Gary did not know how to land with his method, so he simply crashed into the asteroid. He stood himself up, and wiped the dust off of his new luxurious cloak. It was blue and had shiny golden runes covering it. He’d received it from the Heavenly Prince. It held certain protective abilities. Gary himself was also known quite a bit more resilient as a true wizard. Gary was fortunate that the asteroid had an atmosphere, and breathable air.
He took a deep breath. He felt relaxed, and noted that he didn’t do that very often.
Gary carefully made his way into the temple wary of any traps or monsters that might appear. Of course this was useless as temples are typically meant to be used, and aren’t generally filled with traps. Also, this temple appeared to be totally abandoned.
Gary coughed into his hand, and began walking at a normal pace. He casted a small light to help him look around. He’d learned a few basic magics before his departure. There were various murals on the walls inside of the temples. These depicted a variety of demons. The demons were consuming various human, or demihuman figures. Gary wasn’t much interested as he didn’t know much about demons, except that he wanted to stay far away from them.
On that note Gary heavily considered turning around and flying away. A temple belonging to demon worshipers would have a very high chance of containing an actual demon. Besides the murals the temple was suspiciously empty. He’d looked around, and found a few rooms. A storage room, a kitchen, a large communal bedroom. All the food had long ago turned to dust, and there was very little of value in the storage room. He did find a fine silver toothbrush that had somehow not decayed. Gary also found a large key that likely opened the small door he had found in the bedroom.

He stood in front of the door debating whether or not to risk his life for any secret treasures. Of course he was going to, but he needed to psyche himself up for it. Gary opened the door, and found a long winding staircase. As he descended he noticed that it was significantly colder than the rest of the temple had been. He was certain that his cloak was enchanted against the cold. Gary began shivering. Eventually he found another locked door. Fortunately his key worked on this one as well. On the other side he found a large open room. It was significantly warmer than the staircase. There were bookshelves with old rotted books, tables with black robed corpses sitting on some of the chairs. There was an area that was slightly lower than the rest of the room. In this area there were corpses, grimoires, and wands surrounding a magic circle. A book was floating around the circle. A very bored looking demon, it appeared to be wearing rags ,and its appendages were made out of balck runes. a demonoid shaped mass of black runes, sat in the center of this circle. Gary was slightly startled, but assumed that he was safe from it.
The demon perked up as soon as he saw Gary. He began casting something. Suddenly Gary was in his sea of consciousness. A shifting mass of black runes materialized and lunged towards his now man-shaped soul.
“Give me your body.” Gary heard in his mind.
His soul summoned the black sword and smacked away the runes.
“No, fuck off.” Gary replied.
Gary was now back in reality. The demon had a surprised look on his face, before it shifted into one of fury.
“Are you kidding me? The first idiot to come down here, who knows how long , and I can’t even take his body!” The demon raged.

The demon began silently cursing his fate. Gary went about looting the room. He didn’t find much of anything. Except for a peculiar amulet. Gary stared at his new amulet. It was a strange little thing designed to fight off ghosts. The most curious thing was that it was just a glass vial with a tiny wizard inside of it meditating. He wore golden robes, and was spitting golden runes out of his mouth that were gathering in a halo around him. Gary tried to interact with him, but the wizard merely looked up at him, and resumed spitting out golden runes. Gary decided not to think too deeply about it. He took the wands, and grimoires. The wands could be sold. He didn’t use wands. They were mainly used to shorten the length of ritual magics, or for emergency spells. Some wizards inscribed them with all kinds of magic. However, it took a skilled hand to do so. Most wands only held one or two spells, and there were few who could produce wands. This cult evidently had one of these rare wandmakers. The books may hold magic that was useful, but Gary didn’t know how to decipher a grimoire, especially with the owners dead. Gary reminded himself to get a grimoire. He would likely need many more spells than he could reasonably memorize in the future. Unless of course he receives some kind of perfect memory power later down the road, or if his cultivation had such properties. For now, Gary would have to make do with being a uuh cognitocuck.
“Hey” the demon called “Hey!”
“What?” replied Gary as he was searching a corpse. This one had an amulet. He’d found non magical jewelry on a few of the corpses. He guessed they weren’t ascetics.
“Do you want to sign a contract?” asked the demon.
“No.” Gary stated
“Please?” begged the demon
“Hell no.” Gary replied.
“Look, I don’t want to be stuck here forever. A demon can’t break a contract so how about this. I promise not to hurt you in any way, and I give you any one thing you want within my power, and you act as a temporary vessel for me to escape this magic circle.” offered the demon.
“NO!” Gary yelled.
“Come on, it's a good deal!” Replied the demon.
“Maybe, but you're a demon. You might be lying, and I'm terrified of you. So just so that I can sleep at night I'm leaving you here.” Gary replied.
Gary grabbed the levitating book, and went to go back up the freezing cold staircase.
"Don't you dare touch that book!" Yelled the demon.
"Too late it's mine now" replied Gary.
“GRaaa. Listen here.. YOU! I swear on my name that I will find you, and I will eat you for this.” The demon yelled impotently into the empty room.
