Lacuna (noun): a blank or missing part

The breakup felt as if hell rained upon her.

She’d read so many romance novels in the past. None of them were even close to the real thing. Words weren’t enough to describe her excruciating pain.

Apparently, she was too logical. Too robotic. Too “reasonable” to properly understand the wild, passionate phenomenon called love.

She tossed her head back and bawled.

Pure, raw grief locked her head, her tears streaming like rivers of poison down her face. She clawed at her own arms, wishing she could rip her heart out and stop the horror that wormed through it.

Then, she erupted into a giggling fit.

Her sadness evaporated as suddenly as it came. Without a warning, she was feeling freedom. She bounced off the floor and leaped around with her arms in the air. She felt so happy! It didn’t matter now, she was free from him, anyway!

Her strangled scream came a second later.

She bashed her fist into her mirror, the glass shattering into a firework of deadly shards. As the broken pieces drew rivulets of blood down her exposed skin, she snarled with boiling rage. How disgusting! Who did he think he is, arrogantly placing himself on the moral high ground?!

In this whirlwind of feelings, she embraced her emotions. They were so dramatic, so powerful, and somehow, so logical.
