《Endless River (Isekai LitRPG)》Chapter 19 - New Quest!

[+2 Intelligence]
After a long cultivation session, I gained some Intelligence Stats. This was the first time I increased my Int through cultivation, this is great!
Now, I just have to focus on my skill training more.
Needless to say, I've recovered all of my Mana. The forest is getting darker, a sign that night is approaching.
I left my hiding spot and started flying amid the branches.
I encountered several monsters along the way, but they are all weak.
-Ding!
[New Quest Available!]
A new quest? This is the second quest I've ever got, it seems like someone is in trouble, and my superhero senses are tingling.
I hurriedly opened my Quest Menu, to find a new addition.
``
New Quest: A Mother's Love.
Description: A young mother is on the verge of losing her two precious cubs, she's doing her best but she is surrounded. She's losing hope by the second and she's in despair. She's on the verge of death but it doesn't hurt as much as the thought of knowing that the moment she falls her cubs would follow.
Goal: Help the little family from the clutches of evil!
Rewards: 100 Karma Points, 10000 Experience Points, 6 Free Stats Points, and 2 Skill Points.
``
Reading the description of the quest, I was shocked. At first, I somehow thought it was a human but it says cubs, and she seems to be on the verge of death.
But, where is she?
Should I fly higher to get a better view?
*Roaarrr*
Just as I was a bit apprehensive about the fact that I'd fly higher and leave my precious darkness.
I heard an angry roar filled with unwillingness, and I promptly flew at my full speed in the direction of the sound.
It didn't take me a long while to see what was happening, they were very close to me, to begin with.
The moment I saw the situation below, I understood.
There was a female black tiger, with purplish stripes.
She was fighting against 1 Peak Dark Mandrill in close combat while suffering the long-range attacks of several Mid to high-level Mandrills.
Her right front leg was all mashed up and looked unsightly, thus reducing her movement.
Due to her inability to dodge, she was suffering from the full-blown attacks of several Mandrills who were hidden in the trees.
Behind her were two young cubs hidden behind a tree looking at her worriedly.
*Bang!*
Just as I arrived, a big rock landed on the Mama tiger's head, which made her stumble a bit. Taking advantage of her situation the Peak Mandrill raised both arms and brought them down with terrifying strength, aiming at her head.
*THUD*
The attack landed, and the tiger mom fell, unable to move she seemed to be on the verge of death, yet the long-range attacks never stopped.
Shit, this is too gruesome.
*Screeeech*
[Predator's WarCry]
All of this happened in a fraction of a second, and I reacted immediately.
*Thudd* *Thudd* *Thudd*
Three figures fell from the tree, while the other one happened to be caught in some branches and didn't fall. However, they are all momentarily knocked out.

This way only to prevent any more attacks, otherwise, the tigress would die without a doubt.
The Peak Mandrill was going in for the final fatal blow but thankfully was stunned by my Spiritual attack.
Taking advantage of this short opportunity, I launched two wind blades.
*Whoosh* *Whoosh*
Both of them landed on his back, leaving a scary open wound in which blood was gushing out.
I haven't stopped my charge, I was still flying in his direction with my sharp claws at full speed.
*Bang!*
I hit the monkey from the side, making it fall for several meters.
*Whoosh* *Whoosh*
I created two wind blades and made them follow him, not giving him the slightest chance to fight back or even think.
After I created the wind blades, I put all of my strength in my legs and jumped towards him with my wings giving me extra speed and I activated Sky Dash.
It's worth mentioning that all of my passives have their conditions met, this charge with Sky Dash is my absolute top speed reaching a staggering amount of 162 Agility!!
The moment my wind blades landed on the still rolling Peak Mandrill, my claws plus the full force in my length and the speed with which I was flying hammered against its head, and just as I felt the touch of his face beneath my claws, I clutched!
*Splatter*
*Crunch*
His head exploded like a watermelon, and I heard the sound of bones breaking.
[You have Killed a Body Refinement(Peak) Monster |Experience Points +6000|]
As I heard the notification and relaxed a bit, I landed beside him only to feel intense pain in both of my legs!
It turns out that what broke was my legs and not his bones. My speed was too fast, the force with which I collided against its head broke my legs.
*Argh*
Fuck, I miscalculated.
I opened my wings to fly above ground, my legs can't carry my full weight.
The tigress was still despairing, a vicious monster just died only for it to be replaced by an even more ruthless killer.
I went to the other four Mandrills and killed them, one by one. I didn't use any Mana, I needed to conserve my energy in case something unexpected happened.
[You have Killed a Body Refinement(Mid) Monster |Experience Points +2000|]
[You have Killed a Body Refinement(Mid) Monster |Experience Points +2000|]

[You have Killed a Body Refinement(High) Monster |Experience Points +2000|]
[Quest Achieved Successfully. Rewards: 100 Karma Points, 10000 Experience Points, 6 Stats Points, 2 Skill Points]
I leveled up again, I impatiently checked my Status Window to see the recent changes.
Experience Points(Exp): 19250/27000
Available Stat Points: 11
Available Skill Points: 6
Karma Points: 150
I've gained a total of 28.000 EXP from the quest reward, killing the Mandrills, and coupled with the Experience I had before I would be able to level up again quickly.

11 Stats Points, I directly put them all in Spirit to increase my ability to sense monsters from afar and increase the efficiency of my Spiritual attacks.
With the 2 skill points I've been saving up, I now have 6 Skill points! I'll save it, for now, I need a good place to think clearly.
*Roar...*
The cubs were planning to come and check on their mother, only for them to be scolded. She seems to be saying run, but they couldn't understand her or just can't bear to leave her.
They returned behind the tree shaking like a leaf.
Seeing them like this, I carried one of the High Mandrill bodies and dropped it close to the tigress.
Initially, I wanted to use Gentle Touch on her, but I don't have enough mana. This would do, for now, to put them at ease.
I returned to where the Peak monster was laying and started eating it by laying down on top of it while looking at them.
The tigress was scared at first when I first approached, but after seeing that I didn't attack her she became a bit relieved.
Still on guard, just not despairing as before.
We kept looking at each other like this, and I couldn't help but think how great monster encounters were, I'm just here enjoying my food without uttering a single word, minus the whole bloodshed and throat snapping of course.
This just goes to show how socially inept I am, I wonder what other people would be thinking about at that moment.
After seeing that the atmosphere has calmed a bit, the cubs ran to their mother, licking her wounds.
Yet, she didn't remove me from her sight.
Goddamn, how gorgeous those eyes are.
Just proud and marvelous, looking at her fur covered with those dark purple stripes I couldn't help but want to pet her. This is the first time that I've missed my human hands.
It was getting darker, but as creatures born in this forest, we're very accustomed to it. We even thrive in it, so it didn't bother us one bit.
I finished eating and seeing that I'd already recovered my mana, I made my way toward her.
She instantly became vigilant and roared angrily, with good reason of course. I'm sure that monsters in this forest are vicious to each other, things like help must be rare if everyone is afraid of everybody.
The cubs noticing my arrival bared their teeth at me.
*Grrrr*
How cute! It's also worth mentioning that these 'cubs' are bigger than the biggest tigers in my previous world. You can only tell their cubs from their facial features being wholly different from those of their mothers.
As I got close, lighting started to move around them. Not just the mother, all of them!
Shit, I completely forgot about skills.
I appraised her.
[Appraised Target: Thunder Cuvine Tiger

Description: Thunder Cuvine Tiger is a species of monster with extremely high potential in regards to lightning magic, they are not very common due to the difficulty of their low fertility. In mating seasons, they prefer to live in dark places instead of an environment suited for their cultivation.
]
Very strong! Maybe of the strongest monsters below Foundation Establishment that I've ever seen, I wonder how that monkey reduced her to this pitiful state.
Before appraising her, I thought of maybe going at full speed to give her Gentle touch because it requires physical touch, but now I'm a bit apprehensive.
Forget it, she's already safe. I'll wait for her to recover a bit then I'll leave, she's still vulnerable.
After seeing me stopping my advance and flying to a nearby branch, they relaxed a bit.
The three of them started eating the body I left for them, but they quickly finished it and they turned to look at the other three.
Kekeke, now you want my help, you are really a cat.
I left the high-ranked one for me and tossed the other 2 mid-ones for them.
Seeing them happily eating, I also started eating because why not? I still have room to grow physically and it'd help me gain new bloodline skills.
The two cubs seemed to regain their usual child-like curiosity and started to get close to me.
I thought of something, and I immediately tried it.
I created a small Umbra Hand in the space between the two cubs, and they immediately jumped at it, only for them to hit each other in the face.
I kept creating small Umbra Hands and they kept chasing them, just like a cat chasing a laser.
Just for a while of course, I can't lose my precious Mana for playtime.
Shit! Danger! Big Fucking Danger!
I have a +150% Stats Boost from {Blazing Heart}, plus a +50% Spirit Boost from {Truth Seeker}. I have a giant 171 Spirit in total, my detection range is not something the likes of the Mama tiger could compare to.
Something big and dangerous is approaching.
Looking at the still crippled Mama tiger, I sighed... If you'd let me heal you earlier you wouldn't have died so pointlessly. But it's not like she knew I was going to heal her, I was just done killing and eating a big monster when I approached her. It only makes sense that she was afraid.
I spent 3 skill points to raise my Predator's WarCry from Beginner to Advanced, thus increasing its range and power.
*Screeeeech!*
I immediately used it while focusing on the two cubs, the moment they fell I carried them with my claws and ran away at full speed.
*ROOOOOOOAARRR*
The Mama tiger was shocked and furious! It tried to chase after me, but her legs were still all messed up. Very soon, I was out of her sight!
*Roarrr...*
I heard a heartbreaking sound from behind me...

It seemed like an obvious prey soul, given it wasn't in the village's records. Only the strongest could be part of the village guard. He thought that would never get the chance to defend the village from the spike feeders, the deadly creatures jutting out with hazardous spikes haphazardly all over. Only predator beast souls were given the requisite training and allowed to join the village guard. Perry just didn't meet their criteria. He was also wrong.Soon Perry will live out his wildest dreams and more, as he scales the rankings of beast soul mastery, fights innumerable dangerous spike feeders and solves mysteries related to the origin of beast souls and spike feeders. And maybe, just maybe, he'll even get to join the city guard. Genre-wise, Mortal Mewling is a GameLit story (light on the GameLit) focused on action and adventure. The Gore tag is there more as a precaution, rather than a promise to keep producing gory words. Mortal Mewling is a bit of a slow burn in terms of start, scale and capacity of the protagonist. Book 2... has now begun! Updates Monday and Thursday
