《The Bartender at the End of the Universe》Ch 94: Diverging Paths

Sid had been acting strange since they arrived in this place. Ted had noticed that Sid was glaring at him, but whenever he turned to look his way, Sid's expression had changed back to being neutral. It made Ted uncomfortable, and he regretted fighting against splitting up, even though he could not see that going well at all.
"Almost feels like a waste of rope," Sentenza muses.
"It has been just one hallway this entire time," Trizel agreed as he stepped right onto the pulsing light inside one of the polygons.
"You may want to watch your step," Narissa warned. "Otherwise, your cute little head is liable to wind up on the floor, dear."
Trizel stumbled slightly, but other than that seemed to be fine as he kept walking. "This is merely illumination magic. Nothing to fear."
Narissa smiled widely. 'Well, if you're so sure. I suppose I'll trust your expertise on this then."
They came to the first fork in the path. the hallway led to a dead end with a path going to the right and to the left. They all went over to the left, while Sid stayed back a moment as he looked over towards the right.
"Are you coming, or wha..." Sentenza stopped talking as he turned around. He saw Sid sprinting down the right hallway as fast as he could. Instead of saying anything else, he just raised an eyebrow before he turned around and continued to head down the hallway.
"Wwwwaaaiiitttt, wwwhhhyyy'sss hhheeee llleeeaaaavvviiinnggg?" Bakade asked as she took a step back towards Sid's quickly shrinking form.
Trizel put a hand up to stop Bakade. "Seems like he has decided not to follow the plan. No doubt he feels sure his search for information is more important."

"Just let him leave," Og'drimun said as he turned to float on his back. "If he wants to risk running into the darkness all alone, I say we let him."
Why don't I check on him at least? Death suggested. Can't really leave one of my bros hanging, you know?
"That's probably the best idea we have, unless we all chase after him, but I don't think this would be the last time he'd run off like this." Ted agreed.
Sid's eyes darted around as he pressed forward as quickly as his legs would take him.
Bro, wha...
Death appeared behind him, but he didn't stop moving. So, the skeleton was quickly left behind as he continued to press forward. This made his voice quickly fade into the background.
I...just...want...to...talk. Death popped behind Sid over and over again just to deliver a single word before the mechanical man was sprinting out of range again.
Fine...have...it...your...way...bro. Death grumbled as he continued to pop in behind him. What...are...you...doing?...Why...did...you...split...from...the...group?
Sid came up to the first room to his right. He jumped past the open doorway, as it was a good few feet up from the ceiling he was walking on. Inside it was a barren space. A perfectly square room with the eleven-sided polygon in the center with nothing on what was supposed to be the floor. The walls were just as empty. After a moment there, he leaped back out and continued to sprint down the hallway.
Come...on...say...something...
"You're so curious?" Sid snapped as a sneer crept onto his face. "Fine then! I'm easily able to map my way forward, and can cover more ground on my own. This may be our only chance at this, and I will not allow it to be wasted."
Hold...on...I...missed...chunks...of...that... Death tried to explain as Sid refused to slow down.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture

The Badboy Prince Just Can't Resist
"Why are you so nervous?" "I'm not.""Your pupils dilate every time you look at me. What are you so worried about, sweetheart?" He asks me, his warm breath fanning my ear. I rolled my eyes, and he took that as a response. "Why are you so afraid of me, Annalise?""I'm not," I repeated in a firm tone, trying to stop my body's temptation of leaning into his touch. "Then why can't you think properly while so close to me?" Damien's lips were now grazing my ear. His strong arms expertly pull me in, arms crossed around my waist ready to spin me back out. I despised the way he made me feel when we would dance, as if I liked being under his lead- it infuriated me. "I can think just fine." I spin myself back out, trying to take control. He chuckled,"This is why I find you so intriguing. You want to resist me, and I haven't found somebody like that before. It's quite frustrating, having someone who doesn't bend to my will."The nerve of this man!I scowled,"I'm not just going to follow your every command. Being a Prince doesn't mean you gain-""I could give you anything. A title or land, and any other girl-""I'm not just 'another girl' who will bend to your standards. I don't have time to pamper your ego as if you own the school.""In fact, I do. Thank you for reminding me sweetheart, sometimes I forget." Arrogance laced his tone, sending my fury into overdrive."I am nobody's sweetheart, especially not yours."His laugh sent vibrations through my body,"You have never failed to amuse me. I think we should get to know each other better." I felt his lips against my ear curl into a sly smirk.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Cover by @afranticdreamer#4 romance #1 royal 9-29-2020#1 kingdom 3-30-2020#3 king 4-3-2020#1 princess 4-13-2020#1 new 5-14-2020-All rights reserved -Kick back and enjoy a book with a little bit of mystery, magic, humor, and don't forget romance
