《MY Life In The Multiverse》Chapter 28: Comforting the Hero

While Yuki was preparing his dinner, Emilia started explaining to him how she ended up here…
"After we got attacked, both Maou and I decided to immediately run away because we didn't want to waste the last reserves of mana we had as we couldn't recover it in this world. Not to mention the possibility of getting innocent people involved in our fight. After all, the destructive power of simple magic projectiles is the same as hand grenades of this world…"
Emilia tried to use an analogy of the weapons of this world to explain to Yuki who didn't know much about magic just how dangerous it could be.
Yuki found everything she said so far was logical, but he suddenly frowned as she still didn't say why she ended up here so he directly asked her "But this doesn't explain why you are here…"
Emilia's face suddenly turned red from embarrassment before she muttered in a low voice "I… I lost my wallet… So, I didn't have any money to go back to my apartment and ended up following after Maou here and was going to ask them to let me stay the night with them…"
Then, Emilia's embarrassment reached its peak as she said in an almost inaudible voice "But then I remembered that you also live here so I decided to ask this favor from you instead…"
Asking a guy she knew only today to stay the night with him… Emilia was no dense woman and she knew what this could imply but this was the only choice she had as she didn't want to go to those two despicable demons…
"Oh, that's all? Of course, you can spend the night here, and you don't need to be so weird about it" At this point, Yuki turned around and smiled at her "After all, you saved my life and I really owe you a lot for it"
Seeing how welcoming he was, Emilia's mood suddenly started turning for the better and she couldn't help but think 'Thank god I met Yuki, otherwise I could've ended up with those two stupid demons…'
"Thank you" said Emilia to which Yuki simply responded with a smile as he refocused on his food before he suddenly remembered something and asked "By the way Emilia-san, how do people from your world learn magic?"
This question was really bothering Yuki as he wanted to get mana to at least be able to cast his skill Dark shield but he didn't know where to start.
Meanwhile, thinking that he was simply curious as magic is like a miracle for the residents of this world that rely on science and technology, Emilia started explaining to him "Actually magic exist in all living beings, but most of the time it remains dormant, and when they interact with a place that contains mana like how my world Ente Isla is, they would awaken it and they would gain the ability to absorb mana, but that's only part of it.

Some people with a strong affinity for magic would automatically start attracting mana, and once they gather enough, they will form a magic core, which is the most important aspect of using magic as it works as a reservoir for mana and the stronger this magic core is, the stronger the magic you could cast would be. This is the basics regarding magic, mana and magic cores"
Hearing her talking about how magic is dormant inside most people, Yuki couldn't help but remember the first reward of his impossible chain quest 'Magic awakening'. 'Don't tell me… From her explanation, it seems that people who awaken their magic gain the ability to attract mana… Is It possible that this Magic awakening reward could grant me similar benefits?'
Wanting to clear his doubts, Yuki immediately asked Emilia as he sat in front of her ready to start eating his food "You said those with great affinity would naturally attract mana until they form a magic core, but what about those that can't do this automatically…"
Emilia watched Yuki starting to wolf his food like a starving monster in amusement before she responded "Awakening your magic only makes your body capable of absorbing mana, but if you don't have a strong affinity towards it, it will make controlling the mana in the air to attract towards you hard. Most people start by trying to sense it first. They would achieve this by extensive meditation in places rich with mana. Then they start intense physical training which would drain the body creating a void that mana would be attracted to fill… and once they get used to the process of absorbing mana. They would start to accumulate it in a single point inside their lower abdomen until they create a magic core"
'I wonder how that magic awakening is going to affect me in this magicless world…' thought Yuki feeling enlightened by her explanation before he said " That's right, you said you didn't want to waste your mana reserves… but how come your assailants don't have the same problems?". Of course, Yuki knew why, but he wanted to hint to her that maybe there was some way to recover it even in this magicless world…
Emilia suddenly frowned when she heard this question because she too couldn't understand how that was possible " I don't know, maybe there's something I'm missing…"
'Get the hint woman, Tch let's try something else…' "Emilia-san, are you really a half-angel like what the prophecy said?" asked Yuki with a curious look on his face
Emilia suddenly had a sour expression on her face as she remembered how she was separated from her father when she was still a child just because of this same reason… So, she ended up responding with a forced smile "Yes, I am"

She was expecting the kid in front of her to go crazy about her, after all the concept of seeing an angel was crazy for the people of this world and she understood this, but Yuki's eyes didn't even blink as he said " This is cool so you are supposed to have holly powers? Or do everybody use the same magic?"
Emilia was surprised at how nonchalant Yuki was but she still responded "Yes, I have holy po-" but then she suddenly stopped as she realized something… 'Wait, I believe angels could convert faith into holy power, but I'm incapable of doing this because I'm only half-angel… Don't tell me, those demons have a similar way and they use it to recover their magic… was this kid leading me to this conclusion on purpose?'
Emilia couldn't help but look at the curious look on Yuki's eyes and she couldn't tell if he was hiding something or not, but Yuki noticed this immediately so he thought with a smug smile 'Bitch don't even think about looking through my poker face, the only thing faker than my face right now is the smile of that bastard next door when he said he only has one bowl…'
"What's wrong? Why did you stop talking all of a sudden?" Asked Yuki while putting on a concerned look…
"N-N-nothing" Immediately replied Emilia before she said "I'm just overthinking some things… let's talk about something else"
'It seems like I achieved my purpose, well she would discover this anyways but at least now she won't let her guard' thought Yuki before he said "Sure, mmm, are you enjoying your time in this world so far, or do you want to go back to Ente Isla?"
Emilia was suddenly stumped by this question as her only desire and mission in life was to get rid of the demon lord so she never really had any thoughts of enjoying her time… not to mention that, unlike the two demons who had each other to rely on in this world, she was all alone…"I don't, I only came here to get rid of the demon lord Satan and I will leave this world after it's over…"
Hearing her response, Yuki couldn't help but look out of the window as he thought 'sigh, how I hate the existence of heroes and the sacrifices they have to make…'
Then Yuki kept exchanging some small talk with Emilia before he washed his 'new' dishes and insisted on giving her his futon to sleep on while he prepared a bed of clothes reminding him of the first day he spent in this world…
"Thank you again…" Said Emilia feeling really grateful at how Yuki was treating her making her feel safe and welcome, although she still felt lost about her purpose in this world. Especially since the more she interacts with Maou the more she finds out how harmless he is which kept throwing her off her game…
After as they both laid down on their beds, Yuki for some reason knew that she was still awake and he couldn't help but say "Are you still awake?"
Emilia was surprised at this question but she responded with a simple "yes"
Yuki thought for a moment before he said "There's a saying I love, it was told to me by the person I respected the most… 'Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first' but you Hero Emilia have the right to say I owe the world… So, stop worrying about the world, and start worrying about yourself, you sacrificed a lot selflessly, and now you deserve to seek your own happiness… Good night my hero"
Emilia didn't respond with words, but her eyes shedding rivers of tears were the best telling to how she was feeling right now as she said inside her head "Thank you..."
The next morning, Yuki woke up early, there was no cliché of suddenly finding Emilia laying on top of him but he knew they became closer after what happened yesterday… So, seeing that she was still asleep he started preparing breakfast for the two of them and after he was done, he woke her up
"Hey Emilia wake up, breakfast's ready" said Yuki as he gently nudged Emilia to wake her up.
"YAWN, what time is it?" Said Emilia as she started stretching lazily while thinking 'when was the last time I slept so peacefully?' this really surprised her as she felt so comfortable to the point that she almost didn't want to wake up…
"It's 7 AM and breakfast is ready, go wash up and let's eat together" said Yuki with a smile that made Emilia absent-minded for a while as she thought 'How nice it would be to wake up like this every morning…' but she then understood what this could mean making her embarrassed so she said "O-okay" and quickly ran away to the bathroom…
'Why's is she acting so weirdly…' Yuki was surprised but he decided to ignore it because his appearance taught him that people could have all kinds of reactions to his face… so, while he was waiting for Emilia, he started thinking about what he should do today…

Condemned
“The human body is a fragile thing. But the soul... The soul is malleable. Easily tainted. All it takes is one drop of blood to dye it all red.” Long ago, in a time remembered only by a few, the seven lords of Syvernia, led by the Great Hero Ludwig, ended the Great Calamity that plagued humanity for as long as time itself. It was the dawn of a new age of man. . . until the thirst for more poisoned the new lords. Slowly, the thread that held humanity together loosened and a thick haze consumed the lands between. Mysterious vanishings, supernatural forces, and silence warns of a looming threat inside the coat of fog. Though the struggle of the realms did not interest Leor, for he was condemned as a Purblight, until he took a seemingly simple job: escort Alden to Lightendale and collect the handsome reward, a reward that would let him live the rest of his life with ease. But it’s never that simple, especially for someone who denounced the Gods. All his life, death followed Leor everywhere he went, cutting down his friends and family. When his first love died at the hands of an agent of light, he was prepared to throw everything away until a mysterious voice promised him a chance for retribution and a chance to bring her back by completing the seven trials. Thrown into the realm's struggle against the approaching haze and themselves, will Leor, a Purblight and an acquaintance of tragedy, use the very power he disdains to accomplish his goals? This is the rewrite of my novel: Condemned; I changed it to past tense and added/ took out some ideas from the original. This is essentially the first draft since I'm writing as I go. Also, there might be or might not be Gore, Sexual, or Traumatizing content. I only put it there for a disclaimer in case I want to add it. I have no set release schedule yet, but I'll try to post once every 2 week. Thanks for your patience.

There's a Hero in the Kingdom
When the world has heroes that occasionally appear from another world, what impact do these heroes have? How do the people already present react? There's a Hero in the Kingdom follows the prince of the Kingdom of Sengar and his closest allies as he seeks out the newest hero that has appeared within their borders. Can he convince the hero to join in his efforts? This is very much a work in progress with the intent that it might someday be a proper series. Constructive feedback is appreciated as I would like to turn this into a fully fleshed out story for that purpose. Thank you. -Fleza Release Schedule: Routine schedule suspended indefinitely. New content to be released when deemed ready.

The Tales of YAP: The Superhero Series
“Listen well, and listen kindly, for my story is a story of contradictions; of the dead becoming alive and the weak becoming strong. Likewise, those nominated as the strong are reduced into the weakest of foes. And lovers, those sweet companions, are nothing but crazed psychopaths. This is the type of story I will tell. The story only I can speak of for it is solely mine. And now, as I recount it to you, thence forth it shall belong to all that hear of it. Listen well, then, for I shall begin.”Sooo, that’s it. The world isn’t what it is. The dead are alive. The weak become strong. And bla bla bla. The normal days of a superhero-in-training, I suppose. I hope you have a bit of patience because my story is a long one, and it starts out in the same old, boring world. My name is Yassi Anne P. Sorento, and this is my story before I became the superhero I am today. (First posted on Webnovel with the same title and under the name, Hua_Li_An.)
