《Immortal System: Era of Adventure》Chapter 47: Meditation Arts and Techniques

Even if people didn’t have the system to guide them, they would steel feel the desire to improve and find ways to do so. Before the system existed, people improved themselves through the use of meditation arts and meditation techniques. By using these two methods people were able to improve their bodies, minds and reach higher tiers.
Teacher Isabelle had explained some of the history of meditation arts and techniques to Zane before. To this day, many people still argue about what came first meditation arts or meditation techniques. Nobody can verify the truth of what happened in the past, but most people are certain of one thing. Prior to the appearance of the system, meditation techniques were much more advanced than meditation arts.
In the past mages was the term use to describe most magic users. Mages were the most powerful people before the system and the only way for mages to increase their strength was through meditation techniques. Therefore, it was correct to assume meditation techniques were much more advance than meditation arts. Plus, when people tried to search for meditation art and techniques of the past, they mainly found meditation techniques and only found a few meditation arts.
People struggled to understand why there was a lack of meditation arts. It didn’t make sense for there to be such a large gap between the two methods to obtain power. This caused people to develop multiple theories and start to research the history of meditation arts.
Meditation arts were created and used by warriors. In the past anyone who fought relying on their body was seen as a warrior. It didn’t matter if they drew upon their internal energy or utilized the mana around them. In the past, most people believed that warriors fought with their bodies up close and mages used magic to fight from a distance. People were able to obtain this information by gathering scattered historical documents.
Eventually, people began to see a reason for the gap between the two methods. A meditation technique required a certain level of talent and mental aptitude. If a person was lacking in talent or aptitude the meditation technique would have a lesser effect on them. They would struggle to improve, but they would still be able to experience some growth.
A meditation art was different. To successfully use a meditation art, it required the person to be talented and have a physique that was similar to the creator of the meditation art. A high talent with an improper physique would have poor results when using the meditation art, but a low talent with a very similar physique would have great results when using the meditation art.

However, it would be incredibly difficult to find a physique similar to the creator of the meditation art. If the creator was dead that difficulty would increase because there would no longer be a living physique that people could use as a comparison. It was theorized that any meditation art that was passed would slowly become useless.
It was also theorized that most creators of meditation arts wouldn’t even bother to teach what they created. If they tried, they would have to go through repeated failures before finding a person that might have mediocre or poor result when using their meditation art. It would make sense for the creator of the meditation art to focus on improving themselves rather than teaching others. This would mean that many creators of meditation arts wouldn’t even bother to write down what they created and there would be very few recordings of meditation arts created in the past.
Each meditation art and technique were created by an individual for themselves. It is very rare to find a meditation method created for the average person. Even if a meditation method suitable for multiple people was created, it doesn’t mean that the meditation method is suitable for you. If you were meant to have a meditation method than you will create one yourself. Otherwise, it’s best if you rely on the system to grow.
Zane recalled what Teacher Isabelle told him about meditation methods. She insisted that he never use one that was his tier or higher. She told him it would negatively affect his growth and create unnecessary hardships on his path. It would be best for him not to use any foreign meditation methods. However, if he did find a meditation that was beneficial to him, he should make sure it was at a lower tier than himself. If he reached the first tier, then he could use a tier zero meditation method. Since he was at tier zero then he couldn’t use any meditation method.
Regardless of people’s personal opinions about different meditation methods. Most people agreed that an individual had to be very talented, lucky or both to create a meditation method. The question know was which one was Zane.
According to my status page, I’m not a person with a lot of talent, so I must be very lucky, Zane thought to himself. Talent, luck, who cares which one I have. The most important thing is that I created my very own meditation art.

Zane started to laugh again once that thought went through his head. It took a while for him to calm down from his excited state. Although he was still excited about the creation of his own meditation art, he no longer jumped around and burst into laughter at the thought of creating his own meditation art. Zane calmly stood still and tried to contain his excitement as he read the details about his meditation art.
Meditation Art: ???
Grade: Uncommon
Level: 1
Proficiency: 0/1000
Tier: 1
Description: A meditation art created by Zane based on his understanding of weapons. By treating the body as a weapon, one is capable of improving their understanding and connection towards all weapons while improving their mind and body.
Effects: +30 stamina, +6 Will, +3 Dex, and +2 to all other stats per level
Zane stopped reading once he read the phrase ‘a meditation art created by Zane’. He immediately burst into laughter as he once again felt the excitement of creating his own meditation art. Zane had to take a few more deep breaths so he could calm himself down and continue reading the description of his meditation art. After he drew on all his willpower Zane was able to finish reading the description and effect of his meditation art. Right before he was about to burst into another bout of excited laughter Zane felt and saw an important system message appear right in front of him.
What name would you like to give to your meditation art?
Finally, Zane felt something other than excitement. The excitement was still there, but now it was accompanied by the feeling of confusion. What should he name his meditation art? Zane spent the next dozen minutes going through several names, but none of them felt right. He thought about using his own name, famous names from history and made-up names from fictional stories. However, none of them seemed like a good fit for his meditation art. Eventually, Zane asked the system if he could postpone naming his meditation art and the system agreed.
Once Zane postponed the naming of his meditation art, he felt a rush of cool energy flow through his body. He leveled up. Not once, but twice. Checking his system messages Zane saw that he had received 100,000 experience points for creating a meditation art. Immediately after the message about an increase in experience Zane saw that he had another important message.
Congratulations! You have been awarded the Meditation Art Creator Ⅱ title.
It wasn’t unexpected for Zane to be awarded a title for creating his own meditation art, but he was still caught off guard. He was so excited about creating his own meditation art that he never stopped to think about the benefits he would get for doing so. Now that Zane knew he had a new title he had to check out its effects.
After summoning his status, Zane started with looking at his stats. He remembered that his bloodline activated and he wanted to see how much his stats had increased. After he subtracted the increase from his level up and the stat points he gained from his meditation art, Zane saw that he gained eight stat points to each stat. He was happy to see his bloodline was capable of increasing his stats by so many points, but it didn’t cause him to feel the same level of excitement he felt when he created his meditation art. After Zane confirmed the increase in his stats, he went down to the title section and ignored everything else.
Meditation Art Creator Ⅱ:
A title awarded for creating a meditation art at the uncommon grade under tier four.
Increase all stats by 10%
Zane felt proud when he read the information about his new title. He felt like he achieved something great and was glad that the system acknowledged it. There were still more messages for Zane to look over, but he didn’t want to focus on them at the moment. For the next few minutes, he wanted to spend his time exploring his meditation art.

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
