《Molting the Mortal Coil》Chapter 733 - Training

Yuhan was a Beast Tamer and he was used to training huge Demonic Beasts, so supervising the exercise for a bunch of children was pretty simple. Liuxian would have a more difficult time keeping the kids focused on their studies and learning after they were tired from their morning exercise. Yijun had the hardest job, teaching them martial arts forms and ensuring they performed them precisely, especially after the other two lessons.
As their grandpa, Yuhan was bound to be a bit gentler on the children, but by the end of the day Yijun would be quite rough to keep them all on task. This was also important since their skill in the martial arts was the most important thing needed to safeguard their lives. If they slacked off in their physical training or learning things would still be okay, but if they failed in their martial arts it could lead to their death one day. The children would all be attending the same types of lessons everyday, but given their varying ages the amount of time they spent at each task would also vary. The oldest boys were nearing the age of nine at this time while the youngest kids were barely two. The two year olds would mostly just be watching their siblings for a few hours a day, while the oldest boys would spend at least eight hours a day with their new trainers.
As for the content these three would be teaching, Sage trusted the three to handle such simple concerns. Especially since they had already had access to Sage’s library for many years at this point. Sage had created memory spheres with bits of the modern knowledge of Earth that he remembered. It was far from comprehensive, but there was a bit about using weights to build muscle for Yuhan, and a full copy of the Jade Mantle technique that Yijun could use to guide her choice of martial arts to teach. With the technique in hand, she should be able to figure out proper arts to teach them that would make it easier for them to master Jade Mantle in the future. Liuxian on the other hand had the most material from Sage. In fact he was chosen because, remarkably, the giant man was the most skilled in the Purple Mist Sect with the Earth knowledge that Sage had left in the library.

Even if it had been many years since he was reborn here on this planet, he had a whole lifetime of learning to copy down. Especially when it comes to math and science. He figured he had forgotten everything, but the memory of a cultivator was many times stronger than a mortal and as soon as Sage started recording things down it started to flow out without stopping. After pouring out as much of his knowledge as he could he then had to go back and organize it. Much of it was of little use in this world, but he sorted and categorized it nonetheless. He added this Memory Sphere to the library in the sect and it just so happened that Liuxian was a voracious learner. The burly man seemed to have read and studied every single text in the Purple Mist Sect Library, which was of quite considerable size since it contained everything from the Timeless Master’s library along with all the many techniques that had been accumulated in his life so far. Sage was especially proud of the small section of techniques that he had a part in inventing.
With the children’s learning entrusted to these three, Ling, Jiao and himself were now free to spend every meal and night with them. After getting so harshly berated by Yijun, they were now the good guys in comparison. Especially Ling and Jiao since Sage was the one that had arranged for these teachers of theirs. They were upset, but there was little they could do because they all learned from a young age that if they tried to run they’d just get picked up by the Purple Mist Sect around them. Worse off, if they misbehaved, they’d get punished with more hours training with Yijun.
“Are you sure this is what we should be doing, Husband? Little Xing comes home with tears dried in his eyes every other night.”
“All the more reason he needs to keep training. If all it takes is a little yelling to make him cry then what will happen when he goes outside?”

Jiao’s eyes flashed with ferocity and she glared at her husband, “He is only seven!”
“That’s plenty old enough to do some exercise and learn some numbers. If Yijun’s insults are making him cry then this is a good opportunity. If you back down now then he’ll learn that it's okay to quit if your feelings get hurt.”
“Or he might just have a breakdown and be traumatized for his whole life!”
“If that happens then we’ll get an Alchemist to make a pill to fix him and we’ll know he’s not strong enough to enter the outside world. He can just live his whole life on the Inner World in safety, okay?”
Jiao was a little frustrated at his ridiculous answer, but she couldn’t forget how this husband of hers seemed to be quite skilled at making enemies. The thought of one of her children getting killed like that turned out to be more powerful than the bit of dried tears she saw in her son’s eyes every few nights.
“Little Xing hasn’t complained about the training, has he? Even if you can see dried tears, does he complain about how it happened?”
Jiao frowned and realized he had not, “So, Little Xing is being brave? What if he’s just too scared of Yijun to say anything?”
“We will just have to see how it goes then. Even if they come to you begging to be saved we should not give in. They each have an attendant watching them all the time, if there is any funny business going on we’ll find out about it.”
Surprisingly, the fierce Jiao was worried about the children being overworked, while Ling had mellowed to the change. She was once known as a ruthless businesswoman in the past and she was no stranger to sacrificing in the now to nurture a future investment. She could only pull Jiao away with a hushed voice. Sage heard something about ‘safety measures’ and he guessed that Ling had set up her own safeguards when it came to the education of their children.
Without any newborns to run them ragged, he finally had more time free to work on his many projects. Yet, the priorities for those projects changed rapidly. All of his research was only upon those things that his family would need. More specifically, he got constant feedback from Yijun on the children’s progress and tried to perfect the Jade Mantle for them. In addition, he continually refined the ‘Nine Heart Arrangement’, which was what he was calling the combination of techniques that he used to form a Poison Core and multiple poison dantians.
He was only regretful that he had no similarly useful technique related to the eyes of the Sea Locust or to make use of their pheromones. It was his hope that the future generations would help fill in these areas. Just like every other clan or sect, he hoped they would continually improve upon the foundation their ancestors set, just as Sage was doing with the Jade Mantle. He’d always been wary of having only one set path for his family to follow. Even if it was a powerful path, it would be inevitable that many would not be suited for it. He hoped that by having multiple options available there would be a path to greatness for everyone, but in the end it was only his hope and there were no guarantees.
