Legacy of the Mage Hunters

In all the vast world there have always been those who have and those who have not. This goes for everything from success to resources, to Power. While people can be judged on many things it is the ethereal idea of Power that most people get hung up on.

Generations ago one man rose to power in Tython only to be cast out for being different, for being uniquely able to fight back against the ruling mage-ocracy that defined all kingdoms. The rules of the lands were simple, if you had power and were able to make the world follow your will you were king. And if you could not wield the power of the arcane world that surrounded you, you were nothing. That was until Lincon Cerusian was born.

He was the first human recorded who was born with the Magical Ability: Magic Immunity, an ability that he quickly Maxed out. From there he gained more and more Magical Abilities, Magic Convert, and finally he came to the realization that there were multiple other forms of magic out there. The most notable being that he could finally wield magic, eventually. Though his magic was an off shoot, a strange and mysterious force that focused through the mind rather than the core like regular magic. In time he began teaching and building a community of cast offs who had been born with Magic Immunity.

For many Magic Immunity was just a precursor, a steppingstone to being able to wield weird and unique forms of magic that could then be taught to the next generation. Better still, with Lincon collecting other outcasts he managed to have a group of people with one unique trait that could do one thing with exceptional force. That one thing, kill any mage.

At first, the group practiced in secret. Their natural immunity making it easy to avoid scrying magics, oracular abilities, and other means of magical detection. They were by order of their very birth the perfect counter to those who would wield magic as a tool for subjugation.

At first it started with simple requests. The group had no real possessions as most found it easier to be wanderers than not. Still, they flourished as many would piece together meals and other offerings to help dispatch evil mage rulers, who fancied themselves as gods.

Thus, it was that the Cerusian Mage hunters first began. They worked from the shadows, often using locals to be their eyes and ears for corruption. They were the unofficial watchdogs of the many different empires, gaining vast networks of people to help join their cause.

In fact, many guards were often accepted into the Cerusian order. These guards often pushed to be placed on the revelation details, these were the guards who went around with the diviners who helped unlock a child’s potential. Two such guards from Tython had also been part of the order, their job was to take children that had been marked as having Magical Immunity and set them off at the southernmost point of the empire.

This normally isn’t a problem as the Cerusian Collection group often patrolled the areas to the south of cities, following the exact path of the diviners. The only problem for the order was seven years ago there was a surge of Magically Immune children being identified in Tython, seven to be exact. Though the order only managed to retrieve six. When the order went back to pick up the seventh, he was assumed to have been consumed in the volcanic eruption that happened in the fiery plateau.

Yet as time went on, more and more details of a Lykan Vita entering Sidhertha Academy began to grow to light. Lykan Vita of course being the name of the seventh child from Tython, the missing child. The child who had long since been disregarded as a lost soul. The only problem being that the boy with the same name kept coming up in stories of prowess. A dragon slayer and a wielder of old-world laws.

“We need to make contact with him.” Hellena Cerusian granddaughter to the great founder of the Cerusian order, and current leader of the Cursian Order said. Though her tone brokered this as being more of a command than anything.

“We are working on it. As you know we can’t get anyone into the Academy. But we did manage to get a member into his crew.” Trenton Painter answered.

The Academy was of course a reference to Sidhertha Academy, an academy that was so large and pervasive that it overshadowed any other academy on the continent. Even the Azani’s attempt at an academy paled in comparison to what the kingdom of Sidhertha had managed to create.

Hearing this Hellena nodded in understanding, it was tough getting a spy in the military.

“What of our current contracts?” She asked, moving onto the next order of business.

“We have twenty-four active and five pending.”

“Pending?”

“Yes, we are evaluating the difficulty of the contracts. Also, we might have problems with a current contract.”

“Explain.”

“Well, it is an already accepted contract for a royal member…” Trenton began.
