《MY Life In The Multiverse》Chapter 47: Great odds and Impossible bet

Yuki kept staring at the stingy bastard that was trying to rob him of his own money, and in his mind, this was a huge and unforgivable crime!
Of course, he didn't even question how he considered the money he just stole as his nor that Izaya truly did most of the work, but that's how the mind of a cheap bastard works when it sees someone like him…
Yuki had a weak smile on his face as he said "Friend, you seem to be so well off, how about you leave me this short change"
Izaya's face didn't have any pity on at all. After all, he was a very famous information broker and also runs many gambling places. In fact, some of the people in the room right now were here because they were in debt to him… That's why they kept staring at him fearfully when big dumbo tried to attack him… they also tried the same when they found themselves helpless, but nothing worked...
Izaya shook his head, still with a relaxed smile and said "My friend, if you can call the 50000 Yen you stole as short change, then you are probably way better than me financially"
Yuki's expression behind his kitten mask turned very ugly as he stared at the young man in front of him while thinking 'Eh? 50000 Yen? This bastard was actually observing me all this time and knows how much I stole when even I didn't count the money yet… This guy's eyes are as sharp as his unhuman agility tch, I better not mess with him'
Thought Yuki before he let out a sigh and said "Fine, let's just split it 50-50, maybe this will be the start of many future collaborations"
Izaya seemed to be considering it for a while before he stared at Yuki's cat mask with a weird look on his face and his mouth kept twitching as if he was about to burst and said "S-sure, I would love to"
Yuki didn't understand Izaya's weird reaction, and the latter kept staring at him as he removed the money he stole from his pocket until suddenly, his face froze, all sound disappeared at that moment from Yuki's world as his only focus was on the money he stole… His expected 50000 Yen was only 8700 Yen… and he couldn't believe his eyes as he kept counting them over and over again like a bugged robot, yet he always ended on the same number 8700 Yen. No more, No less...
Izaya who couldn't take it anymore and finally burst out laughing so hard startling everyone in the room and he kept holding his stomach and laughing until tears started falling down from his eyes as he looked at Yuki who was still looking confused as if he lost his purpose in life cracking him up even more.
"YOU BASTARD!" Yelled Yuki who realized that Izaya simply lied to him about the money being 50000 Yen just to trick into splitting it with him which made him feel like a fool for the first time in a while and he ended up punching Izaya, but the latter barely dodged it. However, the strong wind generated from the punch sent cold sweat down his spine and he knew if that punch landed, he would be in quite some pain so he started to look at this boy he tricked just for fun seriously

'This guy… He reminds me of that bastard Shizuo… But he's still not as strong as him'
"Tch, You really got me good" Said Yuki while gritting his teeth and he couldn't help but get reminded of how his grandpa used to troll him making him feel slightly nostalgic at the moment which calmed him down…
Izaya raised his hands in surrender and said with a smile "I apologize, please keep all of it, I already had my fun"
This made Yuki feel slightly better and sat back down on his seat and Izaya sat down beside him
"You remind of an old bastard I know" Said Yuki suddenly which startled Izaya and the latter was intrigued so he asked "Oh, in what way?"
The face of an old man appeared in Yuki's head bringing a smile to his face as he responded to Izaya "If he was here, he would have said, 'Ask your mama, she knows in what way' hahahaha man even now that old man still cracks me up"
Izaya was surprised at first, before he also started chuckling and said "That seems like a fun man, I wish I could meet him someday"
However, after saying this, Izaya noticed that Yuki had a sad look on his eyes that quickly disappeared as he said "I hope I could meet him too…" and he suddenly understood what the latter meant so he didn't ask any further about it and only thought 'What a shame…' in disappointment.
And just at this moment, a man walked in and started calling for names "Yuki, Izaya, Saki, Choza, your fights are starting in two minutes, please follow me"
"Oh, it seems like we are finally going to have some fun…" Said Izaya to Yuki as they both stood up, but only one other person stood up with them with the last one apparently missing…
"Where's Choza? Did he go to the bathroom?" Asked the man who was holding a file with the faces of the people that were going to fight as well as their names. And he couldn't find the huge and muscular bald man named Choza anywhere in the room.
At this point, the man named Saki shot Izaya a nervous look before he said "Choza left the arena"
The underground arena's worker simply crossed Choza's file, signaling that he was disqualified before he said to the trio "Follow me"
The reason he called all three of them at the same time is because generally, fights in the underground arena don't take a long time because of the disparity in the fighter's physical attributes. Not to mention that he had information on their opponents and he didn't give them much of a chance. Especially because of how weak they looked, and he knows that all of their opponents are beast looking huge dudes like Choza…
Yuki calmly approached the counter and said "Where can I bet on myself"
The lady behind the counter looked at Yuki's scrawny appearance in disgust before she said "What's your name?"

Yuki was used to the looks the people gave him, but still, he was very tempted to remove his mask and see the terror washing over this bitch, but he knew it wasn't the time for this so he said "Yuki" And Izaya immediately approached him in intrigue and listened as the woman said
"Yuki, your opponent is Kaku, he has a record of 5-1, the odds are 20 – 1" the woman had a smirk as she said this, clearly she was agreeing with this assessment especially when she looked at the muscular build of this man named Kaku as well as him being a black belt in Karate!
Yuki's face suddenly lit up in excitement as he said "Great" Before he took out 10000 Yen and put it all on himself, this would make him 200000 Yen in profit!
The woman behind the counter thought he was crazy and was about to ridicule him but someone else suddenly placed a bet on Yuki "Here are 50000 Yen, put it on Yuki" It was of course Izaya who couldn't miss winning such easy money especially since his odds were only 4 – 1 because he had some reputation with the underworld, plus he wasn't as mummified as Yuki, and the same thing was with Saki…
"S-Sir, are you sure you want to bet on this tra-" the bitch behind the counter was about to call Yuki trash, but Izaya quickly interrupted her saying "Shut up and quickly proceed with our bets"
The woman was about to get angry but she noticed the man that escorted them here glaring at her to stop causing trouble before he approached them and said with a professional look "Sorry, she's still new here"
Yuki didn't care at all about this woman and was simply staring at the smug Izaya with a jealous look on his face before the door that led to the arena suddenly opened as a man was carried out in a stretcher all bloodied up…
Saki's eyes grew fearful and he started to hesitate in his decision for coming here in the first place. After all, he was only a normal man with a family of three, his wife died so he had to work and take care of his three daughters at the same time which landed him into a lot of debts… So, he was left with no choice but to come to this arena, but seeing how that guy was sent out… He couldn't help but start feeling like he might end up like him and he wouldn't be able to support his daughters!
Yuki could clearly see how fearful that man was so he approached him and tried to talk to him "What's wrong? Is everything okay?"
"I-I can't do this, what if something happens to me? What would happen to my daughters?" Said Saki with pain and agony in his face, clearly he was a person that life wasn't too gentle on…
"Are you here fighting for your family?" asked Yuki which made Saki start telling him his life story which was simply tragic and even the playful Izaya decided to reign in his chaotic personality at this moment…
"What should I do?" Asked Saki tearfully and it only got worse when the worker suddenly said "Mister Saki, it's your turn, please get in the arena in 1 minute or you will be disqualified and fined"
People who miss their fights no matter the reason gets fined 50000 Yen and the higher the level you fight on and the bigger your fame, the larger the fine. After all, you can't waste their time when people are waiting to watch some blood gets spilled, like the man leaving on the stretcher...
Saki's face grew paler until Yuki's hand landed on him bringing him back to reality as he said "How much money do you still have?"
Saki was surprised at this before he said "I probably still have 12000 Yen which I was saving to pay my bills…"
Yuki looked at him in the eye and said "Bet it all on me" Izaya couldn't help but shoot Yuki a weird look as he thought 'Oh, it seems like he's quite the nice guy huh'
"B-B-But you…" Saki was clearly not convinced because if a person's appearance could talk, Yuki's would be screaming that he was trying to kill himself by coming to this arena…
"It's your choice, you can either trust me or not" Said Yuki before he turned around and sat down in a chair and Izaya shot Saki an intrigued smile while thinking 'Oh humans, you wonderous creatures, will you trust such an illogical future or are you going to succumb to life and miss this chance… I really can't wait to see his choice'
The choice was to withdraw and bet it all on Yuki and risk losing all his money and on top get fined the 50k Yen or go fight himself and risk getting seriously injured like the man that just left... Both choices were difficult...
Izaya sat beside Yuki and kept watching Saki in amusement, but the latter surprised him when he didn't wait for too long and decided to bet it all on Yuki… an impossible bet was going to grant him impossible rewards…
An: For those that didn't recognize Izaya, he's from Durarara! And for those who did, good job!
