Huntress 5’s AoO (Melinda): 1d20+8 = 19 (Miss)
Melinda’s Attack Roll (Krynixia): 1d20+12 = 32 (Touch) (Crit Threat)
Confirm Crit: 1d20+12 = 22 (Touch) (Crit)
Melinda’s CL check: 1d20+9 = 24 (Success)
Krynixia’s Contingent Spell (Aid): 1d8+10 = 17 (Temp HP)
Eldritch Chain: 12d6 = 42 (Magic)
Melinda’s Attack roll (Huntress 1): 1d20+16 = 18 (Touch) (Hit)
Eldritch Chain: 21 (Magic)
Knowing I did not have much time to prevent the succubus from doing something even nastier than charming Frostmane, I took a breath, dodged the clumsy blow of the Huntress who was trying to disrupt my blast, and fired. I was a little surprised when I felt the magic surge just as I unleashed it, making the bolt larger, but not so shocked as I was when I saw the light of a second spell activate the moment it hit the demoness. The bitch was looking beat to hell, but somehow, the spell that had gone off saved her! Damn it!
Krynixia’s Concentration check: 1d20+24 = 42 (Success)
“ENOUGH!” The Succubus roared, “I tire of these games! Take your insignificant ‘victory’, mortals. I have already accomplished all I needed from these fools. But know that you are forever marked as a foe of Krynixia!” And with that, there was a flash of light, and she was gone, teleported away.
Charmed Huntress 1’s attack (Huntress 3): 1d20+13 = 28 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+3 = 11 (Bludgeoning) (Dead)
Charmed Huntress 1’s attack (Huntress 4) = 1d20+6 = 8 (Miss)
Charmed Huntress 2’s attack (Huntress 4): 1d20+11 = 31 (Crit threat)
Confirm Crit: 1d20+11 = 17 (Normal Hit)
Damage: 1d8+4 = 6 (Bludgeoning)
Charmed Huntress 2’s attack (Huntress 4): 1d20+6 = 24 (Hit)
1d8+4 = 8 (Bludgeoning)
With the succubus gone, all eyes turned towards the remaining combatants. The first of the charmed Huntresses brought down their sister, and, as one, the two turned their attention on the next nearest target, laying into the huntress with their morningstars. The battle was quickly becoming a rout.
Huntress 1’s Will Save: 1d20+9 = 20 (Success)
Huntress 2’s Attack (Huntress 1): 1d20+13 = 26 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+4 = 6 (Bludgeoning)
Huntress 2’s Attack (Huntress 1): 1d20+8 = 21 (Miss)
Huntress 4’s attack (Siora): 1d20+8 = 19 (Miss)
Huntress 4’s attack (Siora): 1d20+3 = 20 (Miss)
Huntress 5’s attack (Melinda): 1d20+8 = 14 (Miss)
Huntress 5’s attack (Melinda): 1d20+3 = 20 (Miss)
The wolfkin in front of me forced its way free of Vestele’s spell, looking none too pleased to have been trapped, even momentarily. The charmed huntress attacked it from behind, doing a fair bit of damage, since it looked like the huntress was barely standing. I barely even noticed as the other huntresses attempted to attack Siora and me. Their clumsy blows were too slow to catch us.
Huntress 4’s Will Save (Whelm): 1d20+8 = 12 (Fail)
Damage: 4d6 = 13 (Nonlethal)
Siora took a breath, and stepped back from the melee. With deft movements, she launched a spell at the huntress, causing her to stagger for a moment. “All right, with the demon gone, we should hurry up and finish this off.”
FDW’s attack (Huntress 5): 1d20+13 = 29 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+11 = 18 (Piercing)
FDW’s Trip attempt: 1d20+11 = 21
Huntress 5’s STR check: 1d20+2 = 8 (Fail, Prone)
Not to be outdone, the dire wolf bounded up to two Huntresses attacking me. Fang met flesh, and the Huntress screamed in pain as the wolf bit down upon her thigh. A wrench of the wolf’s head, and she was sprawling on the ground.

Vestele’s attack (Huntress 5): 1d20+11 = 21 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+2 = 10 (Bludgeoning)
Vestele said nothing as she stalked forward, morningstar in hand. Her target was the huntress that was sprawled upon the floor, unable to properly defend herself. The head of the morningstar came crashing down, smashing the Huntress’s knee as she cried out in pain.

Melinda’s attack (Huntress 5): 1d20+12 = 23 (Touch) (Hit)
Eldritch Chain damage: 6d6 = 18 (Magic)
Melinda’s attack (Huntress 1): 1d20+12 = 17 (Touch) (Hit)
Eldritch Chain damage: 9 (Magic) (Dead)
I stepped back, out of the reach of the huntress’s weapons, and pointed at the huntress on the ground. A bolt of violet leapt from my fingertip, striking the woman in the head, before chaining to the one that was still standing, sending her falling to the ground, dead.
Charmed Huntress 1’s attack (Huntress 4): 1d20+11 = 16 (Miss)
Charmed Huntress 1’s attack (Huntress 4) = 1d20+6 = 16 (Miss)
Charmed Huntress 2’s attack (Huntress 4): 1d20+11 = 22 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+4 = 12 (Bludgeoning)
Charmed Huntress 2’s attack (Huntress 4): 1d20+6 = 22 (Hit)
1d8+4 = 9 (Bludgeoning) (Unconscious)
The remaining huntresses knew they were in a bad way, but they did not give up so easily. One of the survivors blocked and parried two blows from her charmed sister’s morningstar, unwilling to simply let them kill her. But it was all for naught as the second one brought her morningstar across in two quick blows, sending the huntress to the ground, knocked out from the impact.
Huntress 2’s Attack (Huntress 5): 1d20+13 = 17 (Miss)
FDW’s AoO (Huntress 5): 1d20+15 = 26 (Hit)
Damage: 1d8+11 = 14 (Dead)
The charmed huntress advanced on the only remaining threat, but the prone huntress managed to get her shield into position to block the blow. Unfortunately for her, when she tried to stand, she ran straight into the dire wolf’s jaws. It did not end well for her. The next moment, Siora walked up and stabbed the sleeping Huntress through the eye with her rapier, ending the fight.

My eyes widened as I looked over what I gained. The ability to turn myself invisible at will would be very useful indeed. And becoming even just a bit more difficult to hit was always a bonus. I might even be harder to hit than Frostmane, now.

Oh, right. Frostmane was still under the succubus’s charm. I doubted he’d be all that happy to see us when he woke up, if that was still the case. “Siora, Vestele, can you break the enchantment on Frostmane? I would like for him to not be trying to kill us when he wakes up.”
Vestele frowned. “A succubus’s natural spells would be well developed. It may require casting the spell a couple times to get the desired effect, and I have not prepared that spell today.”
Siora nodded. “I can do it. But the other spells and magic items he has on him might get dispelled before we’re able to touch the charm spell. Still, all we can do is try.”
I nodded. “Right. In that case, I’ll stand in front of him, concentrating on the defense. That’ll draw his attention, since his last orders from the succubus were to attack me. You two dispel him.”
With that said, I stood next to Frostmane, and went on the defensive, focusing entirely on not letting him get his fangs on me. The twins split to either side and behind me, so that Frostmane would have to go through me to get to them.
Siora’s Dispel check: 1d20+8 = 16 (Partial)
Siora launched her spell, but all that I saw was the golden glow fading from Frostmane’s aura. Then the wolf yawned, his eyes opening. And they were staring at me.

Frostmane’s Attack: 1d20+17 = 23 (Miss)
I stood ready to receive an attack, and Frostmane did not disappoint. Jumping to his feet, the white wolf snarled, and tried to clamp his jaws down around my torso. But I was able to dance out of the way, thankfully enough.
Siora’s Dispel check: 1d20+8 = 20 (Fail)
Siora cursed as she sent another spell at Frostmane. “Damn it. The succubus was definitely a more powerful caster than I am.”
Frostmane’s Will Save (Suggestion): 1d20+9 = 22 (Success)
Vestele smiled at the wolf. “Come on, Frostmane, why don’t you just lie down and let us give you some ear scritches? Doesn’t that sound like fun?” The winter wolf merely growled back at her. “Damn, it isn’t working!”
Frostmane’s Attack: 1d20+17 = 18 (Miss)
Once again, I prepared for the attack, and once again, Frostmane snapped at me. This time, I was able to guide his head down as he attempted to grab my leg, and he lost his balance, hitting his nose on the stone floor. “Keep it up, I think you’re distracting him, at least!”
Siora’s Dispel check: 1d20+8 = 25 (Success)
Your party was successful in freeing your comrade from mental control.
Melaneth gains 1125 XP.
Frostmane gains 825 XP.
Siora gains 825 XP.
Vestele gains 825 XP.
I took a deep breath as the malice left Frostmane’s eyes. “Good to have you back, buddy. I wasn’t looking forward to the idea of fighting you for real.”
The wolf chuffed, and rubbed his head against my face. “Me either, little bird. Maybe next time we’re in town, we go and look for something that might keep that from happening again, yes?”
I couldn’t help from laughing. “Sure thing, you floofy goof. First thing when we get back to Northport.”
Vestele approached. “Speaking of, we should decide what to do with our charmed creatures. I honestly thought more of them would end up dying in this fight. Now that they’re all still alive, we have a problem. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not fight them again.”
Siora grinned. “Well, we could always send them somewhere far from here. That way, when the spell wears off in a few days, they’ll still have to travel a ways before they can come back and try to find us.”
I grinned at the Beguiler, and said, “Oh, we don’t even need to send them somewhere far away.” When she looked at me questioningly, I simply winked. “Watch.”
Melinda’s Bluff check: 1d20+27 = 42
Fiendish Dire Wolf’s Sense Motive check: 1d20+1 = 9
Huntresses Sense Motive check: 1d20+4 = 14
Walking over to where the charmed dire wolf and Huntresses were standing, I smiled, friendly enough, and said, “Ah, my friends. We’ve just met, and already the time has come to part. Our business here is done, and others will soon come who will slay anyone who remains here. Being such good friends, I would hate for that fate to befall you all.”
I held up a hand to hold off comments, and said, “But there is something you could do, that would help us greatly, while we go about our next task. There are ruins to the south. Ancient ruins, inhabited by all manner of creatures that would seek to undo the work you and yours have been doing.”
Melinda’s Diplomacy check: 1d20+17 = 25
I smiled at the puzzled looks they gave me, and said, “It would be a great help if you would all go to the ruins, and clear them out. That is the best help you can do for us, for everyone. Will you do it? Will you help us?”
One of the Huntresses stepped forward, and placed her hand upon her chest. “Of course, winged one. My sisters and I will gladly go and do this for you. Rest assured that your task will not be hindered by whatever is hiding in the ruins.”
I smiled at her, and clapped her on the shoulder. “I never doubted it. Now, no more words. Be quick, and may the gods give to you all that you deserve.”
Soon, the Malarites were gone, no doubt heading off to the ruins. I didn’t know what was lurking there, but I doubted that they would come out unscathed from facing it. Honestly, I had probably just sent them all to a horrible death, and I was perfectly fine with that. Turning back to the rest of the group, I simply shrugged when I saw them staring at me. “They were already friendly, thanks to the magic. They just needed a bit of a push. Now, can we get this celestial free from the floor?”
