《Mythics Abound》Chapter 27

Sol felt groggy when she finally came to. Her memories were jumbled and her body was aching. Her eyes split open, however were too misty to see anything clearly. As she attempted to move, she felt bed sheets below her and with every movement, her body twitched.
The blankets covering her rubbed against her skin and she felt as if every nerve that came in contact with it was on fire. Her mind cleared up instantly after discovering her lack of clothes. Panic overtook her and she assessed herself on the spot.
“Nothing… happened?”
She was still pure. Sol couldn’t understand her situation. She was already undressed and covered with blankets on another’s bed. How much more damning could someone’s situation be? Despite that, Sol knew for sure her purity remained.
Noises from outside the room grabbed Sol’s attention and she closed her eyes pretending to remain asleep. The large pair of doors opened and Sol could hear a flurry of footsteps enter along with carts and small chatter.
Using her spiritual awareness, Sol was able to identify the general outline of the intruders and judged them to be a crew of maids. The smell from the cart signified food and an unmistakable pungent odour of strong wine.
“Quickly, Prince Elric will return after he briefs Queen Blonsall. All of our heads will roll if she’s not prepared in time.”
The authoritative tone of the maid suggested her to be the leader of the group. Sol analyzed the various actions of the maid and realized the room was being staged. She felt rather confident that these maids undressed her and set her up.
Once Prince Elric returns, she would likely lose her chance to escape. Fury burned within her however she remained placid externally. She knew she couldn’t alert the maids at this point. As she remained asleep, one of the maids approached her and noticed the blanket out of place.
The lady moved the blanket to tuck Sol back in, however the abrupt movement of the blanket caused Sol to moan involuntarily. Shame struck through her at the unconscious action and she finally realized that she was drugged. Although she couldn’t tell for sure, Sol had a pretty good guess that no one expected her to wake up so early.
Had she not practiced The Unchained Queen Beast and stepped into the world of Assemblers, odds are she wouldn’t have recovered enough to wake up. Considering the maid’s behavior and lack of tender movements when hustling around the room, she was clearly drugged with something potent.

Sol gave An a heartfelt apology over the small grudges she held against him and withdrew into her mind. She activated The Unchained Queen Beast and refined whatever drugs remained in her system. By the time the maids finished their tasks and left the room, Sol regained enough control over her body to move around.
She grunted as she pulled the bedsheet down once more. Although the drug was mostly refined, she still felt a heightened sensitivity across her skin. Her body temperature remained elevated and there was an undeniable itch she felt a desire to scratch in her core.
Luckily, Sol’s mind was crystal clear and her will strong enough to overpower those impulses. Aside from a few grunts and labored breathing, Sol managed to get off the bed and search the room for clothing. Unfortunately, she found nothing. It was clear Prince Elric was determined to take her and keep her after the fact.
Despite her lack of options, Sol immediately looked towards the bed. If she couldn’t find any clothes, then bed sheets would have to do. No way in hell was she going to stay and ask Prince Elric politely for her clothes.
Just as she was about to tear the blanket off the bed, Sol heard light footsteps outside the door. Her spiritual awareness was working in high gear so she knew the approaching person was a maid. Had she forgotten something? Regardless, this worked in her favor.
Sol grabbed a nearby lamp and positioned herself behind the door. The moment the door opened, Sol smashed the lamp down on the poor maid. Without issue, the maid collapsed to the ground and Sol immediately got to work undressing her.
She dragged the maid to the bed and used her as a placeholder before attempting to wear the oversized clothing. With creative application of ribbons and ties, Sol managed to appear presentable as long as no one scrutinized her too closely.
Without looking back, Sol exited the room with confidence, folded her arms to her front in a subservient gesture, then started her exploration of the villa. Utilizing her spiritual awareness, Sol prodded her surroundings and mapped out the structure.
It didn’t take long for her to realize she was still inside the Imperial Villa. Her guest room was actually on the opposite side of the room she woke up in. Sol grinded her teeth in anger at the implications. If things went as the Prince planed, Sol would never be able to free herself of the accusations.

If she were lucky, she would have been forced into marriage with the Prince in the best case, but more likely, she would have been taken in as a concubine or unofficial mistress. The fury inside her melted any pity or guilt she originally held towards the Royal family.
In the past, Sol held off on major reforms in order to avoid undermining Royal power. As of now, though, Sol had no desire to hold her hand. As she neared the exit, Sol was already planning her revenge. Two guards stood at the exit and questioned Sol after she approached.
“This servant was ordered by Prince Elric to purchase feminine clothes for the guest.”
Sol’s abduction was rather high profile despite the clandestine extraction. Between gossiping maids and the guards who witnessed Sol being brought in, there were few in the Villa who didn’t know the current situation. In fact, awareness of all guards were explicitly ordered to be raised for the next few days to prevent anything from happening.
The two guards hesitated. Orders were strict, however it was oriented to not allowing people in, there wasn’t anything to prevent people from leaving. There was little they could do to prevent the maid from going out, especially if she were under orders.
Reluctantly, they allowed the maid to pass. Sol thanked the two guards with a slight curtsy and then continued on her way. Judging by the position of the moon, Sol guessed the time to be around 2 to 3 am. Aside from the red light district, Sol wagered that most shops were closed by now. Rather than head out to buy clothing, Sol returned to her guest room.
Sol passed through the main entrance of the Imperial Villa in confidence. To her surprise, she found a familiar face chatting in the hall.
“Brother?” Though spoken under her breath, her brother seemed to hear her voice. The two locked gazes with one breaking into a smile while the other turning a shade pallor. Before her brother could blow her cover, Sol cozied up to the young Lord.
“Lord Reviarra! This servant has been looking all over for you. Lady Reviarra has asked to speak with you.”
“S-Sister?”
“Yes! Lady Reviarra is feeling unwell and was asking for a familiar face as she was homesick. Please take a moment to visit her and relieve her of worries so she might sleep well.”
Christopher was confused about the entire situation. It was clearly his sister in front of him, however she was dressed as a maid and referring to herself as a servant. He snapped out of his confusion after realizing the situation was urgent and excused himself from the conversation.
Following behind the maid, Christopher was led to Sol’s room where two guards stood at attention. Clearly, Prince Elric left the two men in order to prevent anyone from realizing Sol was missing. With confidence, Sol approached the two men and issued orders.
“This servant is under the orders of Prince Elric to retrieve extra clothing for Lady Reviarra. Please move aside.”
The two guards looked at each other with doubtful gazes before turning their heads to the young Lord following the maid. Sol’s expression twisted and she scowled at the men.
“Do you think Lord Reviarra is unaware of the situation? How else do you expect things to go smoothly with the Lady? Quickly move aside. Lord Reviarra will select clothing that matches the Lady’s preference. Lady Reviarra’s impression of Prince Elric must be boosted in any way possible after she awakes! Move aside!”
“You guys might not know this, but my sister is pretty emotional. After she wakes up, I doubt she’ll be happy. If she’s not happy, and can’t take her frustrations out on Prince Elric, who do you think those frustrations will land on?”
Christopher followed up after Sol much to her pleasure. The two guards were convinced. After all, who would expect someone’s brother to sell out their own sister, especially when the Lady in question was standing right beside him? Relenting, the guards allowed Sol and Christopher to enter the room.

Blue Hills
Nothing had ever felt quite right for Alexander Adamson. He'd worked his way up to a job he could tolerate, a few casual friends, and even a nice little apartment that he could call his own, though it really wasn't. The problem was that none of it was satisfying. It was as though he were going through the motions of a life, rather than having one of his own. Of course, it didn't exactly feel right when he woke up in a strange bed in the middle of nowhere. Nor when he was told that he was now the proud owner and operator of a local farm. A farm that had belonged to a late uncle he'd never known. But with the first train out of town a full 'season' away, he had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Plenty of time, perhaps, to even get to like the strange little town of Blue Hills. I have a discord now. Marvel at my ability to somehow still be antisocial on the other side of a screen! Back from hiatus along with my other fiction. Chapters are on a Thurs/Sun schedule until book 3 of that fiction is completed, at which point I'll be updating this daily. At which point uh.... I dunno what I'm going to do.
