination advanced forward until it could take no more and ended up falling to the ground.
Theodore closed his eyes as he was exhausted from his attack and in the next moment, he swung his hand forward, causing an explosion.
*BOOM*
The explosion rang in his ears and when Theodore opened his eyes; he noticed a horned wolf on top of the corpse of that ancient abomination.
Using the expansive force of the explosion, he had dodged that creature’s attack and in his former position, there were now claw marks across the ground.
Chaos affected that horned wolf, but it maintained a high level of intelligence and cunning, coming close to becoming a demonic beast by accepting such corruption.
Theodore had heard that Chaos was not only ‘corruption’ it could also be ‘change’ or ‘mutation’, and the result of such change was not always negative... That was the reason why many used demonic energy to seek power or approached Evil Gods’ wanting power.
Now that grotesque creature had managed to maintain its bestial intelligence, and Theodore was not surprised.
“Grrr!”
The beast growled as Theodore used his psionic energy to attack.
In this place, psionic energy was present in the environment and while it was much less than in magical energy, it was enough for him.
Preparing for combat, the beast watched him and suddenly started sprinting towards Alice.
It was so sudden that it stunned Theodore, but that was all.
Alice was in the middle of her shadow, using her advantage to go for the weaker lower ranking creatures, allowing her battle to focus on the abominations, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t take down such a creature.
“Grraa!”
Now she showed it.
Theodore didn’t even have to give a warning, as Alice turned to face the beast charging towards her.
The shadow under her feet retracted, but the arms began to cover her at a surprising speed and when the creature tried to cut that cocoon, a large black arm caught it by the head.
It was not a normal black arm, but an arm that came out of the cocoon and belonged to a sinister creature that was composed of that black mass.
Theodore was sure that those of the mercenary guild were deceived when that young woman registered her ability and that was because that domain of darkness was more fearsome than anyone could have imagined.
As someone who had been inside space and was now looking at that creature, Theodore knew this better than anyone else.
“GRAA!”
The creature released a howl trying to escape and unfortunately for the creature the opponent it had tried to attack was more terrifying than a monster.
And the creature Alice controlled emerged.
Five meters tall, with a large body and thick arms and legs, the whole body was black with obsidian pearls as eyes.
The creature tightened her grip to stop the wolf from fleeing.
“GRAAHH!”
Then, the hand of that great monster began to melt, covering the wolf until the black mass that had previously made up the body of such a monstrosity covered half of its body.

Theodore knew from the howls of the beast that the suffering he was going through was greater than he could imagine.
All until half of the wolf’s body fell to the ground and the other part was cast aside as the arm reformed.
The shadow beneath Alice’s feet retracted, causing the creature to grow darker until she revealed glistening fangs shaping her face.
“Pray again. Let’s go for another round,” Alice commanded, revealing her face as the head of such a monster split and revealing her holographic watch, she activated an app and commented. “We’ll take down as many as possible before we switch places.”
Her first words were heard with her indifferent and casual tone of voice with which she always spoke, but her comment had changed managing to sound like a sinister creature with a thick voice that seemed to come out of hell.
She had used an application on her holographic watch to change her voice to that of a monster and as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
However, Theodore was not bothered by those words and looked at Alros and Amanda.
He didn’t know how much stamina and how capable Alice was, but what he did know was that he could do this for several hours.

“Hahaha...”
A wild laugh echoed near Adala and she just reinforced the water barrier on Urfin and Meden, who were on the ground.
Her concentration tried to focus on them as much as possible and that was because they were finishing off as many creatures as possible while surrounded by fire.
The entire forest was ablaze with fire and the monsters were growling loudly every few moments as they were burned.
Meden and Urfin were moving around the area, taking down the abominations that were present.
Urfin wielded two battle axes with overwhelming strength and was also fast, even though he was wearing heavy armor.
He was the representation of a war dwarf by the way he was armed and by the way he moved.
A true expert that despite being surrounded by fire and fighting in the midst of burning trees, he still moved without hesitation.
The other party was Meden, but unlike Urfin, she threw blows with her hammers that put out the fire, crushed the monsters and broke the earth by the expansive force.
With a hammer larger than her body, she waved it like a child would wave a toy sword.
She was slow, but her combination of earth magic with her hammer made her a fearsome opponent.
*BOOM*
With a single hammer blow, she could crack open the earth and generate tremors, but there was someone worse.
“Hahahahaha...”
The laughter behind her back rang out again and Adala could see a strong flare spread throughout the area, burning everything in its path.
Creatures that could fly, float or walk across the sky occasionally jumped, but the fire in the treetops rose up and surrounded them to make them fall.
The fire spread not only around, but far into the forest, burning everything in its path.
It was amazing the control and affinity to fire of the individual who did all this, but for Adala, there was a problem.
“Hahaha...” Siba laughed like a maniac and waving his hand, the fire returned to burn with a force that made everything look red.
The flames crackled, burning everything overhead and preventing the creatures from fleeing, but most of all it was an aggressive fire that swept everything in its path, burning all enemies.
Adala again reinforced her water barrier against the overflowing heat and did the same with Urfin and Meden, who were on the ground.
Siba’s gaze carried a tinge of madness that was eerie and worse was the smile that caused Adala to shiver subtly, and more so because of the reddish hue of the skin.
It was a smile that enjoyed hearing the grunts of pain from the monsters and a look that enjoyed burning things.
She had heard a few things about the humans of the lands of fire.
The main one was their hatred of demons and that they were not to be mistaken for demons because they got angry, but she had also learned that their affinity to fire was high and they were descended from demons.
That last had been mentioned to her by her manager, warning that to say in front of them that they possessed ‘demon blood’ was a very serious insult, even though it was in such a way.
Still, now no matter how it would look... Siba looked like a lunatic demon who worshipped fire like an arsonist.
His laughter and looks differed greatly from his normal acting.
“Adala, barrier,” Urfin commanded, leaping into the sky and hurling his axe towards a monster.
His axe flew through the air and pierced through an abomination, and the next moment reappeared in Urfin’s hand.
Adala obeyed by performing another barrier in the group... That barrier prevented them from choking from the smoke and at the same time reduced the intense heat that could hurt her companions.
“Siba, we are done with this part. Get ready to move and don’t overdo it. We need to keep the letter secret, in case of emergency,” Urfin warned before diving back into the fire.
Siba nodded and waving his mage’s staff caused the fire to gather in one spot, forming a large fire snake.
Scorched earth, charred corpses and destroyed trees were left in view and Adala was grateful for her barrier that prevented the smell of burning flesh from entering.
The fire snake grew larger as the fire began to gather and then began to move around, attracting all the fire.
In the distance, the monsters could be seen ready to charge back, and Siba smiled as it flew forward.
Like a blaze, the snake, several meters thick and long, burned everything in its path, starting another massive fire.
Adala was impressed by the progress in the mission and was sure the others were the same.
With such a wonderful team, it wouldn’t take them too long to escape.

Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.
