《Endless River (Isekai LitRPG)》Chapter 20 - Fighting The Alpha

I heard a heartbreaking sound from behind me...
Then, Pak!
I was no longer able to sense the life force of the Mama tiger, she died...
Sigh...
I activated Sky Dash and continued running in the direction of the nest!
*BOMM!*
I heard the sound of a tree falling a couple of hundred meters behind me, the monster is still chasing me...
After the duration of Sky Dash ended, I kept flying at full speed. It only took me a while to arrive. The Mama bird was already standing at the edge of the nest, she seemed to sense that something was wrong and was looking in the direction from where I came.
*Screech!*
I made a high-pitched sound, signaling danger. At least, that's what I wanted to convey.
I dropped both cubs in the nest, scaring the shit out of Kali. The Mama bird didn't seem to particularly care, she could sense they were weak.
*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*
You could hear the sound of a huge figure running at full speed in our direction.
*Whoosh*
The Mama bird flew out of the nest, flying directly to meet it.
I grabbed Kali and put her on a branch above the nest, afraid that she'd injure the two cubs thinking they are food.
Then, I chased after to provide some backup.
*BOMM!*
There was the sound of two mountains colliding after I arrived at the scene I finally saw who it was.
It turns out, that it's the same Mandrill Alpha from before. These two sure have a grudge, if looks could kill they'd both die.
I used my appraisal on him, and it finally worked. The system told me before, that appraisal is directly linked to my Spirit attribute, the higher your spirit the more in-depth you'd be able to dig into the target's body and unravel its information.
[Appraised Target: Dark Vunamian Mandrill
Cultivation Realm: Foundation Establishment(Low)
Health Points(HP): 490/511
Magic Power(MP/Mana): 323/323
Spiritual Power(SP): 144/144
Magical Resistance: 49
Physical Resistance: 46
Spiritual Resistance: 29
Vitality: 155
Strength: 148
Stamina: 139
Intelligence: 141
Agility: 152
Spirit: 95
Description: The Dark Vunamian Mandrill is a monkey species that specializes in long-range attacks with rocks and is extremely strong in close-range fights thanks to their high Strength, Stamina, and Agility. They have several stealth skills that hide their presence and they can blend into the darkness.
Weakness: Very low spiritual resistance compared to monsters of the same rank.
]
It's the first time that I was able to appraise a Foundation Establishment, I asked the system and it said that it's thanks to the rise of my Spirit attribute, they are correlated.

This is the strongest monster, I've ever encountered so far. When it comes to its Stats they're scary, but I shouldn't focus on them too much. They don't take Skills into consideration, but this much information is already good.
I wasn't afraid of it, with the Mama bird around we are safe.
*Bang*
The Mandrill threw a giant rock that split a big tree in half!
Shit! Exactly what I was saying is if that rock hit me I'd without a doubt die a horrible death.
I flew into the tree to hide between the branches, his full focus is on the Mama bird now. Using his spiritual sense he can only sense that I'm a strong Mid Body Refinement. Practically an ant.
I focused on their fight, waiting for an opportunity.
The Mama Bird launched three big Wind blades, only for them to be blocked by a dark shield that he formed in front of his forearms.
She followed with a physical charge, claw first.
*Bang*
The moment they collided, the force with which they both charged sent them flying a couple of meters back.
This is my opportunity!
At this point, I was already in a tree behind the Mandrill.
Advanced Predator's WarCry
[Predator's WarCry(Active): Grants the user, the ability to use their Spiritual power through sound. Cost(100SP Max) |Advanced|]
I used the maximum output of this skill.
*Screeeeeeeech!*
The Alpha was stunned and stopped moving, I directly created the biggest four wind blades I'm capable of with my total of 122 Int, I sent each two at his legs joint, behind the knee.
The Mama Bird also took advantage of this opportunity to charge at him at full speed, while sending three wind blades directly into his neck area.
This process sounds complicated, but all of this happened in a single second.
*WHOOSH* *WHOOOOSH*
All of the wind blades that we formed, hit their target perfectly.
*Bang!*
She directly smashed into his chest and pierced it with her claw, and bit down with her beak hard at his face.
*Thudd*
The big monster fell hard on his back.
I originally wanted to use Fiery Charge to grab the kill, but I had no mana.
I flew 100 Meters above his body and launched consecutive wind blades at his throat, just as the Mama bird flew back!
*Whoosh* *Whoosh* *Whoosh* *Whoosh*
The four wind blades landed perfectly, each one digging deeper than the last one until the fourth completely severed its head from the rest of his body.
[You have Killed a Foundation Establishment(Low) Monster |Experience Points +12.000|]

[Congratulations Host for Leveling up from 18 to 19. +5 Stat Points, +2 Skill Points.]
[First Foundation Establishment Defeated Bonus |Experience Points +10.000|]
*Pheww*
That was fucking intense!
This is exactly the type of advantage I knew I had when I focused on Spirit.
I had 171 Spirit and the Alpha had very low spiritual resistance, It was stunted for around 1-3 seconds and that's all we needed.
The highest damage dealt was definitely the Mama bird and not me.
I felt slightly guilty about the tigress, would I have made any difference if I stayed?
But looking at the giant ass tree that fell after one hit from a rock thrown by the Alpha, I laughed at myself. Yeah right!
I have very low vitality, I may be strong in Damage, Spirit, and Agility but my defense is definitely sub-par.
I need to focus on it from now on...
If I meet a Foundation Establishment without a big shield such as the Mama bird, I would be a goner.
The dark forest regained its usual silence. I flew down and started devouring the giant beast, the amount of power this body holds is immense.
Looking at the Mama bird she seemed to be shocked at this turn of events.
I wish I could talk to her but I couldn't. I have already checked the shop before and I find out several techniques that would enable me to speak with monsters and other races.
Basically, I found two scrolls, one is called [Leria Universal Language] and the other one is [Voice Transmission].
Judging from the name of the first scroll I assume that this world is called Leria, by using that scroll I'd be able to learn the most widely used language. However, Voice Transmission is different, it enables one to directly speak into the mind of another creature regardless of a language barrier. It's like a translator of thoughts, pretty fucking wild if you ask me.
The Mama bird didn't stand on ceremony, after being stunned by this turn of events she immediately joined the feast.
Shit, I forgot about Kali. I flew back into the branch in which I left her. I checked on the two cubs and I found out they were still sleeping. The difference between our Spiritual attributes at this point is too huge, I just hope I didn't damage their soul in any way. I had to act quickly and decisively back then.
*Screech!!*
I grabbed Kali even though she seemed to be angry at me for constantly throwing her wherever I want.
I brought her above the body of the monster and dropped her from a height of 5 meters.
She was shocked, all she could do was flail around her wings with the still growing feathers.
*Thud*
Only for her to fall butt first into the face of the Mandrill, the moment she looked down, she was petrified.
*Screech*
Hahaha! She's very expressive that's why I like bullying her.
What followed after this was a feast. Well, in our point of view at least. For others, it's a gruesome scene of three monsters heartily devouring another ugly-looking monster.
I found it strange how easily I was able to adapt to eating monsters, when I used to look at corpses I would feel physically repulsed by them, now it's the opposite. There is no denying that biology plays a very big part in our existence and our psychology is affected by it.
For me, the moment I overcame the psychological challenge of eating monsters because they were gross, unappetizing, and unhealthy, I was able to directly get in tune with my new monster biology.
Monster meat, though still looks gross most of the time due to my deeply rooted standards of how food should look it's not that big of an obstacle when I desire it with every inch of my being.
I kept paying attention to the movement of the Mama bird, I don't want her to return to the nest first, otherwise, she might do something unthinkable to the two cubs.
After eating my fill, I came back carrying Kali to the nest.
Looking at the still sleeping cubs, I was at my wit's end, if you could call it that.
I have no idea what to do with these guys, they definitely can't survive on their own. But I also can't babysit, where is the animal shelter when you want one?
I wish there was a babysitting service I could call. I remembered seeing a very strange animal dynamic in my world between a female crocodile and a type of bird. They make their nest very close to each other, and the birds would babysit for the crocodile and protect their babies. While the crocs would also do the same thing and protect them from large predators. It was fascinating.
Our nest is very large so accommodating them wouldn't be an issue, but how would they react? I can't communicate with them, I can only scare them, for now at least, it seems like this is the best course of action to take.

Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source.
