《Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)》Chapter 38: Silverbark Wolves

Up in the dark corners of the ceiling, hundreds of leathery-winged bats were wiggling about restlessly.
Nikola guessed they were up there so they could flutter down to distract and disorient the people trying to cross the chasm, lowering their chances of getting across successfully - but she wondered if she could target the flyers with her [Crunch] ability. They were numerous enough that if she were able to get them down juuuuust a little further, she could [Crunching Cleave] between them to reach anywhere in the room.
"Yeah," Luke bumbled in response to her question about her level of mercy, "what we need right now is a manic killing machine."
People in robes were beginning to draw out their elaborate sigils, and the bright-haired angular one was drawing back a bolt. The sight of so many hands drifting to weapon and prepping spells all at once had him reeling.
"Shoot the ceiling, Phoenix," Nikola commanded, and he loosed the arrow he had loaded miscellaneously upwards without question.
It made a twanging noise at it found purchase in one of the corners shrouded in blackness.
"Nice shot," chided someone close to the entrance.
"You're going to want to shoot us, not the ceiling," chuckled another.
A swarm of bats so thick they darkened the sky came flapping down in an instant, screeching and filling the room in cartoonish numbers.
"Oh, fuck," swore one of the mages as they loosed a fireball and it crashed into the sea of wings instead of into Phoenix's face.
"Sorry, bats," Nikola warned, and targeted the closest one with her [Crunch]. Her cleaver easily rendered the little thing to paste in the air, its brittle bones shattering upon contact.
She flew through the air, an array of familiar black squares rising all around her as she began to [Crunching Cleave] between as few flappy friends as possible. Her cloak danced in the air behind her as she flew straight into one of the Mages casting.

"AHHG!" They screamed as the shine of her cleaver broke through the wall of vermin, snipping the muscle of their shoulder in two handily. They were [Crippled] from the blow, but not dead - well, at least not until they misjudged the amount of space they had to fall to one knee, and went face-first into the hole below instead. The wet noise they made as they were impaled couldn't even be heard above the wing beats.
She swung her weapon diagonally and targeted the snippy lime-haired man at last, bursting forth from the shroud of ebbing and flowing darkness and catching them between the eyes with the corner of her blade.
Their head was summarily [Crippled], and they toppled backward into the crowd. With the number of people still left on this side of the room, she wouldn't be able to last for long - but now that the most vocal among them was fountaining blood from their forehead, would she even need to?
She reveled in the bloodshed for a split second, her fingertips on fire with a burning desire for more-- but she was pulled out of her reverie when she began to stall in the air.
She, remorsefully, sliced a diagonal line and took out several abnormally cute bats on the way over to the other side of the room, grabbing Luke's securely fastened cape as she yeeted past.
"AH!" He hollered as his feet fell out from under him, but once he realized he wasn't on his way downward to end up a shishkebab, he calmed.
On the 10th use of her [Crunching Cleave], the skill no longer procced. Which came as a surprise to Nikola, the streak of colour sailing through the air.
One hell of a surprise, in fact; they were 2 pillars away from the other side when her momentum ceased and they began to fall.

"No," she gasped as gravity took hold.
Luke opened his mouth to scream, but remembered that he could also do things. He scraped the quickest [Sword Dash] he had ever drawn into the sky and sent them rocketing past the lip of the ledge and straight into the wall.
They slapped into the vertical plane in unison with an 'oof' from Luke, but landed on solid ground, greeted by a slow clapping Giga and a grinning elf.
"Do not cross us again," Phoenix threatened through the cloud of bats, "or we will finish the job next time. We really are quite pleasant if you aren't murderous fiends!"
Nikola, with her cheek smushed against the wall, stared wide-eyed at Luke. She blinked her icy eyes and turned her head to Phoenix as well; her party members had defended her. She didn't remember the last time she had relied on anybody else besides her own father, but even the more ephemeral members of their party had held up and remained loyal in the heat of the moment.
Which wasn't over. "Let us go while they're distracted," Nikola suggested as she pushed herself off the wall and began to sprint down the next hall, which was on the left side of the room and curved to the right. One set of people was ahead of them; she wondered how far they had progressed in the time they'd taken.
A pang of pain radiated from her hip. It felt warm and wet, and she remembered in that moment that she had been stabbed. The wound was superficial, but it pained her more as the adrenaline left her. She tried not to limp as she led the way to the next room; while the others in the group had proven themselves so far, she didn't know how they would proceed knowing she was weakened.
Luke, Phoenix and Giga followed closely behind her, Phoenix turned so he was skipping quickly backward in tiny, short steps. His weapon was drawn, his gaze alert.
They reached the end of the hall together, in a thin line, and it opened into a wide, cave-like room with stalactites piercing down from the ceiling. Frost coated the edges of the room, and humming snarls found her ears as they entered.
Her question of how far the party ahead of them had gotten was answered when she searched the room; two of them were splattered across the cave floor, and the last was backing away from a pair of snarling wolves with their haunches up.
They were bulky and fuzzy, with a thick coat of fur whose tips ended in silver. Their paws dripped with a glimmering ooze, coating the floors in gobs of the stuff.
"Silverbark Wolves," Luke murmured, putting his arms out to halt the golden ones behind him, "they're tough. Level 10, and there are two of them. Stay away from the puddles they leave on the ground; the silver sticks you to the floor if you stand on it for long enough."
"Got it," GigaGold rumbled, yanking his massive sword from the sheath seated on his back.
"Before we jump in--" Phoenix interjected, "what do you make of the one that remains? Shall we extend a helping hand?"

Godfather Of Champions
This is a story about the pursuit of victory.— «I subscribe only to the theory of victory. I only pursue victory. As long as I am able to obtain victory, I don’t care if it’s total football or counterattack. What is the ultimate goal of professional soccer? In my opinion, it is victory, and the pinnacle of victory is to become the champions. I am a manager. If I don’t wish to lose my job or be forgotten by the people, there’s only one path for me to take, and that is to lead the team in obtaining victories, in obtaining championship titles!»The main character was not well-liked by people.— «⋯We conducted a survey which had been deemed by Manager Tony Twain as extremely meaningless. In a random street survey conducted, ninety-three percent of those surveyed chose the option ‘I hate Tony Twain’, while only seven percent chose the option ‘This person is rather decent, I like him’. It is worth noting that nobody chose the option ‘Who is Tony Twain? I don’t know him’. Mark, do you know why Manager Twain felt that our survey was very meaningless?» Parker, a reporter from laughed loudly and said when he was being interviewed by BBC.But there were also people who were madly in love with him.— When Tony Twain was forced to talk about the survey conducted by during an interview, his reply was : «I am happy, because Nottingham Forest’s fans make up seven percent of England’s population.»And he did not seem to care about how the others saw him.— «What are you all trying to make me say? Admit that I am not popular, and everywhere I go will be filled with jeers and middle fingers. You all think I will be afraid? Wrong! Because I am able to bring victory to my team and its supporters. I don’t care how many people hate me and can’t wait to kill me, and I also won’t change myself to accommodate the mood of these losers. You want to improve your mood? Very simple, come and defeat me.»His love story had garnered widespread attention.— «Our reporters took these pictures at Manager Tony Twain’s doorsteps. It clearly shows that Shania entered his house at 8.34pm and she did not leave the house throughout the night at all. But Manager Tony Twain firmly denies, and insists that that was merely the newest-model inflatable doll which he had ordered. He was the number one star of the team.— «⋯ Became the spokesperson of world-wide famous clothing brands, shot advertisements, frequented the fashion industry’s award ceremonies, endorsed electronic games, has a supermodel girlfriend. His earnings from advertisements exceed his club salary by seventeen times, owns a special column in various print medias, publishing his autobiography (in progress), and is even said that he is planning to shoot an inspirational film based off his own person experiences! Who can tell me which part of his life experiences is worthy of being called ‘inspirational’? Hold on⋯. Are you all thinking that I’m referring to David Beckham? You’re sorely mistaken! I’m talking about Manager Tony Twain⋯.»He was very knowledgeable about Chinese soccer.— «⋯ I’ve heard about it, that Bora gifted four books to his manager Mr. Zhu before your country’s national team’s warm up match. After which, the team lost 1:3 to a nameless American team from Major League Soccer. The new excuse that Mr. Zhu gave for losing the match, was that Bora gifted «books» (‘books’ and ‘lose’ are homophones in the Chinese language). Here, I recommend that you guys find out what that one specific book is. Which book? Of course the one that caused you all to score a goal. After that, tell me the title of the book. Before every match, I will gift ten copies of that same book to you. In that case, won’t you all be able to get a triumphant 10:0 win over your opponents every time?» An excerpt taken from Tony Twain’s special column in a certain famous Chinese sports newspaper. He was loved and hated by the press.— «He has a special column in at least four renowned print media, and he is able to get a considerable amount of remuneration just by scolding people or writing a few hundred words of nonsense weekly. While we have to contemplate hard about our drafts for three days before our boss is pleased with it. In an article inside his special column, he scolded and called all of the media ‘son of a bitch’, announcing that he hated the media the most. But every time he publishes an article, we flock towards him like flies which had spotted butter. Why? Because the readers like to read his news and see him scold people. I dare to bet with you, and Manager Tony Twain knows clearly in his heart as well, that even though he says that he hates us, he knows that the present him cannot do without us. Similarly, we also cannot do without him. Is this ultimately considered a good or a bad thing?» Bruce Pearce, a reporter from said with a face of helplessness when talking about Tony Twain. But no matter the case, his players were his most loyal believers.— Gareth Bale, «No no, we never had any pressure when playing on our home grounds. Because the pressure is all on the manager. As long as we see him standing by the side of the field, all of us will feel that we will be able to win that match. Even the football hooligans are like meek lambs in front of him!» (After saying this, he began to laugh out loudly)The reply from George Wood, the team captain of Nottingham Forest, was the most straightforward. «We follow him because he can bring us victory.»The legendary experience of Tony Twain, the richest, most successful, most controversial manager with the most unique personality!Debuting this summer.Thank you for reading.

Mr.Easy's adventure in One Piece
A self-insert story(as much logic as it can have or I can put in it), a little different than most, as the name says about his personality, he is easy-going (lazy). Lazy in a sense as he doesn't care most of the time what’s happening to the world. (NOTE: Mr. Easy (I) do not care much about going with the straw hats that much (well, you will see that in about a few chapters, but still this will revolve around them.) DON'T HOPE TOO MUCH ORIGINAL (ONE PIECE) STORYLINE FROM ME (just saying not shouting), because if you don't cause some changes then what’s the point in going in a fiction.

Welcome to Devos
Welcome to a world where humor, drama, and action clash in epic tales spanning a vast continent....Welcome to Devos An anime styled medieval fantasy world featuring heroes, gods, and demons in a grounded and story/character focused series. A world where the gods of power bestow elemental abilities on those they find worthy. Welcome to Devos is broken up into parts, each part is more or less a complete story that expands the world, characters, and kingdoms of Devos. It plays out a lot like Game of Thrones where instead of a lead character you have an entire cast, each one getting plenty of time to develop over the course of the series. It is a relatively grounded, character and story-driven adventure that focuses on people of interest and their relationships with each other, their nations, and the eight gods of power. While the story features a good blend of light and dark themes it can get really grim at times. The continent of Devos is comprised of 5 territories, they include the three kingdoms of Verdun, Ashmir, and Vespa along with the territories of two demon lords to the north and south. The time period and setting are basically what you would find in a fantasy anime. There are eight gods of power which wield eight different elements and have the ability to "bless" individuals with certain abilities. Monsters roam the wilderness and the ruins/dungeons that are scattered throughout the landscape. Adventurers complete quests, hunt monsters, and explore the vast continent. We've got heroes, demon lords, gods, spys, special operations assault teams, phantom eagles, kings & queens, cursed chickens, talking goblins, and a whole shit ton more already in with plenty more coming soon.
