《Arranged Love (Currently Being Edited)》Chapter 22 - Friends No More

That night Paulo cooked dinner again like he did every night. Their system where she cooked breakfast and he cooked dinner had been working out really well and she appreciated the fact that he was willing to help out with the cooking and even helped her clean up after meals. It might seem like something small but to her that meant something.
She finished washing the last fork and sat it in the drying rack before turning around, looking up and coming face to face with Paulo. He was standing so close that it made her heart skip a beat and she stood there paralyzed, looking up into his hazel eyes.
He stepped closer and she stepped back, feeling her butt hitting up against the kitchen counter behind her. Without a word he looked down into her eyes and lifted his hand slowly, tucking her hair behind her ear and she swallowed hard. That soft touch tickled her neck and sent a shiver across her skin.
She could feel her heart pounding against her chest, so loud she was afraid he'd be able to hear it and her legs started to feel weak. Her gaze left his eyes and moved down to his lips as he slowly leaned in closer, so close she could smell his cologne and the mint on his breath.
He looked into her eyes and whispered against her lips, "Fuck. I can't take this. I don't want to be just your friend anymore Eva."
Hearing that made her stomach do a flip and she stood there as still as a statue waiting to see what he would do next.
"Can I kiss you?" he whispered against her cheek.
She lifted her head, looking up into his eyes and nodded slowly, unable to speak.
His hand slipped around the back of her neck and she closed her eyes right as his lips pressed against hers. Her heart leaped and the butterflies in her stomach went wild as his lips skimmed across hers, sending a tingle across her skin.
He turned his head to the side as he covered her mouth with his, his tongue pushing past her lips and massaging against her tongue while he pulled in at her waist, bringing his body against hers. She raised her arms and wrapped them around his neck, kissing him back desperately as their mouths moved against each other in perfect harmony. She had been longing to kiss him again ever since their wedding, even dreaming about it a couple times and it didn't disappoint. Kissing him made her feel like her insides were jello and she could melt into a puddle or faint right there in his strong arms that were holding her up.
It seemed like he might've been desperate to kiss her too because he kissed her like she had never been kissed before, with so much passion. It wasn't just a kiss. It was so deep and strong and possessive, like he was marking her as his, letting her know that no one else could ever make her feel like that but him.
He finally stepped back, looking down into her eyes and searching her face, glancing down at her lips before turning around and walking away without a word, leaving her leaning against the counter, panting with her heart pounding against her chest. She raised her hand and touched her fingers to her swollen lips and couldn't help but smile. She felt like letting out a squeal and doing a little happy dance but she controlled herself and turned around to finish cleaning up instead.

A while later she was sitting on the couch watching a DVD when he came in and stood behind the couch for a minute without saying a word. She was kind of hoping he was going to bring up the kiss and the fact that he didn't want to be just friends anymore.
He didn't. Instead he asked, "So ummmm, what do you feel like doing tonight?"
"Well I already watched a movie and it's already dark out so that limits our options. Oh! Actually, I do have an idea! I noticed the house has a fire pit and I saw some marshmallows in the cabinet. Maybe you could start a fire and we could roast marshmallows, sip on some wine and then maybe go for a night swim?"
"That sounds good. I'll go start the fire," he said, before heading outside through the sliding door.
She headed to the bedroom and put on her skimpiest string bikini. It was a tiny, little orange one that Astrid had given her as a gift specifically for the honeymoon. It left very little to the imagination. It was a good thing they were on this island alone because her parents would never approve of her wearing something that tiny that showed that much skin out in public. It was perfect for a honeymoon though and after that kiss earlier, she wanted to do everything she could to seduce Paulo.
She pulled on her silk pajama top and shorts over the bikini before pouring two glasses of wine, and grabbing the skewers and marshmallows and heading outside. Paulo was out there sitting on a two-seater lounge chair by the fire pit and already had a pretty large fire going. She sat on the seat next to him and handed him a glass of wine and a skewer before putting marshmallows on both their skewers.
These were extra large oversized marshmallows and Paulo grabbed one out of the bag and put it in his mouth and struggled to fit it in and chew it.
"Hey! You're supposed to toast it first!" she laughed, smacking his arm.
"sldjfie'agvalidknv" he answered back in gibberish because his mouth was way too stuffed to talk. He grabbed another marshmallow from the bag and held it out in front of her lips and when she opened her mouth he stuffed it in there making her laugh hysterically.
She struggled to chew it up just like he had and he laughed at her puffy cheeks. "Hseoisjglijs" he said and she couldn't understand a word.
When she smiled, marshmallow came oozing out, making him laugh and almost spit out the marshmallow in his mouth. That made her laugh too. When they both had fully chewed their marshmallows, Eva reached down and took a sip of her wine and sat back on the chair laughing to herself. She was so happy that Paulo turned out to have such a good sense of humor and was actually fun to be around.
He grabbed his glass of wine and took a drink and wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer to his side. She rested her head on his shoulder and exhaled deeply, feeling completely happy being with him in that moment. They sat there quietly for a while enjoying the silence and then Eva sat up and asked, "Are you ready to go for a swim?"
"Sure," he nodded.
She stood up off the chair and pulled her pajama shorts and shirt off, revealing the tiny orange bikini and watched as Paulo's eyes widened, looking her up and down.

"Wow Eva. You look..." he started to say but before he could finish Eva took off running and did a cannonball into the pool, sending out a huge splash of water.
He walked over to the pool's edge and said, "Why don't we make it more interesting and go skinny dipping?"
She swam over to the side of the pool in front of him and held out her hand, "Sure. Help me out and we'll do that."
He reached his hand out to help her but instead of getting out she yanked his hand towards her, pulling him face-first into the pool while she laughed hysterically. He came up dripping wet, wiping the water from his face with a look that made her bust out laughing.
"I was still wearing all my clothes! You're gonna pay for that!" he said coming towards her and she screamed and quickly climbed out of the pool and ran into the house, locking the sliding door behind her.
Eva stood in front of the large glass door laughing and catching her breath as she looked out and struggled to figure out where he was. She didn't see him anywhere. Maybe he decided not to come after her and got back in the pool, she thought.
"This house has two doors you know?" a deep voice said from behind her and she jumped and screamed, making him laugh as he grabbed her around the waist and hoisted her up over his shoulder.
He opened the sliding door and carried her outside as she screamed for him to put her down.
He walked over to the pool and said, "Okay. I'll put you down."
Then he took her off of his shoulder and tossed her into the deep end. She came up and splashed water at him, making him smile as he peeled his wet shirt and shorts off until he was just in his wet boxer briefs that clung to his skin. He stood back and ran and jumped over her into the pool doing a cannon ball and making a huge wave of water cover her head.
When he came up out of the water he was smiling and she swam over and put both of her hands on top of his head and tried to dunk him under but he was too strong. He didn't budge.
"Is this what you're trying to do?" he asked, putting his hand on her head and pushing her under easily.
She came back up, tossing her wet hair back and laughing. She sat there treading water for a minute looking at him and smiling. He swam over closer to her and said, "You're actually a lot more fun than I thought you would be. I thought you were going to be uptight and serious all the time."
She laughed and said, "That's funny because that's actually what I thought about you. When we first met I actually wondered if you even knew how to smile. You were so grumpy those first couple days."
"Yeah I'm really sorry about that. It wasn't your fault. I was just mad at my parents for forcing me into this marriage when they knew how much I didn't want it."
She looked at him for a minute with the moonlight glistening off his shoulder muscles and wet hair. He looked more handsome than ever.
"What about now? Do you still not want it?" she asked quietly.
He swam a little closer and made a face like he was thinking, "Well we're already married now so it's too late. I guess I'm stuck with you for the rest of my life."
She made a shocked expression and splashed water in his face. He laughed and swam right up against her, resting his arms around her waist and she held onto his broad shoulders to steady herself in the water.
His face was right up next to hers and he looked into her eyes and his smile slowly faded and so did hers. Looking at him like that made her heart start to beat faster.
"The truth is Eva. I was pushing you away because Rosalie said she loved me and I thought being with you was betraying her. Now I know that she never loved me and I'm so thankful my parents were able to see through her bullshit when I couldn't. They were right about her," he said, stepping closer, "and they were right about you too," he said softly.
"They were?" she asked, feeling hesitantly optimistic.
"Yeah," he smiled, lifting his hand and tucking her wet dripping hair behind her ear, looking into her eyes.
"I didn't want to fall for you and give my parents the satisfaction that they had won, but I realize now that pushing you away was hurting me way more than it was hurting them because you're pretty amazing. I think my parents forcing me into this marriage might have been the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Hearing that made her heart melt because that was what she had been hoping so desperately to hear. He cupped the side of her face and ran his thumb over her bottom lip, looking down at it.
She held her breath as she looked up into his eyes with her heart pounding as he slowly leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers and she closed her eyes, feeling her insides flutter.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and he tilted his head and deepened the kiss, pushing his tongue past her lips and massaging it against hers as he firmly gripped onto her waist, bringing her body against his. His kiss made her entire body feel like it was on fire. She felt a rush of adrenaline surge through her as she kissed him back, tightening her hold on him as her heart started to pound faster.
She could feel something hard growing between them, pressing against her stomach and that made her face blush. Apparently he wanted her as much as she wanted him right now. She pressed her body forward, rubbing up against his hardness and he pulled back from the kiss to let out a groan, looking down into her eyes.
They were both panting, with water dripping from their hair and face and she looked up at him and breathlessly said, "I want you." Her heart was pounding against her ribs and she swallowed hard, feeling vulnerable in that moment as she studied his handsome face. "I want you so bad right now Paulo."
"I want you too," he panted, before crashing his lips against hers and scooping her up into his arms. He started walking her over to the side of the pool with his mouth never leaving hers.
