Siora grimaced, knowing that she likely wouldn’t survive if her plan didn’t work, but not having any better options. “Mel, I hope you’re close enough to this guy, otherwise this is going to be painful!” Darting forward, she placed one hand against the werewolf’s thigh. For a moment, she held her breath, and then her eyes went wide as the werewolf leered at her.

“Poor little wolf boy. Can’t handle one girl, so he has to go find easier targets. Some hunter you are. Perhaps you are better suited to a god of agriculture, instead? At least then you wouldn’t be an embarrassment to wolves everywhere.”
Taunting the wolf gave away my position, but we were standing in water. The wolf would be able to tell where I was, regardless. Shooting a blast that ricocheted from his wife, to him, to the tyrannosaurus also gave him a good idea of where I was. So, when I talked as I flew towards his wife, I hoped to give him something else to think about, other than Siora or Frostmane. Of course, I didn’t land by his wife, but past her, to make my location a bit more unknown.
Frostmane’s Attack (ST): 1d20+16 = 31 (Hit)
Power Attack (5) Bite Damage: 1d8+22 = 30 (Piercing)
Freezing Bite: 1d6 = 6 (Cold) (Cold Resistance 10)
Slowly, Frostmane was getting the better of his foe. The fiendish tyrannosaurus was able to take a lot of damage, but it was getting worn down by Frostmane’s relentless attacks, even as they tussled. The only worry was what would happen when Frostmane finished his current chew toy.

As the dinosaur flailed about impotently, and the spiritual weapon smacked Siora hard upon the shoulder, the priestess moved forward, joining her mate in the middle of the center pool. With a foul curse, she unleashed a spell of dark energy upon Siora and Frostmane, wounding them. “This temple, and all these lands, belong to the Beastlord! None shall interfere with his coming!”

The Huntlord grinned viciously at Siora, and two strokes of his blade cut her down. There was no question of whether she was still alive or not. People generally can’t be alive when their head is split in two, down to the neck.
Kicking the corpse off his blade, he then turned to Frostmane. One slash of his blade, followed by a snapping of his jaws, added further wounds to the insane wolf. And there was nothing I could do to stop it.
Vestele’s CL Check: 1d20+12 = 28 (Fail)
“NO!” Vestele screamed at the death of her sister. Her face twisted in rage, no longer thinking, just acting. “YOU BASTARD!” As she cursed, she threw out a spell towards the Huntlord, but his resistance to magic snuffed it out before it could even start to affect him.

I bit back the curse I wanted to unleash. I couldn’t let myself get drawn into the Huntlord’s game. He was trying to draw me out, make me make a mistake. I didn’t have much longer on the invisibility spell Siora gave me. I had to make every second count.
I chained another blast, striking the Huntlord, before chaining to his wife and the tyrannosaurus once again. They were hurting, and the dinosaur looked nearly dead, but I couldn’t celebrate. I moved, so that they couldn’t get a bead on me. I had to take down the Huntlord, no matter what.

In a frenzy, Frostmane ripped the tyrannosaur’s throat out, sending it back to the plane it came from. The next instant, he was on his feet again, dodging a blow from the Huntlord as he did so. As the clang of steel meeting stone rang out in the temple, Frostmane’s jaws found the Huntlord’s thigh, and with a vicious jerk, threw him to the ground.

The Priestess snarled. “I grow tired of this! Just join your friend and die!” She waved a hand at Vestele, hitting her with an evil-looking spell, and causing the priestess to stagger back for a moment. The next instant the spiritual weapon that had been attacking Siora appeared above her sister, and struck her with its spectral claws.

Frostmane snapped at the Huntlord as he stood, but, though he scored another hit, he could not bring him to the ground a second time. He paid for that bite, though, with a pair of slashes that rent his hide and armor like they were paper. The white wolf was only saved by a mistake on the Huntlord’s part, his blade striking the ground with enough force to make him drop it.
Vestele’s CL Check: 1d20+12 = 29 (Fail)
Vestele cursed again, and threw another spell at the pair of werewolves. Once again, the spell splashed harmlessly off their hides. But the enraged priestess didn’t even seem to notice, or care.

I sensed that we were close to finishing this. If we could end this with only a single death, that would be a miracle. We had a pair of scrolls to raise the dead, but I did not want to rely on them too heavily. It was bad enough that we had to use one.
But I didn’t have anything else that I could do, except attack. I unleashed another blast, hitting the Huntlord square in his back, and bouncing it to the priestess. The acid burned, I could see that, but I could see that they wouldn’t run. Just like we couldn’t run. It was all or nothing.

Frostmane, in his madness, leapt at Arden, a ball of frenzied fur and teeth. Arden collapsed to the ground under the white wolf’s assault with a roar of disbelief. “No, this canno—” His words were cut off by Frostmane’s fangs ripping out his throat, ending the Huntlord’s ambitions, permanently.

Now it was the priestess’s turn to scream out in rage. “YOU’LL PAY FOR THAT, MUTT! YOUR HIDE WILL DECORATE MY MANTLE!” She lashed out with her whip, twice catching Frostmane across the face. The crazed wolf howled in pain, and then collapsed into a heap on the ground, motionless.
Vestele, meanwhile, fared no better. All her focus was on the werewolves, and she was madly cackling in glee at the site of the Huntlord’s broken body. She barely noticed when the spiritual weapon slashed her three times, sending her down in a heap.
