“That’s it for the weather, back to you Brendan.”
“Thanks, Terry! Oh what’s that? Breaking news folks, it seems a super is rampaging downtown right now! GNN’s chopper is on the scene, let’s go to the live feed. Parents, please be advised the following footage could be disturbing.”
People screamed as a bestial roar sounded through the streets. Police sirens, honking horns, and the beating of a helicopter’s blades contributed to the cacophony. Every which way, pedestrians ran, a flood surging forth.
And at the epicenter of the chaos.
A massive beast of a man. He was nine foot tall, his arms and legs the size of tree trunks. His bulging muscles stretched his skin to their utmost limits. He wore a black wrestling mask and wrestling suit, the material stretched taunt. He roared as he lifted a hotdog cart over his head, pouring out its contents into his mouth.
Surrounding him was a blockade of police cars, dozens of officers with handguns and shotguns aimed on target. One had a loudspeaker held to his mouth.
“NYPD! Put down the cart and put your hands up!”
The beast ignored them and continued his feasting.
“This is your last warning! Cease and desist or we will open fire!”
All the officers turned to the captain. The captain nodded.
“Bring him down!”
Thunder roared as the officers opened fire. Shell casings clattered as they hit the ground by the officers feet. The square lit up like the sky on the Fourth of July.
And flattened bullet-heads clinked onto the ground.
The assault was harmless.
But it was not unnoticed.
The man lowered his gaze from the cart overhead to the officers around him. His face twisted into a snarl. He pulled his hands back, and then with a roar, let the cart fly.
“Move!”
The police officers dove to the ground as the cart smashed into one of the police cars. A shadow grew overhead, then with a mighty crash the man landed on the car, flattening what remained of it.
“If Hungry Smasher can’t eat, then he’ll smash!”
The Hungry Smasher ripped the bumper off the flattened car, lobbing it into the windshield of another. The nearest police officers broke and ran. The ones on the other side of the encirclement kept up their fire. Hungry Smasher turned, and with another snarl leapt to the other side. The concrete cracked as he landed in front of the blockade, police gaping as he lifted a car high overhead. The police kept firing at point blank range, but the bullets still bounced harmlessly away. Two police officers cried out and closed their eyes as the hunk of metal came down upon them.

They waited for their deaths.
And waited.
And kept waiting?
They timidly opened their eyes. The car was frozen in the air, silently vibrating midair. The Hungry Smasher blinked as he pushed on the vehicle, but it refused to move.
And standing in front of the officers…
Black hair. Brown eyes. A blue and yellow latex suit over a thin body. A blue domino mask over her face. Yellow gloves, fingers spreading out at the end of stretching arms.
A teenage girl?
The girl grunted.
“Get out of here! I can’t hold this forever!”
The police officers started at the cry, then nodded and ran. Sweat trickled down the girl’s forehead. Hungry Smasher grit his teeth and growled as he pushed on the car.
Just as the girl grit her teeth a black shadow shot by the car. The Hungry Smasher flew backwards with a bang, crashing into a tree.
“Finally!”
The girl dropped her hands and leapt to the side. The car stopped vibrating and immediately smashed into the ground where the girl once stood. The girl dusted herself off as she stood, and walked up to another teen standing in front of her. He had short blonde hair, a red mask covering just his blue eyes. He wore a red suit with a blue cape, with a ‘W’ written in yellow on his chest.
“Took your time, Wonder Knight! I almost died.”
Wonder knight rubbed the back of his head.
“Ah, sorry about that, Chronolock.”
Hungry smasher stood back up from where he lay, brushing branches and leaves off his shoulder. He threw his arms to the side as he let out a roar, his muscles bulging.
“Wow, that bro’s kind of ugly.”
“He seems in pain, I wonder what’s wrong with him.”
Two more teens arrived on the scene. One, all but his eyes wrapped in black and purple robes. The second, another girl in a pink and white dress and helmet with a clear, pink visor over a pink domino mask, with large white gauntlets around her wrists.
“All right team, let’s do this. Pink Star, distract him. I’ll wrap around and go for the arms. Chronolock, trip up his legs. Voidspeaker, drain him once he’s down.”

“All right, bro.”
“Yea, we got this!”
“Whatever.”
“Aurora Legion, let’s go!”
The four scattered as the Hungry Smasher galloped forth. Pink Star held out her hands, her gauntlets glowing pink.
“I choose you, Gorilla!”
Pink light burst from her gauntlets and formed into the shape of a gorilla. The glowing gorilla beat its chest and let out a roar, before bounding into the approaching villain. Man and gorilla grabbed each other’s hands and stared the other down, muscles bulging and concrete cracking under them. Both grunted and gripped their hands, but the winner was clear. The gorilla took a step back, its body beginning to flash.
Just then red arms wrapped underneath the Hungry Smasher’s shoulders and up to his neck as Wonder Knight appeared on his back. Wonder Knight let out a shout and pulled back with all his might. Hungry Smasher’s eyes widened and he stumbled back. As he did Chronolock slid in amidst the chaos and thrust out her hand at Hungry Smasher’s boot. The boot began vibrating and immediately stopped moving. Hungry Smasher let out a cry as he fell backwards, smashing into the ground.
“Gah!”
With Wonder Knight under him. And then the gorilla leapt on top of them both, pinning them to the ground.
Voidspeaker floated towards the mass of bodies, closed his eyes, and held out his hands. He waved them in circles, the left moving clockwise, the right moving counter clockwise. A black substance which blocked all light appeared over his hands, growing, growing, growing.
His eyes shot open.
He clasped together his hands.
The substance formed into a large, black sphere.
“Experience nothingness!”
A black beam shot from his hands into the fallen villain. Hungry Smasher’s eyes widened, he cried out and thrashed about. But his thrashing grew slower, his cries grew quieter, his eyelids grew narrower.
Until he finally stopped.
As the large man began to snore, Pink Star and Voidspeaker let down their hands. The black beam and the pink gorilla both scattered into colored particles. Wonder Knight threw the Hungry Smasher to the side with a grunt.
“Ugh. Ok, that was a stupid idea.”
Voidspeaker shrugged.
“It was your idea, bro.”
“Ugh.”
“Um, I thought it was a great idea, Wonder Knight!”
“Thanks Pink Star, but you don’t have to humor me. I can feel exactly how good of an idea it was, ouch.”
As Wonder Knight stood to his feet, police officers and news reporters slowly crept towards the group.
“Who, who are you?”
Wonder Knight looked at his team. Pink Star nodded with a wink, Voidspeaker gave a thumbs up, and Chronolock rolled her eyes. The team gathered up and faced the growing crowd. Wonder Knight stood with his legs spread, pointing a thumb to himself and winking. Voidspeaker floated in the air as he crossed his legs and assumed a meditation stance. Pink Star skipped on one leg and held her hand in a ‘V’ shape across her face. Chronolock just crossed her arms and leaned back.

The Pet Dragon
Reborn as a dragon and stumbling through the world the MC feels rather disadvantaged. This story is a writing challenge for myself for fun and I'll start with one chapter every day though they might not be particularly long. I did not plan anything out but I have ideas. Freeform was supposed to be this but my ideas were too complicated and I couldn't keep myself from overthinking it. Well, that failed. I will resume this story at a later date.

Duality of a Soul
In the land of magic and demons, knights and forgotten ancient technologies. What would you do if you were to wake up one day amidst all of this without your memories? Will you do everything you can to get them back to be who you were, or leave the past behind and begin anew? Follow along with our main character as he struggles to establish his new identity while the shadows of his past threaten to consume him. To be a detested hero or celebrated villain? Only time will tell. Author’s Note: Heavily influenced by fantasy goodness far and wide, I hope to make it somewhat original with a sense of familiarity to you. The overall story is pieced together through the perspective of the characters presented, first + third person narrative styles because I enjoy reading novels with similar storytelling. Please feel free to provide any comments and constructive criticisms for me because I love to read what you think so I can continue to improve on my imperfections and make the story better. Cheers!
