《Into The Portal: Monster Invasion》369- Seed Acquired

“So this is the tower seed.” Miles looked at the small item floating in the separate room on the 50th floor. The seed was spinning endlessly in the air. It was darker than the night.
“If I touch it, the door will appear for me to leave, then the tower will be demolished,” Miles said and touched the seed. As soon as his finger touched the spinning seed, it stopped altogether and started to fall down. Miles caught the seed and took a step back. The tower started to shake madly, and even dust and debris started to fall.
“50 floors to climb.” Miles sighed and ran up with everything he had. In no time at all, he reached the first floor and saw the door once again. After he left, the tower crumbled on itself and doors fell down towards the newly created hole on the ground. Miles looked down but the only thing he could see was darkness. He turned back to the cave and started to look around.
“Too bad there is nothing in the cave.” Miles lamented as he looked at every nook and cranny to find nothing. There wasn’t even a core.
“The Queen probably consumed all of them.” Coin commented.
“Yeah.” Miles sighed as he started to climb back to the surface. As he reached the surface, he was taken aback by human standing not far away from the hole and inspecting the battlefield. At first, he thought it was an enemy but the insignia on the man’s uniform indicated that he was working for the academy.
“Hello there.” He called out although he didn’t lower his defenses.
“General Kenobi?” The person looked at Miles and asked with a tilt of his head.
“What?” Miles asked in bewilderment.

“Sorry. It is an old joke.” The man laughed as he looked at Miles from top to bottom. “You are Number 2 right?”
“That is me.” Miles raised Coin to show his student ID.
“Dean was worried about you since you have been away for so long.” The man said and reached out for his inner pocket. As he did, Miles drew out his dagger to prepare but the man raised both his hands. In one of them, he was holding an envelope. “Easy there, tiger. Dean wanted me to give you this.”
“Why paper?” Miles asked in suspicion. Ever since he learned that the log book was an ultimate he had a suspicion about anything ancient.
“AI wristwatches can be hacked. Energy can’t.” The man said as he threw the envelope toward Miles. “Dean sealed it so it can only be opened by your energy signature.”
“What is it Dean wants?” Miles asked as he looked at the envelope with energy vision. There was a rune on top of the wax seal. Miles didn’t know what the rune was for but he had seen the insignia when he carried the packet Milosh sent for his mother. So he let his energy into the rune and in the next second, it dissolved on its own.
“There is an international competition between academies of two nations on Earth.” The man said with an amused look.
“You mean Unity and ours?” Miles asked.
“Precisely.” The man nodded and added, “Every year, the best academies in both nations compare against each other to see the level of their education. The Dean wants you to join the competition since you are one of the strongest newbies.”
“When is it starting?” Miles asked as he opened the envelope. Inside there was only a piece of paper. On it was written; “Miles, fucking hurry. Pretty please.”

“Tomorrow.” The man said and turned to leave. “You were away for more than a week so Dean thought you might have come here. Luckily he was right.”
“Where are they going to hold the competition?” Miles asked as he started to follow the man.
“Somewhere inside the walls.” Man shrugged. “It changes depending on the setting.”
“It is not fixed?” Miles asked. He hadn't heard about this before, which was strange. Cross Family had an academy of its own.
“Must be about energy. Since the government tries to hide energy, it is normal for you to not hear it before.” Coin said in his mind.
“True.” Miles nodded as he looked at the man, who started to answer his question.
“It is not.” He said. “One time it was to hunt monsters outside of the walls. One time it was students competing against each other. They are coming up with new ways every year, but this time it is inside the walls for sure.”
“How do you know?” Miles asked as he processed the information.
“Because, monsters, animals and walking dead are quite restless lately. Outside is too dangerous.”
“But, the rewards are excellent.”
“Oh, what are the rewards?” Miles asked in wonder.
“Don’t know the full details, but one of them is the first-ever Frenzy-Rank, Dual Elemental Orb.” The man said.
“Impossible!” Miles exclaimed as he halted.
“Why are you so worked up?” The man turned to look at Miles to see he was sweating and was pale. “Oh, right you were away for a long time, you didn’t hear about it.”
“Hear what?” Miles asked hurriedly. He was the only one who could manufacture Dual Elemental Orbs and he never created one in Frenzy-Rank. Although he had a theory about it, he never had the chance to try it since his energy was elementless. But ever since he awakened the second element, he wanted to try to see if the idea he came up with would work or not.
'Can it be mother?' He asked but denied the possibility. 'She took an entirely different path and created the Mechs. It can't be her.'
“The chief scientist Adam Aurora discovered the secret behind Dual Elemental Orbs and thanks to his method, the first ever Frenzy-Rank Dual Elemental Orb was born.”

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

What will he do after the life he knew was uprooted and taken away from him? Will the 'demon magic' that caused his exile from the Elven Tribe bring him into a slow descent into madness? Book 2 description: Having found a life for himself outside of A'vetheas, a family, enrolled to a good school, and a potential romantic partner, John Sarvod continues on with his life the best he could, carrying himself forward, until... He messes it all up again. This time, however, it isn't because of his magic. It was by his own demerit. What is the cause of despair? Find out in Consignor Book 2. Old description (Without spoiler) John Sarvod, user of the most powerful healing spell [Heal], the rare ability to heal and recover all injuries, is the only human that lives in the Elven Tribe. Though he was gifted with [Heal], he could not cast any magic other than his one and only [Heal]. Aside from his current training to become a royal scribe, he is known to all elves as the ‘Healer of A’vetheas’ and had gained a certain amount of respect from them due to how much he works. But life for him in the Elven Tribe, A’vetheas wasn't never always like this. Because he was human, and that the Elves have isolated themselves from the outside world, his presence initially was not welcomed by the elves that thinks highly of him today. It was all thanks to the Elven Queen who brought him in, and the Elven Princess, Raina Valindra Eridi, that he could reach this day. But things changed when the Raina that he so adored used the teleportation device for a small date with him, where they met with danger that the [Heal] that he relied all this time could not save him from… In his desperate attempts to save Raina, John ended up committing a taboo of the elves. As for his punishment when he returned to A’vetheas? That was just the beginning of him, continuing the path that he had inevitably taken prior to the life he had before he lived in A’vetheas. This is a story of a not too average person end up becoming something that he could have never imagined. A monster? A demon? A god? Only time will tell. It is just a matter of time that John Sarvod would embrace his true self. Content Warning because I want to have flexibility, and maybe it gets overwhelming at times. I have a backlog already, this story won't be dropped. Edited: romance tag to action tag, story has more or less of both, but yeah. There's slice of life tagged in because my story progresses not too quickly (by my opinion) I like to take things slow, I suppose. :3
