Chapter 10
Divine had an idea so he accessed the system shop.
'There's really something like that. Nice'
[+1 Body Tempering Soap] [-1 Blood Qi Essence]
The soap was pure white and smelled wonderfully of herbs. He could feel the qi inside.
Divine stepped into the cold river where it was deeper. The water reached up to his belly.
Next to him a big stone stood inside the river like a mini island. Divine put down his stuff on that.
His newly filled gourd. His three rusty knives and the Dancing Feather Sword that was strapped to his back. And lastly his dirty rags.
It was such a relief to finally get out of these horribly dirty rags.
He started washing while the other goblins tried to get the fire going.
The soap cribbled on his skin. It felt like getting a massage in the bathtub.
Visible strands of dirt darkened the river water.
When the soap was completely used up he just lay in the shallow waters. Relaxing. Divine felt an indescribable comfort in his body.
He felt refreshed and renewed like a snake that shed its skin.
'Divine Demon System. Status.'

[Body Cultivation: Second Stage of the Body Tempering Realm]
[Blood Qi Essence: 24]
'I accomplished a lot in this short time. And I collected many experience points too. The many deaths in the tribe are crazy.'
Divine gathered his stuff up in his arms.
Buck nacked he came out of the ice cold river.
The goblins stared.
'System Inventory. I want to take out the robe and let it appear directly equipped.'
He pictured that he was wearing the robe and suddenly he was.
It was a dark grey robe in a classic style with long and wide sleeves.
The robe fit precisely on his goblin body like it was custom-made.
----------
Gobly stared at Divine in wonderment. All the goblins were staring at Divine totally baffled.
Gobly liked him better naked but with that weird pelt or armor he looked impressive too. Kind of lordly. She never thought that about another goblin.
And the magic of making it suddenly appear was stunning. He had definitely used some kind of magic.
The goblins started chattering.
"Magic. Magic."
"What strange pelt."
"It's armor, stupid."
"How? "
"Me want too."
They all wanted what Divine had but didn't dare to make a move.

Divine came closer to the fire and the goblins fell silent.
Since Gobly was the one that had gotten the fire going, she had guarded it so Divine could see it was her work.
She scuttled around the fire and took care of it. The others brought firewood. At least the ones that weren't slacking off.
Now Divine stepped forward and took over. He put some additional wood on it and then left it to burn down.
In the meantime he carved a few sticks and put meat on them.
When the fire went down somewhat and the embers were nice and hot Divine began grilling the wild hog meat.
Gobly had stared the whole time alternatly between Divine and the fire.
Both fascinating and terrifying.
But when he started grilling she got herself some sticks too and copied him.
Slowly the other goblins followed.
As long as Divine was sitting there with vigilant eyes roaming around no one dared to snatch from each other and make trouble. So everything went orderly.
It was very peaceful for a meal between goblins.
Gobly enjoyed it immensely.
Afterwards, the sun was setting, they went back to the tribe taking the left overs with them.
Every goblin that noticed Divine stared.
With his sword and the new pelt he looked rich. Completely outlandish for a goblin. And especially one from the Lost Tooth Tribe.
Gobly got nervous under the attention of these greedy eyes. The way through the main cavern was nerve wrecking.
Gobly endured and kept following after Divine.
No one made a move right then. They were too surprised and no one wanted to be the first to test the waters.
Gobly, Divine and some of the group got safely into the tunnel.
Gobly was relieved and calmed down somewhat.
She and four other goblins were still following after Divine.
They waited for a chance.
Gobly promised herself she wouldn't be impatient and try to serve Divine wholeheartedly until an opportunity presented itself.
She wanted his stuff. And she wanted his magic.
----------
Divine led five goblins to his cave.
'I'm gonna keep my eye on these five lackeys. I have much work for them and I have to make sure they stay on the job until its done.'
His cave was exactly the same as he left it. The goblings were fine, not even hungry or thirsty yet, worming around on the ground trying to crawl.

Divine gave each lackey a gobling and the last one got to carry all of the rags in the cave and the still wet doe pelt.
The Eternal Divine Demon Cultivation Scripture and the Shining Blood Demon Body Cultivation Manual were still at their place in crevice of the wall. He tucked them into his robe.
Lastly he picked up the giant book, The Demonic Path of Immortality, a Cultivation Journey.
It was much easier to carry this time with his body cultivation in a higher realm. Divine was very satisfied with his rising strength.
Divine led the group farther down the tunnel to the cannibals' cavern.
There were three goblins in the cavern sitting around a fire. Old inhabitants that had went out or new squatters?
When Divine's group carefully took the narrow path next to the still open pit the three goblins by the fire heard them.
The three goblins got up and came at them. Divine could see what they were cooking, the leg of one of the goblin corpses that Divine had left here.
He laid the book down carefully and drew his sword planning how to slaughter the three quickly.
Divine didn't hesitate and showed no mercy.
Fast as the wind Divine moved. Blood spurted. The goblins didn't stand a chance at all.

His lackeys only stared shortly in amazement and got themselves together quicker than last time.
The goblings and the books were placed in a corner.
Divine went and removed the grilling goblin leg from the fire.
'Who would have thought that my life would ever be this way.'
"Gather corpses. Put at entrance." Divine ordered, glad that he had minions for the task.
Divine cut some rags to stripes and tied them together to a poor substitute for a rope.
Walking to the pit at the entrance Divine saw one of the minions throwing one of the corpses down the pit.
Good that Divine saw it before the others could make the same mistake.
Divine gave that minion a slap. So hard that the goblin landed on its green ass.
"Put corpses at entrance! Not in pit!" Divine looked at the others carrying dead goblin parts too.
Divine supervised the green minions work until all the goblin bodies were on a pile at the entrance, except for the two in the pit.
"You!" Divine pointed at the minion that threw the body down the pit.
"Get down!" This time Divine pointed down the pit. He gave the rope made of rags to the goblins. "You all hold."
Very reluctant and only under Divine's oppressive gaze the goblin minion climbed down into the pit.
The problem was, that stupid goblin couldn't tie at all and the corpses fell down countless times while pulling them up.
But finally they got it done and placed the corpses onto the pile.
When the minion wanted to come out of the pit Divine didn't let that happen and sent down another goblin instead with the order to "Dig!"
Divine pulled out the rag rope and tied another rag on it so it could be filled with dirt like a bucket.
That way he let the goblins dig in the pit waiting for the moment they met groundwater.
Highest priority was building a well to finally have a water source in his abode.
After supervising for some time Divine picked up his routine again.
Taking care of the goblings, reading to them and cultivating.
The only difference to before was that he had to be even more alert.
When a minion dared to try to leave, Divine picked up a stone and threw it near the goblin as a warning.
The goblin jumped up in fright and immediatly got back to work with the others.
Since then they didn't try to test Divine further. For now.
Sometimes he had to punish the minions because the goblins loved to slack off or let themselves get distracted.
The minions worked and slept in shifts.
Divine was the only one who didn't sleep a whiff. He only sat down to meditate and cultivate.
Because they were underground it was hard to tell the time but roughly after one and a half days they struck gold.
Only figuratively, what they really struck was the groundwater.
They were fast enough with the work that even some wild hog meat sticks were left and Divine didn't have to get new supplies yet.
Divine fed the goblings and himself first and gave the rest to the minions to celebrate.
Now Divine had to stock up again. Thankfully this time only food. Water was already in supply now.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
