《MY Life In The Multiverse》Chapter 21: Near death experience

The day was very beautiful and the people were walking around happily, each with their own purpose. However, the only exception to this was Yuki who kept drawing weird looks to himself, because during his journey back to his apartment, His face was still adorned with the shock and fear of finding Himself trapped in this helpless situation as he kept repeating the details of his first chain mission in his head and it didn't fade away even after he reached the Rosa Villa building.
At first, he was thinking about leaving Tokyo completely to avoid any trouble when he notices the dangerous incidents approaching so he wasn't really bothered by them, but as if the system predicted his plans, it trapped him with this mission that was a death sentence for a normal human like him and now he had no way to run from it...
'What land a hit on Lucifer and Olba? What collecting evidence? The only evidence there's is the ashes left after one of them blasts me into oblivion...' Thought Yuki in despair.
Meanwhile, an aura of depression oozed from every inch of his body that disturbed every single person that saw him, Including a red-haired woman that was currently spying on the villa like she always does in her free time. She was trying to see if the demon lord and his general are up to any evil deeds in this new world but so far she keeps getting back home empty-handed and disappointed, almost like she wants them to do some evil so that she finds her purpose in life…
This is also the reason why Yuki changed his mind and decided to accept Mashiro's offer and help her in her manga, at first he was planning on spending the next few days searching for a way to save his sorry ass that was going broke, starting by fixing the terrible condition of his body to at least remove his weakened state...
However, now that he knows that he was probably going to die for sure, either by involving himself in the Ente Isla mess and trying to complete those impossible tasks and end up dying trying, or by failing in one of the tasks and the systems cuts of his lifeline while leaving a game over note just to mess with him and rubs salt on his injury…
So, he decided to change his plans and accept her offer and at least spend the last few days of his life helping a cute girl instead of worrying constantly about his coming death…
"To think I would get such a devastating quest, and it's a chain quest at that… Did I anger this system somehow?"Muttered Yuki who almost started shedding tears while thinking about his hopeless situation, and although this quest was also rich in rewards like increasing all his attributes by 5 which would turn him into a superhuman.
He wasn't interested in any of them because the chance of failing is almost certain especially for the last quest that required him to actually land a hit on Lucifer, and Olba and the funny thing is that it states 'Without getting himself killed'... as if he needed a reminder for that when the price of failing any of the tasks is instant death…

This reminded him of stupid law that used to exist in Britain where if someone tries to suicide and fails to do so. It would be considered as a crime and he would get executed for it as punishment... Oh the mother of irony...
"Well, At least I made a new friend…" Yuki tried to convince himself but deep down he knew he was fucked...
-----
Meanwhile, as he was drowning in his own depression in his own room, A white-haired tall man in the room beside him suddenly sensed a huge amount of negative emotions emanating from somewhere and he actually started absorbing some of it to replenish his mana the way his lord told him...
Of course, that man was Ashiya, Maou's useless right hand, and sensing the weird situation happening near him and the Mana he was slowly recovering thanks to it, he started muttering to himself in delight "My lord was right, we really can absorb negative emotions to refill our mana, but what's the source of it?"
Reaching this point, Ashiya's delighted face suddenly crumbled and what replaced it was a face full of worry as he nervously muttered "… don't tell me, it's coming from that ghos- skeleton! Is he trying to use some kind of curse and lay a trap for me and my lord when he comes back from his work in an attempt to destroy us?"
Ashiya suddenly had a very determined look as he sensed that he recovered a small portion of his magic and with it, he also regained some of his courage and thought that he could face any monster right now so he vowed to himself "No! I can't let this happen!"
And just like that, he picked a ladle from his kitchen as his weapon of choice and left his room, and the more he approached his neighbor's room, the stronger the negative aura felt and the faster his mana recovered…
"What great strength, to unleash all these negative emotions on his own, I was right, that boy must be some sort of vengeful spirit in disguise and is extremely dangerous, I need to be careful on my approach and not alarm him"
Ashiya walked through the enormous negative aura that only he as a demon could see and decided to pretend like he was simply coming by instead of barging in directly so that the evil spirit won't raise its guard.
So, he knocked on the door politely and then put the most harmless smile a demon like him could ever manage and waited for Yuki to open the door... That's when his great plan will come into fruition and he will immediately smash Yuki's face with his demonic ladle…
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
However, to his disappointment, there was no answer at all coming from the room, but he noticed that the negative aura was increasing in intensity!
'What's going on? Is he trying to hasten the processes of casting the curse?" Ashiya thought worriedly when he didn't hear any answer and noticed the ever-increasing negative aura so he started knocking on the door even faster and decided to break in if Yuki doesn't open it fast enough, but hopefully, it wasn't necessary as he finally got an answer from what he considered as a vengeful spirit in the room...

Meanwhile, Yuki's perspective was completely different as he was laying face first on his futon and covering his head with his pillow, drowning in despair from his current predicament and lamenting his fate and he didn't feel like talking to anyone. So, hearing the continuous knocking on his room's door made him very angry which is why Ashiya felt the negative emotions increasing...
Feeling that whoever came to visit him right now wasn't going to stop knocking and even seemed to be increasing the frequency, Yuki finally snapped and yelled in an annoyed voice "Who's it?"
Ashiya's hand that was about to knock froze midair when he heard Yuki's reply and was surprised at the annoyed and unwelcoming tone. However, he was a patient man, and a huge asshole, so he wasn't discouraged by it and calmly replied with a 'gentle' voice "It's me Ashiya your neighbor, I'm here to ask you if you can return the knife we lent you yesterday, I really need it to prepare lunch"
Hearing it was Ashiya and understanding the reason for his visit, Yuki thought 'Can I at least die in peace without this bastard bothering me. Still, he's got a point, I forgot to return their knife, but how come he doesn't seem afraid of me all of a sudden? Not to mention that suspiciously gentle tone he's using, this guy is definitely up to something'
Yuki would never fall for a honey trap, especially one laid out by this idiot so he couldn't help but feel that something wasn't right as the guy who wouldn't even approach him or look him in the eye normally even when Maou is around, would actually take the initiative to visit him on his own alone…
Meanwhile, someone else was observing Ashiya and noticed his weird behavior so she decided to come even closer wanting to see if his intention were as pure as they sounded or if he was finally going to show his true colors to the world…
"One second I'm coming" Said Yuki as he stood up from the futon and picked up the knife that was on the kitchen's counter before he started making his way to the door, and the more he approached it the more he felt that something was weird and Ashiya's behavior wasn't making sense at all.
So, Knowing that he was dealing with a demon, he decided to be careful than sorry and make a last check so he peeped from the hole on the door and saw Ashiya with a harmless smile on his face, clearly just visiting his neighbor to get a knife back right... NO!
'Oh shit, this guy is definitely here for my life, what the hell is going on, does he really not know that he's smiling like a psychopath? What should I do? Am I really fated to die with or without that stupid chain quest? ' Yuki started panicking and Ashiya also noticed this as he was standing behind the door without opening it and the negative aura he was feeling kept growing stronger and stronger…
'What the hell is going on? Is that guy trying to curse me from behind the door? Did he notice my intentions? How? What should I do now? What if he's just standing behind the door to mess with me? But what if he's trying to actually curse me?' a million thoughts and possibilities started racing through Ashiya's head as nervous sweat started falling from his forehead…
'This kid is a true tactician' Thought Ashiya in amazement feeling like he was cornered from all sides...
"Y-Y-Yuki-kun I-i-is everything o-o-okay?" Asked Ashiya with a stutter as he almost couldn't say a full sentence trying to understand why Yuki wasn't opening the door. But Yuki wasn't much better than him as he replied "Y-y-yes Ashiya-s-s-san everything's okay over here" and then he fell silent.
'AAAA if everything's okay, why are you not opening the door, why is the negative aura increasing without stopping, he's going to curse me, he's definitely going to curse me' As Ashiya started panicking like crazy and he finally couldn't hold himself back anymore and conjured a ball of magic from the mana he just recovered and he was ready to blast this damn door and whatever entity laying behind it into smithereens and get it over with…
Meanwhile, for the first time in his life, Yuki felt a horrible feeling of terror as the killing intent of a demon general that reaped countless lives locked into him freezing him in place and made him completely forget everything else as his mind blanked at this moment and one simple word written in blood appeared in his hazy vision 'DEATH'
Yuki understood that he was going to die… but this feeling suddenly disappeared when he heard the voice of a woman say.
"Stop right there Alciel, what do you think you are doing trying to harm an innocent boy" before he started losing consciousness and ended up hitting his head on the door of the room startling Ashiya, before the rest of his body followed after it and slammed heavily on the floor, and luckily, he didn't stab himself with the knife he was holding…
But before completely losing his consciousness, a thought suddenly went through his mind as the image of the person who saved him flashed through his head and her voice kept repeating in his ears 'I'm saved…'

The Painter: A fantasy psych thriller and epic
*** June 21th Update ***- New chapters are being posted! I haven't figured out a schedule yet, but stay tuned!- Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed, I'm happy to say The Painter is in the top 200 best-rated fictions. - Readers of The Painter have suggested reading through Chapter 6 before making a decision on this book.- The story takes place in the Lootverse, but you don't need a canonical understanding to appreciate the storyFinally, a warning or reader beware: This is not an action novel (despite the coming fight scene) but a slow-burn psychological thriller of sorts. For a time, the Painter's life was simple. He lived in the small town of Kinon (called Kinney by locals) with his wife, Kahriah and his son, Thesdon. The story begins with him alone and unable to travel more than a few hundred miles from his home. For 5 years he tried to chart his prison until one day a letter appears with a mysterious commission that will see him test his condition and his boundary. Set roughly 50 years before the impending end of days (from Loot canon), The Painter is a story about loss, grit, and exploration of a seemingly normal man in a world of magic and monsters. The Painter will follow the man on his adventure to restore his family, uncover his commissioners and discover the nature of his condition. Loot is the decentralized, global, community built fantasy world based on Dom Hoffman's art/tech experiment: Loot. Fun fact: The cover of our book is painted by the artist, who the MC is loosely based on and the same person painting the Banners (digitally) IRL for an art/worldbuilding project.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

The Last Death Mage
Since time immemorial humanity has always feared and shunned what it didn’t understand. Over time this changed a bit to encompass things that didn’t conform to their thoughts and ideals. Due to humanity’s stubbornness with which the enforced their ideals many lives were lost and changed. When humanity first clashed with monsters and the beings that use magic, this trait caused many bloody fights. Over time the fights escalated into battles and full on war on several occasions. Humanity due to their adaptability and persistence won many of these altercations, causing huge casualties to the magical beings. Humanity did not come out unscathed however; many of the empires and civilizations noted in human history fell due to these battles and wars. Eventually over time humanity and the magical beings came to a sort of agreement. Magic and the beings associated with it faded into the background of history, being relegated to myth and legend. Humanity meanwhile advanced leaps and bounds once magic faded, leading to our current level of civilization. Not all magical beings were content with this, thus they did their own actions and killed or fed on humans. This has led to many organizations to be formed concerning this, on both the side of humanity and the side of magical beings. They regulate and control the use of magic as well as protect humanity from the darker things that are now not but myth to them, but there is a reason humanity instinctually fears the dark. Unfortunately there are always those that are unsatisfied by the status quo, and those that are prejudiced against things that are different. This is a story of a young man who wanted nothing more than to be normal. Unfortunately Fate and the world he lives in do not easily allow that this, thus his life changed, not for the better. Everyone has heard of or read stories about monsters and legends, heroes and villains, this is one such story. Hi, this is my second attempt at a story here, the first was before the major overhaul happened and i lost everything related to that story due to PC troubles. I hope you enjoy this if you dont please leave some constructive criticism in the comments. An Editor and the like will be needed, but I will edit as problems are pointed out and as i proof read. This story will have no set schedule, unless of course I decide to type up a bunch in succession then i will note that in a chapter beforehand. ADDED NOTE: most sexual content will be in Interludes or sub chapters with a .5 attached. Profanity and gore however shall be plenty in the actual story, though the descriptives for the gore may be added later. (For example, in the prologue that gave a hint at what happened to the MC, will be enhanced so that the gore invokes more descriptive/complete mental pictures, though it may wait.) ~Tyroth Gideon
