《MY Life In The Multiverse》Chapter 25: Tricking a demon

After Ashiya and Emilia left Yuki alone in his room, he picked up his phone and checked the time before he muttered "Hmmm, it's almost noon huh? this is probably the longest morning I have ever gone through in my two lives, the consecutive events that kept happening are just beyond me… First that weirdo Mashiro caused a big misunderstanding between me and Sorata, then I ended up getting stabbed in the back by my own system and almost getting myself killed by that idiot Ashiya if not for Emilia's timely intervention…"
Yuki couldn't help but let out a tired sigh, but then his empty stomach started growling so he decided to prepare his lunch and fill it up as his body wasn't really going to forgive him if he doesn't feed it…
After he was done eating and washing his frying pan, Yuki decided to lay down on his futon and kept staring at the ceiling while thinking about his current situation and the tasks he needs to accomplish…
'The first task requires me to witness Lucifer and Olba when they initiate their attack on Maou and Emilia, but how am I supposed to find them in that huge underground mall?' Yuki was really stumped by this as this was supposed the be the easiest task of the four, yet he was already finding himself clueless at what to do…
'No, I can't stay here in my room and hope I will find a solution to my problems, the best thing I can do right now is to go to the Shinjuku underground mall and check it out for any good hiding places, especially those that overlook the coffee shop where Maou and Chiho will go on their date!' Yuki finding a direction to start, suddenly stood up in excitement, and then he thought of an even better idea as he muttered to himself
"How about I meet Mashiro while I am at it? It would be much more fun than going on my own, and at least I can divert some eyes away from me…"
So, without further ado, Yuki immediately picked his phone and called Mashiro's number, and the poor girl will never know that she was simply a misdirection…
-------
Inside the Sakurasou dormitory, Mashiro was lying face down on her bed still feeling down from how Sorata treated her and how sad Yuki seemed when he was leaving... but then! Suddenly her phone started ringing, and when she picked it up, she found that it was actually Yuki calling her, something she didn't expect at all so her heart suddenly started beating faster from happiness and she quickly picked up the phone and said "Hi"
"Hi there Mashiro, how are you feeling?" Hearing Yuki's enthusiastic voice made the last of the worries Mashiro still had in her heart completely vanish and she didn't understand why she was suddenly feeling better as she replied "I don't know…"

Yuki could tell from her voice that she seemed excited so he said "You seem quite happy, I'm glad, sorry about earlier, I wish I didn't leave our meeting on such a sad note, and tell Sorata that I'm sorry if I hurt him, I'm just under too much pressure these days…"
Mashiro hearing this immediately responded by saying "It's not your fault! But I will tell him" she was a bit conflicted about talking to Sorata again, but hearing how forgiving her new friend was and the optimistic way he was trying to act, she suddenly felt the urge to follow in his footsteps and decided its better not to keep holding a grudge in her heart and letting it poison her…
"Thank you, by the way Mashiro, are you free to meet me this afternoon?" asked Yuki, while inside he was repeating a mantra inside his head 'I'm not trying to ask this underage girl out, this is definitely legal, I'm only 15 too, yes! this is okay, I'm not one of those predators, no one's going to catch me!'
As he was convincing himself that he was simply going to meet this beautiful girl to help her in her manga and nothing else, Mashiro on the other hand was so delighted by this sudden news to the point that her eyes started twinkling and she responded positively "Um, I'm free"
"That's good to hear, let's meet at the Shinjuku underground mall in an hour okay?" Replied Yuki and after he received Mashiro's confirmation, he hung up the phone as he thought 'It seems like this day might not end up as bad as it started' but then he suddenly thought about something else…
"Wait, I can't go out with a girl with no money… what was I thinking?" Yuki suddenly started panicking at the thought of possibly embarrassing himself with Mashiro and appearing as a cheapskate (Which he was) even though he knew she would probably understand his situation and the current struggles he was going through and won't blame him for it…
"Wait, isn't this what good neighbors are for?" muttered Yuki as a wicked smile suddenly found its way on his face, and for some reason, Ashiya who's in the room next to his, and even Maou who was currently at work, both suddenly felt a chill at the same time!
"What's going on" they both muttered as they suddenly felt their pockets hurting and started feeling like this could be a bad omen, and a bad omen it was as Ashiya heard the dour of his 'dear' neighbor open and his shadow passed by the kitchens window like a ghost as he started muttering to himself "Please don't come here, please don't come here"
But this time, his pleas went unanswered as Yuki started knocking on his door *Tap* *Tap* *Tap* and Ashiya could hear a very gentle voice say "Dear neighbor please open the door, I want to talk to you"

Ashiya felt creeped out by this voice and he couldn't help but remember the gentle appearance he put on when he was trying to murder this kid earlier making him have a feeling of déjà vu as he thought 'This kid is definitely here to cause me trouble, what should I do? should I pretend that I'm not here'
"Ashiya! Open the freaking door, I know you are inside, or do you want me to keep knocking until the landlord comes and kick us both out?" Yuki seeing that his gentle approach wasn't going to work, he immediately changed it to a threat, and the moment he finished what he said, Ashiya moved at an astonishing speed as he opened the door of the room slightly and said "let's call a truce and not involve that purple stuff…"
"Fine with me" Replied Yuki with a smile while feeling glad that he wasn't forced to summon a purple ball to fight on his place against Ashiya…
"So, what do you want?" Asked Ashiya perplexed by Yuki's sudden visit who seemed to have already recovered from almost losing his life…
"Lend me some mon-" Before Yuki could even finish what he was saying, Ashiya's face tuned colder than the other side of their landlord's bed and he immediately smacked the door shut on Yuki's face and locked it in a very practiced motion…
"Hey Ashiya, you evil bastard you didn't even let me finish!" Yuki was taken by surprise at how quick Ashiya reacted to the mere mention of money 'This is guy is really stingy, I should have expected this seeing the way he lives...'
"Sorry Yuki-kun but we barely have enough money to survive in this harsh world, I can't afford to lend you any of it" Ashiya said this with a very regretful tone, and If Yuki didn't know him, he might have actually ended up believing him too, but he wasn't going to fall for the trick of this demon!
"You bastard, you almost killed me earlier and I didn't even ask for compensation, I just need you to lend me some money and I will return it when I get a job, don't worry…" Yuki said, trying to make Ashiya feel guilty about his previous actions and it seemed to succeed as he slowly unlocked the door and opened it again as he poked his head out and said with a face that lacked any traces of trust "Do you really promise to return what money I loan you?"
Yuki put on his most honest face and replied to him "Of course, I promise, didn't I return your knife when you wanted it? I'm a fair person"
"You bastard dare to mention this? I gave you that knife with my hand and you tried to return it to the back of my head! So don't look at me with this honest face" Ashiya quickly rebuked Yuki when he saw how shameless he was acting…
"Oh that actually happened, my hand simply slipped that's all don't take it too serious man, it happens, sometimes someone tries to blast you with magic, and sometimes your hand slip and almost kill him in the process, this stuff just happens don't you think" Yuki had a very wicked smile on his face as he said this and Ashiya immediately started reading between the lines…
'This kid is definitely threatening me, tch, My lord and I need to be careful around him in the future!' feeling that the situation might escalate even more if this continues, Ashiya finally relented and asked Yuki "Fine how much do you need?"
"Not much, just 10000 ye- wait" Ashiya hearing the large number was about to close the door again but this time Yuki stopped him just in time as Ashiya shot him a dark look and said "What?"
"How about 9000?" Ashiya's dark look didn't change at all, "8000?" said Yuki but he still received the same look as Ashiya looked at him with only one eye visible while the rest of his face was covered by the door…
So, Yuki put on a helpless look and said "Fine man you win, how about just 5000 yen, if you still refuse I will just leave"
Seeing that Yuki lowered his asking price by a complete half, Ashiya finally let out a sigh and decided to relent as he said "Fine, but you will have to return it in a month, okay"
Yuki's face suddenly brightened up and with a grateful look on his face gave Ashiya a hug and said "Ashiya you are the best!" Ashiya had a smug look on his face feeling good about himself thinking that he negotiated well as he responded "Fine, fine, you don't have to thank me, this is the hard-earned money by my lord, you should thank him later"
"Of course I will" Yuki immediately responded while still hugging Ashiya, and what that demon idiot didn't notice was a wide evil smile plastered on Yuki's face as he thought 'What an idiot, this is the easiest money I have ever made hahahaha'
That's right, Yuki from the start demanded a high price so that he would make that 5000 yen offer seem more reasonable and it was only long after Yuki left that Ashiya suddenly thought about the situation and was hit by a wave of horror as he mutters "Why do I feel like I got tricked…" but he won't find out until Maou gets back and lecture him about how stupid he was… as for the 5000 Yen, he would never see it again...

Different Dimension Demon
"The creature called human is an intelligent one, a resilient one , but it is also a greedy and vengeful one, hehehe....."That may sound as a bad thing, but for Roy who had accidentally stepped into the demon realm and became a demon by that bittersweet chance, it was the best. "Aye, another man's trash is really my treasure, and what a treasure that is." quietly muttered Roy as he absorbed the soul energy from a soul he had just gained from one of his customers. He slowly sunk his nonexistent fingers into the soul and a feeling of warmth enveloped him.

8 70Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.

8 125Unfettered Spear
[Ratata~] Being showered with bullets from all directions, I certainly don't feel so good. Especially, feeling the bullets passing through my body, which is simply torture. After God knows how long, the gunfire finally stopped. I had my head down, contemplating that this was the end. However, it was at this time that I heard someone jumping off the car in front. I looked up and saw that it was the "Boss." "I should've done this much sooner, you really done a number on my men despite being alone!" "I must admit that you are good, but too good that you're a threat to MY throne!!" "I–" Alas, the Boss' monologue was cut halfway through. When he held his head high, an action to signify his pride, a bullet pierced through his under chin into his brain and out the back of his head. He looked at me in disbelief, like the others around. None of them anticipated that I could still fire my pistol, much less accurately aiming at one's head at the hip level, after being turned into a bloody meat-sieve. "You... Monster!!!" To the Boss' dying words, I only replied with a smile as my strength left my body.
