《New Paris [a Modern-day LitRPG]》[Bonus Episode] - Author's Note - Volume 2 announcement

Heya 😊

Thank you all for sticking around during this in-between volumes break. Starting this upcoming Monday, I’ll be seeing you almost every day with new chapters of the second volume of New Paris. There will be a few changes coming to this story, and a few points that I wish to discuss.

First, I will be opening a Patreon where you’ll be able to read advance chapters. Check it out at the link below. Currently I’m only able to offer 3 and 5 advance chapters, but those numbers might (and probably will) go up as I build more of a backlog. Since Patreon does not allow for tables, the formatting of the chapters will be a bit different there, with a mixture of [ ] and screenshots of larger tables.

Second, I am looking for alpha readers for the first volume. I have tried turning towards reddit and other forums for help, and have ultimately decided to follow the advice that a fellow writer gave me, and ask my readers for help. I need feedback on any developmental stuff, like pacing, plot, character motivation, etc. In exchange, I can offer you a special mention in my next volume, a physical copy of the book when/if it comes out, and a self-insert/cameo character. Send me a DM if you’re interested.

As far as typos and the like go, I will no longer be editing volume 1, as I intend to rewrite parts of it. Volume 2 should have less of those since I am systematically putting it through Grammarly before uploading, in addition to regular proof-reading. But, as you know, those kinds of software’s are not 100% reliable, and I do still have dyslexia (unfortunaly), so I apologise in advance for any typos in the second volume. I will be doing my best to get rid of those ASAP.

Speaking of this upcoming volume, there will be a few changes compared to the previous one. First, unless something big happens irl, I do intend to stick to a regular upload schedule. Chapters will be released four times a week, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I’m doing this for two reasons: first, I have found that this kind of break/daily system increases visibility, and second, I want to avoid a burn-out. However, if everything goes smoothly, I might do releases on every working day after the mid-season break.

On that note, if anyone’s interested in the more technical side of writing, here are a few things I want to share; this upcoming volume will be roughly twice as long as the previous one, based on the length of my outline. Chapters will also be longer on average, since I have gotten into the habit of making them ~1.5k. This means that there will hopefully be fewer two-parters. I also want to change the design of my tables, to make them more legible. So, if you haven’t done it already, please go vote on your preferred design changes on the previous author’s note.

And last but not least, as of now there are 5 volumes in total planned for this series. I can’t promise a timeline just yet, but I am hoping to release another volume during the winter Writathon. But that will depend on many factors, including the intensity of my uni courses.

That’s all for now, stay tuned for a character and story recap.

And thanks for sticking around with me during this break :)

Cheers,

Eve.
