《Dungeon from the Void》B3 | Chapter 22 - Double-edged Sword

Leon
"Have you ever seen a monster like this?" Kat asks in the silence of the room.
I shake my head before turning to look at the room.
I was too distracted by the new monsters to notice, but the room is pretty small.
It only has a single slate in the center of the room with words inscribed upon it.
A puzzle perhaps?
"I have never seen a creature like this one before," Pallus says with confusion.
Charles turns to Pallus and asks, "Do you think it's a new creature created by the dungeon?"
I also turn to Pallus with curiosity written on my face.
A new creature?
It's not very often that a dungeon will create an entirely new creature.
Pallus looks down for a second as he scratches his chin.
"I'm not sure, but it's possible."
Really?
Everyone turns silent as we all consider the ramifications this could have on Wolfdenn.
If this dungeon is intelligent enough to create an entirely new creature, then it might be even more valuable than we all originally thought.
I'm not really sure how to feel about this...
"We should report this to the Guild," Kat says with a grim look on her face.
I nod my head in agreement, "Yeah."
The dungeon's high intelligence is a double-edged sword for us.
Not only does it mean that we might be able to talk with it in the future, making deals and the like, but it also means that the dungeon itself should remain stable and balanced.
These are both beneficial towards Wolfdenn.
The problem, however, is that it might draw unwanted attention from other powers who wish to have this dungeon under their jurisdiction.
"We should just finish this room and-" Pallus begins before being interrupted.

"No! We barely get to come in here, so we should at least be able to reach the level cap for this floor!" Rose shouts in obvious distress.
We all turn to her in surprise at her outburst.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen her so distressed!

Everyone turns to me in expectation after a brief moment of surprise.
I glance at the slate for a moment before saying, "She's right. We have only gotten ten EXP from this floor so far, so it would be a waste to leave now."
I walk up to the slate without another word.
Pass through the door with the correct answer for the question below.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
How many different types of monsters have there been throughout the dungeon?
Different types of monsters?
Let's see...
There is the normal wolf and goblin. The small and large wolves, and the hobs.
"There should be a total of eleven different types of monsters in the dungeon," I hear Kat say as she walks up to the slate next to me with the others.
Huh? That was fast!
I almost forgot how good her memory was.
It might be best to just leave these types of puzzles to her from now on.
I turn to the doors and find the number eleven above the door on the right.
"Nice work," I compliment Kat before walking to the door.
Kat smiles as she follows me to the door, with the others following soon after.
Fenrir
I watch the intruders as they continue on through the fifth level of the tower.

"What's with their reaction?" I ask Dawn.
Dawn shifts her attention to me from the intruders as she asks, "What do you mean?"
"Why would they be in such a rush to report to the guild?" I clarify as the intruders answer another puzzle correctly.
"Oh," Dawn says as she shifts her attention back to the intruders, "It's because the outside races value dungeons based off of their intelligence. The more intelligent the dungeon is, the more valuable they are to them."
Really?
That's interesting.
So, their reaction was because I am intelligent enough to create a new creature?
"I wonder if it will pull in more intruders..." I mutter while watching the intruders continue through the rooms of the fifth level.
Then again, it won't matter right now anyways.
From what I can piece together from the intruder's conversations, it looks like there are more people outside who want to come into my dungeon than there is time for them to be able to.

It doesn't look like I will be getting instancing for a while either...
That's unfortunate, but at least Dawn will be able to possess monsters when I reach CL 5.
Although, I feel as if I am forgetting something.
I spend a few minutes trying to figure it out before giving up and just asking Dawn, "Hey, Dawn, was there something else that I get when I reach CL 5? Aside from you being able to possess monsters of course."
Dawn turns to me in surprise as she says, "Yeah, there is. Did you forget about the starter environment system already?"
"Starter environment system..." I mutter before remembering.
"Oh yeah! Now that should come in handy!"
How did I forget about that?
The starter environment system will be extremely useful in the next set of floors.
I can't wait to make an environment that isn't just a cave!
"Which environment will you use first?" Dawn asks out of curiosity.
Which one?
"That's a good question," I mutter as the intruders finish clearing the fifth level of the tower.
Do I even know which environments I will be able to use?
Now that I think about it, I don't know how the environment system will even work!
Dawn giggles before saying, "It's fine. You don't have to decide right now. Just wait until you actually get the system before you start worrying about it."
I stare at Dawn for a second before saying, "You have a point."
I can decide on that later.
For now, I should just cultivate so that I can get to CL 5.

About the Author This is my first novel or any attempt to write something so I'm pretty much a newbie trying to pen down the fantasies rolling in my mind. English isn't my First language so brace yourself for some grammatic potholes. But I'm genuinely working on improving my English but it won't be happening overnight as it's a process, I guess. (for the time being, I'm trying to make it readable with some Grammar checking software) Moreover, I wish to improve my writing skills as the story grows and readers help in spotting mistakes or critics might turn it into a reality.
