《The Paths of Magick》Lore - The Path of the Spiritualist III: Emergence

Emergence, The Awakening of the soul
There is no exact region in which the soul binds to the body. There are regions where the fabric between realities is thinner and, thus, easier to argue being a tether point. These regions of convergence between the Material and soul Planes are known as Loci or Gates. The largest Gate is known as the Inner Source, found near the brain.
To further one's control over mana and the Arcana found in all things, a spiritualist needs to Awaken their soul. The soul is an echo that reverberates one's will, strengthening it.
spiritualists can only have sway over foreign mana that falls within the Arcana of their mana Organs. They need to harvest mana to sway mana further. A Fire Augmenter has influence over mana that is similar to Fire mana. They can perhaps extinguish a flame but could not as easily manipulate ice.
The soul allows a modicum of control over all mana. It enables a mage that does not specialize in Fire magic to wield it, though at a much lesser degree. For more information about the benefits of Awakening a soul, read The Path of the soulcerer by Malphas Eventide.
Awakening one's soul is mostly based upon luck for both mages and Non-mages. But, it cannot as easily be taught. Injecting foreign mana into one's spirit is the easiest method for Awakening, but only for Non-mages. The more powerful a person's spirit, the less effective the injection of foreign mana is for Awakening. Since a spiritualist's specialty is the augmentation of the spirit, they cannot Awaken through foreign mana.
A spiritualist has to breach their Inner Gate to Awaken their soul. The process is unique to every mage and cannot be taught. It is like trying to explain a color without using colors. Or trying to explain heat to one that cannot feel heat. The process itself is similar to Awakening the Sleeping mind.

Confluence & Immanence, The Attuning of Within
There are two major stages during the Awakening: Confluence and Immanence. Confluence is the binding of the Immortal and Mortal minds. Confluence occurs by attuning oneself to their soul. This process is known as Attuning to soulcerers. The specifics are detailed in the Attunement Section of The Path of the soulcerer.
Immanence is the living of within. It is the ability to enter one's soul Palace. It is similar to the entering of a mind in that it's a mental construct. When one enters their mind, they enter a place of vast darkness with dark water underneath. Each person may have variations of such a construct, but it is mostly the same. In this place of vast darkness, they can evoke Arcanums, activate their magical Senses without the superfluous muddle of their Mundane ones, and practice Mentalism. One cannot create something out of nothing whilst in the mind without guidance or practice. A soul Palace is not bound to these rules.
A soul Palace is a mana construct and, as such, can be manipulated in any which way, allowing a mage to practice techniques and Spells without expending mana. A boon to any mage, gifting them the ability to keep their magicks a secret from the outer world.

Cry of the Mer
Katherine Waters has several goals on her list. Graduate high school, get accepted into an advanced photography course, add another ten meters to her personal free-diving and deep-water diving records respectively. Waking up in the stark, sterile environment of an underground lab, part of a secret and illegal experiment definitely didn't make the list. Nor did discovering not only were mermaids not the stories of legends people thought they were, but advanced genetic manipulation had slotted her for an extreme physical transformation. Faced with an unknown future in captivity, forced to adjust to a new body and lifestyle completely alien to her, with only a psychologically damaged young Mer for company, Katie's life has taken a dramatic turn and she'd do anything to escape it, return home, and regain any sense of the normalcy she lost the moment she opened her eyes.

The Scarlet Knight
Caitlin's life was finally going the way she wanted: Her family's restaurant was taking off, she got accepted to the school of her dreams, and her younger sister was finally in a better place. That all changed when her family's restaurant broke out in flames during a party. Caitlin's life is forever changed. She died, and unlike the ones who came before her, her fate has been predecided by the gods. Now she must battle her way through a series of unfortunate events, stay alive, and confront the gods themselves. The Scarlet Knight is a short story that takes place in the same universe as The Reborn. There are elements of Gamelit inside, but nothing too extensive. I write the Scarlet Knight on my phone, so there are grammatical issues inside. You do not have to read The Reborn to enjoy this story.

Sometimes, bad things happen to bad people. Joey is one of those bad people. She's not incompetent, but she's not a genius either, unless you count partying. Which you shouldn't. FORTUNATELY, the wheel turns, and the day of that wedding, the city is attacked, and Joey is stolen away, in a manner which is entirely painful and appropriate. She is dragged through the portal, and sentenced to Eternal Torment...which just so happens to be very similar to some-nerd-shit RPG video game (Joey's words, not mine).
