CHAPTER 155. Monster Waves (Part-4)
That improvised plan was to have the rest of the Earth's Alpha Chosen attack the monsters.
Of course, it wasn't a frontal confrontation but launching sneak attacks.
Since the rest of the team shared Jay's senses, they perceived the live location of each monster within the 'Thunder Miasma Field'.
Instead of each attacking a different monster, they all focussed on attacking a single monster at a time.
One after another, they launched projectile attacks from different directions while sneaking off from a safe distance.
After each attack, they would simultaneously change their previous spots to avoid the targeted monster's attacks of retaliation.
Meanwhile, Jay supported them from far away by creating brief passages for each attack of his team members.
That way, their projectile attacks wouldn't directly contact the Thunder Miasma, which could deteriorate their lethality.
On top of that, he continued the concentrated use of the grey thunderbolts on the singled-out monsters.
Next to Jay, Dante and Olivia, Min-soo and Andrea's role was quite vital to their survival as a team. There were several instances where the Earth's ALpha Chosen couldn't escape the range of the monsters' attacks and nearly died.
But it was Min-soo who used Reverse-teleportation to save them before their emulated health bars could empty out.
Compared to when he first met Jay, Min-soo could be said to have significantly improved his understanding of the Space Element along with his Spirit Energy reserves, which in turn increased the number of times he could use Reverse-teleportation.
Every time he did that, he sent them to Andrea, who healed them back to full health using her Light Element.
Half the team would have died on the barren battlefield if not for them both.
The Earth's Alpha Chosen repeated the same process with the remaining monsters; one after another, more than three-fourths of the Tier-4 Low-Phase monsters were wiped out.

At their rate of progress, it seemed as if all the remaining monsters could be cleared within the 10-minute duration.
However, in the last 2 minutes, some of the Earth's Alpha Chosen exhausted their Spirit Energy reserves and couldn't attack anymore.
That brought down their team's overall firepower by a notch. To make up for that, Jay expended even more Spirit Energy and increased the number of grey thunderbolts within Thunder Miasma Field.
As seconds trickled by, the burden on Jay grew heavier. It wasn't long before he was the only one who continued to deal damage to the monsters.
Maintaining such high attack power had brought an excessive mental toll on Jay's mind, but he pressed on with it.
25 seconds left.....8 monsters alive
18 seconds left.....7 monsters alive
11 seconds left.....6 monsters alive
4 seconds left.....5 monsters alive
At that point, it became clear to Jay that if he didn't bring out his hidden cards, they couldn't clear the 10th Monster Wave.
So, Jay decided to use the incomplete skill that he accidentally came up back when he tried combining all grey-thunderbolts within to enhance their attack power.
Although it exceeded his expectations in terms of the damage output, the Spirit Energy consumption was way more drastic than anything he had seen before.
Despite not using it even once, Jay was pretty confident its attack power to be the highest among the skills in his possession, second only to the mysterious unknown grade skill, .
With four seconds left before the 10-minute duration's end, Jay didn't hesitate and activated the incomplete skill, .
Every grey thunderbolt within the large area of 'Thunder Miasma Field' amassed a few meters above Jay's position.
Jay then used his both palms and made a compressing gesture as thousands of those palm-sized thunderbolts fused into one enormous dark grey thunderbolt, about the size of an average fighter jet.

While doing this, he opened up paths between the remaining three monsters and gathered them in one place before bombarding them with the massive thunderbolt.
The attack power was so immense that it killed off four Lv.66 Monsters in an instant.
Nevertheless, that didn't bring any joy to Jay since the last monster managed to survive the attack by flying up at a critical juncture.
There was just a second left, and a little over 5% of the aerial-type monster's health bar remained.
Despite hardly engaging in any physical activity, Jay was exhausted to the point he found it hard to stay awake.
His Spirit Energy reserves were emptied out from using 'Mega-Bolt', drowning his consciousness in lethargy.
However, he didn't waste that last second. At that point, he could have used one of Centauri Kavach's inbuilt skills, to refill his Spirit Energy reserve to the brim, but he chose to save it for the next Monster Wave.
Instead, he went for an economical approach by activating the most potent Uncommon grade skill in his arsenal, a skill that solely expends Stamina, .
_________
(Uncommon Grade): To activate this skill, the user needs to choose a lifeform as a target to unleash their inner frenziness. Within that frenzied state, the user's 5 main Attributes will receive a 20% increment in Stats.
Duration upper limit: 3 minutes.
Cost: 20% Stamina
_________
As soon as Jay activated it, his muscles bulged visibly, and the white in his eyes was changed to a darker red shade.
He simultaneously activated and neutralised the frenzied state.
With less than half a second at hand, he leapt towards the flying monster at his fastest speed and pulled out the from the Limiter Ring's storage space in mid-air.
If it were a real monster, it would have in the least tried to escape from sensing the danger but being the emulated monster it was, the Aerial-type monster flew straight towards Jay.
He didn't miss the opportunity and exerted every last bit of his strength before shooting the 'Origin Glaive Replica' at the incoming monster like a javelin.
The Earth's Alpha Chosen held their breaths at that sight. The last few seconds felt like an eternity for them.
Especially, the attack that Jay used to take out four Tier-4 Low-Phase monsters at once had marvelled them.
But still, a monster survived that. They were all reluctant to fail after coming so close to clearing the 10th Monster Wave.
They hoped with all their hearts for Jay's last attack to land on the monster in the nick of time. To their euphoria, a bunch of congratulatory notifications appeared in front of them when the 10-minute duration was just a few milliseconds shy of coming to an end.
[Congratulations! Your team has successfully cleared the 10th Monster Wave.]
[Due to clearing the 10th Monster Wave and creating a new record, a 250% bonus Score was added to your Round-2 Team Evaluation.]

Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. 'Hulls of battle-steel and men to match!' That's what the Navy's recruitment poster's claim at least. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. Dockyard workers shake their heads at the ships, muttering that they are cursed from birth, even as construction drags on. In 8230 the Explorer, first of her class, is launched. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. The Night Horse, sitting in reserve, is missed due to bureaucratic oversight. In 8250 Lord Ayland Wynstryngham the Eighth assumes the office of Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely. What poor or desperate fool would willingly sign on to crew, much less command, a cursed ship and spend months or years in deep space? Well, you would, of course. Where else is a kid from the gutters going to find that kind of freedom in the service of His Majesty? A [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] 2021. Purple Scales - A Reincarnation Story
Ssssssss...... A simple story of a man brought into a world of fantasy, magic, and systems by a crude God as some sort of a deal we may never know. Although.... he's a snake. Your typical honest-to-goodness brightly coloured danger noodle with venoms and all. To be precise, a magical snake with lots of growth potential. Follow the story of Randy, a pushover whose commands by God only being "survive, and grow big", on a journey to... well... survive and grow big, as he discovers what the world truly has to offer. Which is not much. Hopefully, not too much. A typical reincarnation story, really, but it might just satisfy your thirst for these kinds of stories. I'm just an amateur writer hobby-writing on my spare time, mostly for private consumption. This is also a practice on me developing gamelike-systems in literature. Will contain lots of swearing Any criticisms and feedback regarding storyline, language, and thematics are welcome. As this is a spare-time hobby, updates are not, will not, and will never be predictable. I will try my best, but don't get your hopes up. Inspired by a few other works on this site.
