Serenity’s back on Earth, and he’s even managed to close the first invasion portal far ahead of schedule. It wasn’t without consequences, but it’s a good beginning. On top of that, the threat to Rissa seems to be gone; Frank Smith is in jail and unlikely to be released any time soon.

Unfortunately, there are still many problems facing Serenity; not only has a Sterath deity challenged him for his name but some of the magic teachers in the Tutorial seem to be doing a very poor job of teaching students.

On top of that, one of the friends he met on Tzintkra is still missing. Katya somehow ended up at the Serenity Settlement instead of staying with Serenity himself. The people there seem friendly enough, but it’s much smaller than what Serenity described - is it really large enough to support her entire extended family of craftspeople?
