《Divine Demon Goblin》Chapter 11

Chapter 11
Divine ordered his minions to dig a deep latrine pit in one of the cavern's corners.
Luckily that was quickly done. No wonder since the minions were already experienced diggers now.
Divine watched them work and contemplated what to do with the minions in the future.
'I actually don't have much work for them right now, that I would entrust them with. I doubt they will harm the goblings. I think I'm going to leave them here and go hunting alone. If one of them stays I can think about teaching how to serve me well and making it my permanent minion. '
"Me hunt. You stay. Watch goblings." Divine was interested to see if one of the goblins would stay.
After fashioning himself a bag out of rags he set off.
He walked fast through the tunnel and didn't bother with other goblins.
Everyone who noticed him paid attention. With his get up he stood out from all the other goblins.
Divine made his way through the throngs of goblins so quickly that no goblin managed to try anything.
It was dark outside, but the moonshine was enough for Divine to see well.
Not very far from the caves at the edge of the forest winterberry bushes grew in abundance.
A few goblins were already there eating berries and stuffing them into their rags.
Two of them ran right off when they saw Divine coming.
The others started gathering the berries up faster.
These winterberries were purple. They looked ripe and tasty.
A mildly sour taste followed by a fruity sweetness encountered Divine when he tried one.
'Not bad. Really not bad.'
Divine had to think of lamb with cherry sauce.
Divine reminded himself to keep his eyes open for ingredients.
With a half full ragpack he went a little deeper into the forest to score some game.
Suddenly a white blur jumped out behind some trees directly right at Divine.
His reflexes saved him and he narrowly dodged by leaning so far back that he fell on his ass. Because he didn't have stable footing he couldn't dodge in another direction.
The white blur flew over him and when he turned he realized what it was. A horned rabbit.
'Almost impaled by a bunny that wants to be a unicorn. What a shameful way to die that would be.'
The horned rabbit was already jumping horn first at him again.
It was fast.
Divine dodged rolling to the side, stood up and drew his sword.
The movement wasn't as flowing as it could have been, but fast enough to parry the horn as it came at him again.

The horn withstood his sword but the rabbit's weight didn't withstand Divine's strength.
It crashed into a tree and fell to the ground.
Immediately Divine followed up and beheaded the horned rabbit.

Divine had fought against goblins and a wild hog and the bunny came closer to killing him than either.
He wasn't in the mood to continue hunting anymore and made his way back.
Almost out of the forest Divine discovered a bird's nest not high up in a tree.
He easily climbed up and scored three medium sized eggs.
From this position he saw the red glow of a recent death not far away.
Carefully sneaking Divine made his way over with the Dancing Feather Sword in hand.
A group of six goblins clawed and bitten to death lay not far from each other. One of them was really chewed up.
Divine stopped, went backwards and left, keeping his eyes roaming over the trees.
Suddenly something jumped at him from above.
This time he wasn't fast enough. It collided with him and threw him to the ground.
His sword flew out of his hand.
Reflexively he defended with his arms and pevented a big black cat with sharp teeth from biting his face off.
The cat who looked like a little puma stood heavily on his chest. He could feel the razor sharp claws through his robe.
Divine panicked and used all his strength to get the puma away from him.
The puma flew through the air but landed on its feet.
It hissed at him.
The puma ran up a tree and disappeared behind it.
Divine picked up his sword and stood completely still. Sensing the surroundings with every sense he had.
That saved his life.
He could only dodge the attack from behind because of his qi sense. The puma was easier to notice with his qi sense than a goblin.
The puma missed and its claw hit the ground, shredding it.
The puma had some shadowy qi on its claw.
That was concerning.
Divine didn't know any qi attack, yet.
But he could flood his body with his spirit qi.
His heart beat faster, his senses sharpened, everything around him seemed to slow down a little.
Suddenly two goblins came upon Divine and the shadow cat.
Divine used the second the shadow cat was distracted to dash forward and swing his sword.
The shadow cat was fast and only got its paw cut of instead of its head.
But with a bleeding stump the shadow cat was now helpless in front of Divine. It couldn't dodge Divine's second swing and lost its head.

Divine let out a sigh of relief.
"Whoa dark cat. He kill dark cat." One of the goblins who had provided the distraction babbled to the other.
"Grippy see. Groby come away." The other goblin with the nice name Grippy didn't want trouble and pulled the other goblin away.
'They called it a dark cat in Gobble. Doesn't matter, when I spread English these cats will be known as shadow cats. So mote it be.'
Satisfied with himself Divine collected the donations of the six dead goblins in the vicinity. Shadow cats were really successfull goblin killers.

What wasn't so good was that the eggs broke and the winterberries got pretty mushed because of the fight.
But he was pleasantly surprised to notice that the shadow cat's claws hadn't pierced through the Spider Silk Robe. Propably because the shadow cat hadn't used its shadow claws yet.
He decided to take the dead shadow cat back with him.
'I never ate cat and don't know if I can stomach it, but the goblins will defenitely eat it.'
Divine quickly made his way back.
In the main cavern back at the Lost Tooth Tribe he was the center of attention again but no one accosted him and he reached the tunnel without problems.
Right behind the first caves in the tunnel waited a group of ten goblins.
The leader armed with two rusty knives stepped forward. "Me Grubtooth. Give your stuff!"
"Me Divine. Kneel, me give mercy." Divine moved to intimidate them by drawing his sword and letting the corpse of the shadow cat fall onto the ground.
Disappointingly no one knelt. Crying a battle cry they attacked.
Suddenly more goblins came out of the two caves to the sides.
Divine was completely surrounded.
Divine wasn't scared. He was excited. His spirit qi sang in his body and he met the leader in his attack and killed him right of the bat.
What followed was a complete massacre.
The goblins couldn't even touch him.
With his qi sense he had eyes in the back of the head. Together with his superior weapon and superior physique the goblins didn't stand a chance.

Only when Divine reached his cavern did he notice how exhausted he was.
Furthermore did he look like he had taken a swim inside a blood pool.
Divine was happy to see that three minions were still there and everything was okay with his books and the goblings.
The minion with the scarface stood suspiciously close to the Demonic Path of Immortality when he arrived but as long as the goblin didn't damage the book he couldn't care less.
The book being stolen was more impropable because of its weight and what would a goblin even want with it.
Divine had forgotten to organize a pot to draw water on his outing.
He sat down and opened the system shop. Where he even found two different pots he could afford.
[Blood Qi Essence: 53]
[One Steel Pot 1 BQE]
[One Spirit Pot 10 BQE]
The steel pot had inscriptions for durability and lightness.
The spirit pot had a weak qi gathering array that infused everything cooking inside with the natural qi of the environment.
Divine bought one of both and additionally a rope.

[+1 Spirit Pot] [-10 Blood Qi Essence]
[+1 Spirit Hemp Rope] [-1 Blood Qi Essence]
The spirit hemp rope could be controlled by infusing it with qi. It had great durability and was really long.
Fighting against his exhaustion Divine stood up and tied one end of the robe to the steel pot.
Divine went to the former pit trap and let the pot down to get himself some water.
He was happy with the new well.
Taking the water Divine went to the latrine pit at the side. Here was the place for dirty water.
He kept his robe on at first to wash it. The blood and dirt washed off well.
The Spider Silk Robe didn't have an inscription for cleanliness for nothing.
Divine let the dirty water flow into the latrine pit.
After half of the water was gone he stripped and washed himself.
It refreshed his tired body even through he didn't use any supplements.
Two of the minions noticably stared more than the other, but Divine didn't care at all, he washed himself until the pot was empty.

The Mountains of Mourning
After his rebellion failed, Patrick and his team escaped to another world, thinking to be safe there, and live out what remained of their broken lives in whatever peace they might find. But the world he found wasn't the one he expected, and that remainder of his life threatened to become very short, unless he found a way to survive in this monster-ridden hostile environment. To make matters worse, more refugees started to come in, falling through portals, disturbing the balance. With them they brought tales of war and chaos, the horrors of those who were left behind, and the ravenous hunger for blood of the Tyrant they thought they left behind. Unable to leave the new settlers to their fate, Patrick and his team take on the roles that are pushed onto them, some with enthusiasm, some with reluctance, all striving to build a better world than the one they left behind. They should have realized that portals that open once, can be opened again, and that what they thought they left behind, might one day catch up.

Recovery of a Life
The prince of a kingdom was erased from the world. His very existence an enigma. Follow Xopil as he forces his life into a world that refuses to acknowledge his presence. I tried to write a novel without including all the standard things you find in certain genres, or if it is included, I hope it's at least a fresh take on it, this includes me breaking the fourth wall, probably too much. I'm wondering if that helped with humor at all, and also reconsidering if that should be a part of the story. I'm going to be rewriting every chapter at this point... and that chapter I'm extremely disappointed with could likely be deleted if not redone entirely. Now that this story is marked 'completed', I'll be going through each chapter and fleshing out the story a bit, as I found it severely lacking, and I've been saying to myself "I could have done more with that." way more often than I should be. And that speaks to my own dissatisfaction with my writing. I make no warranty-express or implied-as to the quality of these chapters, or the story as a whole. Cover art by Roman Valeyev
