《Rise of the Last Star - A LitRPG Adventure》The War of the Weak and the War of the Strong (9)

In his inner world, Liam’s soul closed its eyes. Its body had perished, while it had no energy left to regenerate. It didn’t know how it was still alive, but it realized that it would soon disappear. As his Inner World began to fade, the water disappearing and the sky shattering, a notification covered Liam’s soul’s view, even though its eyes were closed.
[Your Personal Attribute’s fourth petal has begun to bloom.]
Liam opened his eyes wide in shock. It was at that moment that infinite voices rose from the water under it.
[You have done well.]
[Recovery is a special statistic, one created by your Personal Attribute.]
[An immortal will not die so easily.]
[The fourth petal isn’t so weak.]
Listening to the words, he felt a mysterious force rise in his Inner World, one that he had never come in contact with before. It wasn’t a type of energy. It felt as if it were a matter of course, something that had always been.
‘A natural law?’
Just like the universal laws that ruled over physics and the natural workings of the infinite universe the Convergence took place in.
An immortal would not die so easily.
Liam’s consciousness left his Inner World, turning to reality. He could see the bear beastman yelling out orders with bloodied paws as the troops started to disperse. His consciousness condensed. Even though he had no energy left, even though he did not have even the slightest amount of Aura within his body…
Silently, his body reappeared. Liam raised his gaze, meeting the eyes of the beastman who had turned around in shock. He smiled as his spear flew into his grasp. Liam felt a presence appear behind him before his head was crushed with a sickening crunch. Nevertheless, his body still moved. He thrust his spear back, trying to hit the enemy that had destroyed his head, but his weapon hit nothing. Without Aura, he was too slow to hit any of the enemies.
His arms holding the spear were severed before his chest caved in. Still, he recovered. His body exploded and every cell was burned to ash. He regenerated. The weight of thousands of Elite Captains attacking at the same time crashed upon him, turning his body to nothingness. A heartbeat later, he was back as if nothing had happened. The enemies’ confused and shocked expressions were clear as day. Liam realized it.

‘There’s no longer anyone on this battlefield capable of killing me.’
There was nothing to fear. Even if the one billion troops attacked him at the same time, so what? He would regenerate after it was all over. The only way to kill him now would be to destroy his soul. His body was no longer a limiting factor in any way, and neither was the amount of energy he had.
It meant that he could focus completely on fighting without abandon. Liam smiled. In nothing but moments, the situation had completely changed. From the brink of death, he had become invincible. He looked at the bear beastman who eyed him from afar, warily.
“Come at me, you furry.”
The beastman swung his right paw. Liam’s body was torn apart, but it no longer meant anything. The bear beastman’s voice rang out.
“If he can’t be killed, then capture him. If it cannot be done, keep destroying his body. Even if he keeps regenerating, there must be a limit.”
Following his own advice, the beastman charged at him personally. From hundreds of kilometers away, the Captain kept attacking, destroying Liam’s body unceasingly. Liam could not even move, let alone fight back. However, since regenerating no longer spent his energy, he could focus on recovering his Aura as quickly as possible. As the minutes passed by and Liam’s body was destroyed countless times, his Aura surged around him after his body regenerated for the umpteenth time. The beastman hurriedly yelled out orders.
“Retreat! Elite Captains, charge!”
It was too late. Liam’s 10,000 points in Aura showed their value. Even the small fraction he had managed to recover had brought him back to Elite Captain-class. He flew to the side, not bothering with any defensive maneuvers or techniques. Focusing on attack alone, he butchered the nearest hundred ordinary soldiers.
‘All into Strength.’
[Ding!]
The next second, his body was ripped apart by the attacks of the Elite Captains. It regenerated immediately. Liam rotated his body, firing Crescent Moon Waves everywhere around him. With his Aura stat backing them up, the Waves weren’t easily stopped like before and cut through the troops by the hundreds.

Like mindless beasts, the enemies continued to attack him and destroy his body as their companions kept being killed. With every kill, Liam grew stronger. He understood why the enemies hadn’t given up yet; they were looking for a limit that didn’t exist. A grin made its way to his face. If the situation was like this, then he should take advantage of it as much as possible.
After putting his points into Strength, his speed increased even further. He flew through the air, stepping it as if it were solid ground for sudden bursts of speed. The Elite Captains’ attacks kept missing him narrowly.
Mach 200. That was Liam’s current speed limit, which was still growing. It was far above the Elite Captains’, who all moved at speeds of around Mach 60 to Mach 70.
Even though his killing speed continued to increase, it took Liam almost twenty more minutes to max out all of his stats. He suddenly stopped fighting, settling for merely floating in the air and surveying the battlefield. Surprisingly, no more attacks came his way. The enemies gazed at him from afar, not retreating, but not advancing either. They had finally truly understood their situation. Despite being naked and having a body that had been destroyed and shattered countless times, the man in front of them was no longer an existence they could threaten. Killing him was no longer an option. It could be described as impossible for them.
Liam took a deep breath, inhaling Zancorix’s toxic air without care as he looked towards the sky. The purple and dark green colors continued to push against each other unceasingly, but Liam managed to see beyond them. He managed to see the two figures fighting thousands of kilometers above the clouds. After observing them for a while, Liam came to a single conclusion.
‘I’m still not strong enough.’
From a single glance, Liam managed to tell that the two Commanders had stats superior to 100,000. Even though they likely had inferior Passive Skill bonuses since Liam had Ethereal Body, he was still not their opponent. Liam turned his gaze to Cinzolia’s troops, which had stayed frozen while he pondered. They flinched. Then, he muttered to himself with a voice that chilled them to their bones.
“Time to level up, then.”
A full second passed. Liam’s figure disappeared as Cinzolia Fortress’ soldiers screamed with desperation.
The battle resumed.
…
One hour.
That was how long it took Liam to level up from level 20 to level 29. Standing on top of a mountain of corpses, he looked at the eyes of the enemies. Finally considering that he had butchered thousands mindlessly, Liam felt his desire to retreat.
“It’s time to go.”
He needed to level up to level 30 and undergo the third Revolution. It wasn’t the kind of thing that could be done in the middle of a battlefield. Liam looked around at what he had done.
Cinzolia’s previously pristine walls and floor were cracked, with large, kilometers-long gashes and chasms. In the center of the Fortress, a large abyss had been created as a consequence of Liam’s continuous usage of Singularity. Corpses were piled up on veritable mountains, while the blood he hadn’t incinerated flowed in rivers. The enemies had completely lost their desire to fight. Many of them had lost their fighting spirit after witnessing his growing power, retreating and leaving the fortress.
During this one battle, Cinzolia’s 1.5 billion troops became 1.2 billion. Of course, Liam hadn’t killed even 1% of those. They had simply run away. He hadn’t bothered to give chase.
‘They’ve probably got a ship somewhere on the planet.’
Slowly, Liam turned around and flew away, in the direction of the Drakkhan army.
He could tell based on the looks on their faces.
Today, he had created a legend.
He looked at the System notification in front of him.
[Your Personal Attribute’s fourth petal continues to bloom.]
