Gary was now dealing with an entirely different kind of headache. He’d managed to successfully cause a schism within the cult through secretly sponsoring the Zazz.

However, the schism ended up breaking apart the social fabric of his poor little kingdom. At least he’d be able to get rid of religious schools. He decided to sweep this problem under the rug, until he could figure out a solution. For the meantime he would have to deal with constant religious conflicts. He hoped that perhaps the situation would resolve itself.

This proved to be a miscalculation.

The Garyocracy, as the kingdom was beginning to be called, was in a state of chaos. There were various roaming warbands, but they weren’t rebel groups. The schism had turned to trouble.

At first there was a lot of seething rage from the church at the rising prominence of the Zazz. They had been yelling at each other for a few months, and the Garyocracy ignored it.

Then… a few places burned, and people were there, and the Garyocracy sat back and thought. Ok, problem.

He allowed his congress to draft up a law that declared that the kingdom was secular, and that any religious violence would not be tolerated. This decision was initially unpopular amongst the deeply religious.

It became less unpopular as the deeply religious came closer to extinction.

Over the course of a few years the religious violence had died down, as well as a portion of the population.

Caleb was not happy with his master at the moment. He was grateful to have had his life saved, and to be taken care of, but now his master had simply allowed thousands to die. Not to mention that the thunder god was his own personal god. He began to hide away from his master, and devoted himself to training.

Cara had closed off the moment the Zazz had popped up, and gone into deep meditation. She then experienced deviation from the Garyocracy’s dangerous method. She turned into a ball of annihilation that was slowly expanding from within the training room.

The Garyocracy let out a breath. “Woah… Gonna have to do something about this.” He used a complex runic formation to slow it down. It would one day eat the planet. Faster if he doesn’t update the rune every 6 months. Cool.

The Garyocracy went on to encourage technological development, and to fund the arts. The Garyocracy began to flourish now that there was peace.

The Tersids had thought that the Garyocracy would attack them, but they found that he was content to maintain the status quo. For now the peace would be maintained.

The Garyocracy was searching for something. He was surprised at how long it took him to find out the name of this planet.

This was Helena, and of course that meant the second half of the coward's legacy was somewhere around here. He sent out his agents to scour the continent, and find the location of the legacy.

Unfortunately they couldn’t find it, and anything they did find belonged to someone else. The Garyocracy hoped that no one else had taken his legacy. He decided that perhaps he needed to meditate on the chasing starlight technique. Perhaps it held some clues as to how he would find the inheritance.

Gary left Caleb in charge of things as he flew off to meditate.

Gary had decided that the best place to think on a technique used for space flight would be this planet's moon. He touched down, and then dug himself a cave.

He used his basic knowledge in formations to create a small pocket of atmosphere within the cave. He dug out a meditation room, and kept an opening that allowed him to see the planet. He spent a good many months meditating with little result. This was immensely frustrating, so every once in a while he would run around the moon to destress.

One day as he was running he began to feel a tingling sensation in his body. He jumped up off of the ground, and started flying in the air. He flew around the moon, and then accelerated. He began flying faster, and faster until he vanished.

Gary appeared within a tomb. Of course the legacy would be in the moon! Gary congratulated himself on his great intuition. Within this tomb stood a sarcophagus likely with the body of the mage who set this legacy up. Gary approached the sarcophagus, and opened it up. Inside was a desiccated corpse in old worn out mage clothes.

On his skeletal fingers was a ring, and he wore a necklace. Gary took the spatial ring, and found that it was larger than his, and filled with more treasure. The amulet began shining, and a beam struck Gary in the forehead knocking him out.
