《Travels along the Astral Road》Monster?

Before, Bai Qi had fought against people from [Sha Zhu Company] and [Earth's Demon Sons]. Thus, he did not expect much from them, but he did not allow himself to relax in the slightest. And it turned out to be the right mindset, as while the 3rd level Warrior Lord from the [Sons] was a paper tiger, the two 2nd level ones from the desert slavers were not pushovers.
They created what could be called a perfect net of slashes with the two, almost identical, saber pairs that each summoned. Both pairs were of the same type of spirit metal, probably [Saint's Alloy], but while one looked slightly pinkish, the other was of a pure dark gold color.
*Clash* *Clash* *Clang* *Clang*
And even Bai Qi, who held a definite advantage over them in both speed and strength, found himself making a few steps back while avoiding the four short sabers. He only could block so many attacks with his single sword, and only his advantage allowed him to remain unharmed and retreat only a few steps.
Bai Qi inwardly acknowledged that the saber users weren't bad at all, but indeed, the [Earth's Demon Son] was absolute trash in such combat. His few attempts to stab at Bai Qi with his spear broke the saber users' rhythm. And allowed Bai Qi to regain a foot or two in place of being dangerous.
A grin crossed Bai Qi's face as he summoned his black and crimson-veined [Spear of Blades].
*Clash*
Using the moment when the two sabers crossed, Bai Qi slashed with the sword to block them.
*Clang*
And less than a breath later, when the other attacker reacted, Bai Qi waved his spear in a half-sweep from upside, forcing the former to block it with both of his sabers.
Thus, Bai Qi's spear was obstructing the right-side attacker, and his sword, in turn, blocked the left-side one. For someone experienced in weapon combat, an opponent leaving such an opening would spell trap. But the 3rd level Warrior Lord was indeed inexperienced and, as Bai Qi expected, shoved his spear forward.
*Swoosh*
And as he did, Bai Qi could not contain a smirk, especially as he felt when the two saber users sent qi transmissions to the idiot, probably calling him out as one.
Bai Qi sidestepped the spear thrust and retrieved his right, sword, arm back. And while this did free the right-side attacker's sabers, the latter could not act for a few moments as the pole of the spear prevented him from doing so.
*Swoosh* *Clang*
Bai Qi did not stop with just the sidestep but rotated his whole body in a circle as if he was dancing, and his now free sword continued on a rearward arc towards the left-side saber user.
And while he opened his back and half-retrieved the spear, Bai Qi knew that the saber user could not land an attack, as otherwise, the sword would have reached him.
*Clang*
And indeed, the [Sha Zhu Company] dual saber user was forced to block the sword, only to be met with another swipe of the spear as Bai Qi finished his turn.

*Sssss*
And with both sword and spear, coupled with the added strength of his rotation, Bai Qi overpowered the saber user, and the latter started sliding back.
But behind him, there was no free space but the still extended spear pole of the 3rd level Warrior Lord.
*Swoosh*
As the back of the sliding saber user touched the pole, he got distracted. Only for a brief moment, but enough to allow Bai Qi to suddenly retrieve the sword and send a quick and light slash towards the extended arms.
And while it did not even wound the saber user, it was enough to distract him further. Enough to miss the kick that Bai Qi sent right away. After all, who said that they would combat only with weapons?
*Smash*
Bai Qi did not hold back at all. With his kick containing not only superior physical strength, half a realm above his opponents but also enough qi to destroy a spirit-tier armament.
A torrent of curses followed as the man's body flew back, crashing into his companion. And while they rolled on the floor, Bai Qi lunged towards the 3rd level Warrior Lord.
*Swoosh*
The man had just finished retrieving his spear hand and turning to face Bai Qi, as he found that the [Void Palace] cultivator was already in front.
*Slash* *Clang* *Clang* *Swoosh*
Without waiting, Bai Qi released a barrage of slashes, thrusts, sweeps, and even a couple of kicks.
And while Bai Qi did not care to aim or go after the weak points, his speed allowed him to overwhelm the man's defense and force the latter to start retreating.
*Slash* *Clang* *Clang* *Step* *Slash* *Step*
As if he was a golem, Bai Qi attacked without even a moment of respite. But such a crazed offense, during which Bai Qi constantly advanced on the retreating Demon's son, logically opened his back.
"Die, you bastard! And go to hell along with your damned Palace!" While the saber-wielding man that Bai Qi kicked had yet to return to the fray, the other one had silently moved behind Bai Qi. And then, the slaver shouted with glee as his sabers flew at Bai Qi's uncovered back.
*Splatter*
Blood splattered, but it wasn't Bai Qi's one. And he wasn't even wounded, as if he was, how could he continue barraging the retreating [Earth's Demon Son] cultivator?
[Spear of Blades] was a short spear. Black steel was the base for both, and several crimson-colored streaks ran along the pole, looking almost like a living being's veins. As for the spearpoint, it was black with crimson-colored edges. Between this point, which looked like a double-edged dagger mounted on the veined pole, the entire spear looked if created from several parts.
And indeed, it was created from four separate parts, each of which was a handle-less throwing dagger. And each of them was a Spirit-tier weapon made of [Black Steel] and a [Fiery Ore] finish on the blade.
Neither of his opponents had even noticed how the spearpoint had separated and, without a sound, disappeared. Hidden by Bai Qi's long sleeves, it had been waiting for someone to attack from the back, and when it happened, Bai Qi commanded it to fly forward. It wasn't even an aimed throw, but there had been no need either.

*Plop*
The 2nd level Warrior Lord that had attacked Bai Qi fell on the ground, showing no signs of life with a twelve-inch blade right between the eyes.
"You damned dog, what did you do?! I will kill you!" And as it registered in his companion's mind, he crazily yelled and launched himself at Bai Qi, whose back was still open.
"Go." Bai Qi murmured and continued slashing at his target with his sword as he, as it looked from the side, dropped the pole of his spear.
But only a few small pieces of [Black Steel], used for connection, fell on the ground, as the pole had separated into three blades. And now they, under Bai Qi's aura control, flew towards the new attacker. The fourth blade, which served as the spearpoint, also dislodged from the dead cultivator and joined them.
*Swoosh* *Clang* *Swoosh* *Clang*
Now aware of what happened before, the remaining saber user stopped in his tracks and blocked the approaching blades. Still, he found unable to do anything but stay on the spot and cover himself with a quick series of slashes, as Bai Qi's aura immediately controlled the blades to fly at him again.
*Swoosh* *Clang* *Swoosh* *Clang*
And then again. No matter how much force the saber-wielding man applied to the block, the blades only flew back a couple of feet and immediately resumed targetting him.
"I will finish playing shortly and be back to help you follow after your friend." Bai Qi spoke up in a light, if not playful tone, but without stopping harassing the man in front with a series of quick slashes.
"YOU BASTARD! I WILL TEAR YOU APART!" The [Demon Son] cultivator had not spoken anything until now, but hearing that Bai Qi considered this a game, he could not help and shout.
Regretfully for him, Bai Qi was indeed playing with him. Moreover, he had only done so to attract the tougher opponents into a trap. After all, without techniques and skills, what kind of challenge could present a spear user that had not even reached the 1st step of the path?
"Go ahead then." Bai Qi stopped his series of slashes and opened his arms, goading the man to attack him.
"YOU!" And again, any experienced weapon user would have assumed it was a trap. And again, the [Earth's Demon Son] cultivator did not and lunged forward to skewer Bai Qi with a crazed shriek.
*Slash*
A lunge that Bai Qi avoided with ease and immediately slashed at the uncovered, dashing by, man.
*Splatter* *Step* *Crash* *Plop*
A fountain of blood in the air;
A single step of a corpse that did not know that it was death;
A headless body that fell to the floor;
A severed head that still had an expression of intermixed anger and terror that also fell to the floor;
The remaining opponent was still busy driving back the continuous assault of Bai Qi's blades. But he still noticed what Bai Qi had done and that he turned to face him now. And while the remaining [Sha Zhu] cultivator shouted, "You monster!" there was nothing but fear in his voice.
But Bai Qi ignored all of that. With a wave of his hand, the sword returned into his [Void Ring], and he picked up the two sabers of the dead one.
"Hmm, not bad. Medium Spirit-tier paired weapons, and while without runes, they do gather qi to improve one's prowess." Bai Qi curiously examined the sabers and even made a couple of trying slashes.
"Leave my brother's sabers!!!" As if Bai Qi had broken a taboo by touching the sabers, the remaining opponent crazily shrieked. And then, ignoring the four blades, jumped towards Bai Qi.
But he did not cross even half of the distance as the four blades converged from different sides and plunged towards him.
*Clank* *Clank* *Clank*
Without a foothold and clearly frantic, the man still showed uncanny prowess by blocking three of them. But there were four blades, and Bai Qi had no intention to show mercy.
A thought crossed Bai Qi's mind as he saw how the fourth blade flew and lodged itself right above the scruff of the airborne cultivator.
*Thump*
***
Gu Guanyu had dealt with his opponents even before Bai Qi had killed his first one and not because he was stronger or the enemies weaker. Just that he had not played as Bai Qi did and, sensing his advantage, did not stop until the three 2nd level Warrior Lords laid on the floor, dead.
"While your prowess is admirable, spending so much time seems unwise." Such were the only words that the [Void Palace] elder shared as Bai Qi finished, to which the latter shrugged with a light smile.
"Should we advance?" Bai Qi asked after a couple of breaths, which he had used to pick up the three [Storage Rings] of his defeated opponents.
"Probably someone already ran out to get reinforcements so we can take our time to accomplish more damage while closer to the [Control Room]. Although if you still plan to rush out, I recommend you do it now." Gu Guanyu answered after confirming that his disciples were close to finished, as there was only a single hostile presence remaining on the 7th floor.
"I will do so then." Bai Qi slightly bowed and then started walking towards the stairs.
"Wait! We will open you a path. Or you plan to deal with the remaining ones by yourself?" Gu Guanyu asked with surprise as he saw that Bai Qi planned to advance by himself.
"Deal with them? Ah no. How could I steal the opponents in the Elder's tower and leave none for you?" Bai Qi laughed. And while Gu Guanyu tried to guess what the youngster was thinking, Bai Qi suddenly took out a sand-colored cloak from one of the storage rings. And after covering himself with it, rushed down while shrieking about demons, [Void Palace] bastards, and so on...
