《Arranged Love (Currently Being Edited)》Chapter 12 - The Next Day

"Okay," Eva said hesitantly, laying her things down and walking over to sit down on the end of the bed.
He threw the sheet off of himself and stood up, revealing a smooth tan chest, rippled washboard abs and broad strong shoulders. Seeing that left her speechless, sitting there looking up at him like a deer stuck in headlights. Then her eyes scanned down to his black boxer briefs and the large bulge that was in the front of them.
His chiseled, sculpted body reminded her of the marble statues of the Greek gods in her castle museum and looking at it made her insides flutter and her heart beat a little faster. She couldn't believe this gorgeous man was her husband.
She swallowed hard and said, "Ummm. What did you want to talk about?" looking back up at his face and trying to concentrate, even though he had her feeling flustered.
Paulo took a deep breath in and let it out, pacing the floor before saying, "My Dad made sure to tell me about ten thousand times how important it was for us to consummate our marriage last night. He said if we didn't, the marriage could be ruled invalid and annulled and our trade agreements would be void. When I argued and said I wouldn't rush you into anything, he threatened to bring back the old royal family tradition of the bedding ceremony where witnesses stood around and watched your first time on your wedding night to make sure it actually happened."
"What? Are you serious?" she gasped, raising her eyebrows with wide eyes, making a disgusted face. "Ewww. I can't even imagine the humiliation of having people watch."
"Yeah. I'm dead serious. He finally agreed not to after I stopped arguing and promised him we'd go through with it. Both our countries need heirs ASAP so our parents are really putting on the pressure." He looked down and ran a hand up through his hair, letting out an exhale before adding, "but there was no way I was going to do it when you were that drunk, even if it was our wedding night."
She looked at him, thinking for a second before quietly saying, "Thank you."
He cleared his throat and said, "So, I think we should probably lie to them and say we did it last night so they don't overreact. Don't you think?"
"Yeah," she said with a nod. "My Mom was saying something to me yesterday about it too. About how we needed to start trying right away."
She looked around the room for a second awkwardly and then down at her fidgeting hands.
"Okay. Then that's what we'll do. We'll lie if anyone asks us. The fact that we haven't consummated our marriage has to stay between us. No one else can know about it. Not even your best friend."
"Got it," she said, looking back up at him.
"Good," he said as he walked over to get clothes out of his suitcase.
She got up to get ready and he turned around and almost ran into her, stopping with his body right up against hers. She swallowed hard at the sight of his almost naked body so close in front of her, freezing for a second as she slowly looked up into his eyes with her heart racing. She freaked out and quickly grabbed her things and rushed past him into the bathroom.

She was standing in front of the vanity putting on some makeup when he walked into the bathroom in just his boxer briefs and walked over to the toilet on the opposite wall and started peeing. His back was facing her so she couldn't see anything but her face was flushing red because she felt weird about being in there while he used the bathroom and hearing it.
"I'm getting in the shower," he said flushing the toilet before walking over and starting up the water, checking the temperature before stripping his briefs off and she could see his butt cheeks in the reflection of the mirror in front of her.
She stood there in shock with wide eyes. It stopped her heart and she was paralyzed, forgetting how to breath or talk for a minute. She had never seen a man naked before so she wasn't prepared for that, even if it was just his back side. Apparently walking around naked was no big deal to Paulo but to her it was a really big deal.
As she watched him step into the shower and pull the shower door closed she felt flustered and it took her brain a minute to focus on the eyeliner she had been trying to put on.
As she listened to the spray of the water, and saw the vague outline of his naked body in the frosted shower glass she stood there thinking about the fact that her husband didn't have sex with her on their wedding night. She wasn't sure whether to be thankful that he was a gentleman or offended that he didn't seem desperate to get in her pants. When she thought about it she decided to be grateful that he hadn't tried to sleep with her while she was drunk last night because she probably wouldn't have remembered her first time with her husband or losing her virginity. That would've been terrible.
She was standing at the vanity, straightening the last strand of her hair when she heard a knock at the door and she walked out and answered it to see that it was the room service Paulo had ordered. She rolled the cart inside, handing the man a tip with a smile before closing the door behind her. She had noticed last night that the balcony had a nice table and chairs with a few pots of flowers and a beautiful view of the city, so she decided they would eat out there.
After she had the table set up and poured herself and Paulo a cup of steaming coffee, he walked out onto the balcony with only a white towel wrapped around his waist and wet, tousled hair.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, sliding into the chair across from her.
"I've been throwing up all morning. What do you think?" she asked, with a laugh, lifting up her mug of steaming coffee and sipping on it.
"I heard," he said with a hint of a smile. "That's why I got something to help you feel better."
"You did?" she asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
"Well I didn't personally go get it. I had one of my security guards get it for me."

He walked back through the sliding door into the hotel room and came back a few seconds later with a plastic bag, getting out a can of Sprite, a packet of Tylenol and some crackers and brought them over to her.
"These should make your stomach feel better and help with your headache."
Awwww. He actually did something sweet for her. That was really thoughtful and made her heart warm a little bit.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it," she said, flipping open the Sprite and taking a sip to wash down the Tylenol and then taking a bite of the cracker.
"Well we have a busy day and we don't really have time for hangovers," he said as he took a seat.
They sat there eating in awkward silence for a little while.
"So ummmm. What's the plan for today?" she asked him.
"We're going back to the castle to say goodbye to your family and then we're riding with my parents to the airport where they'll be flying home to Spain and you and I will be flying out for our honeymoon."
"We're going on a honeymoon? But I thought we were going straight back to Spain," she said, raising her eyebrows.
"No, my parents insisted on us having a honeymoon. Mom booked us a house on a private island in the Seychelles for a week. We'll have the entire island all to ourselves so we won't have to worry about paparazzi or people bothering us."
"Oh," she said surprised. "That sounds nice. I love the beach and going swimming. I've never been to the Seychelles but my brother has and he said it's one of his favorite places he's ever been. I've always wanted to go there but hadn't gotten around to it."
"Well, I guess this is your chance," he said as he looked down and took another bite of food.
The thought of being on a private island alone with Paulo for a whole week made her feel excited and kind of nervous. He took the last bite of his food and then got up and walked inside towards his suitcase, taking what he needed to get ready into the bathroom.
Before he shut the door she called out, "Thank you for the crackers and soda. My stomach's starting to feel better already."
"Sure. Don't mention it," he said as he shut the door behind him.
Last night he seemed to be more friendly and playful and he was finally opening up a little bit to her, but this morning he felt closed off again. Maybe it was just the alcohol that was making him act more friendly last night. While she was waiting for him to get done in the bathroom she sat on the bed and turned on the TV to a local news station.
"Princess Eva looked absolutely stunning in her gown as you can see here," the female news anchor said. "These two are just too adorable together! We asked you to share your thoughts of the wedding with us on Twitter and many of you commented that you thought it was the most beautiful royal wedding in history. We're also seeing lots of comments about how beautiful their children are going to be. When do you all think we can expect an heir to the throne? Let us know what you think on Twitter. My bet is nine months!"
Eva rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote and changed the station to another news Channel that was also talking about the royal wedding and she watched it for a while. This one took it even farther and had a Photoshop expert come on and show blended pictures of Paulo and Eva's faces to predict what their children were going to look like.
"Their children are going to be gorgeous!" the expert announced and the other news anchors agreed. "How many do you think they'll have? I'm rooting for six!"
"Six!" Eva shouted out loud in disbelief. "Is this woman crazy?"
She groaned loudly and laid back onto the bed, covering her face with a pillow and closing her eyes. All of this pressure to have a baby was too much for her.
Paulo came out of the bathroom and said, "What's wrong? I heard you yelling."
Eva's muffled voice from under the pillow said, "I just want to crawl under a rock and hide from the world."
He laughed and said, "Don't we all? What are you watching here?"
She sat up and took the pillow off of her face and saw Paulo standing there facing the TV wearing only a towel wrapped low around his waist, brushing his teeth. The muscles of his toned back and broad shoulders looked so good that she laid back and covered her face up with the pillow again. Seeing his body right now was just making her even more nervous about the whole thing.
As she laid there with the pillow over her face she heard him go in the bathroom to rinse and spit out the toothpaste and then he came back in and grabbed the remote off the nightstand and rewound the show back to the beginning of the segment and he listened to the whole thing. Then he shut it off and tossed the remote on the bed next to her.
"I don't see what the big deal is. They were just talking about how beautiful our children are going to be."
She took the pillow off her face and propped herself up on her elbows, looking at him.
"It is a big deal. I feel so much pressure Paulo. Every channel is talking about us. They're taking bets on when we're going to have a baby and how many babies we'll have and how beautiful they'll be."
Paulo laughed. "What? Would you rather them say our kids are going to be ugly?"
"No but it's as if we're two prize horses being bred instead of human beings. It puts so much pressure on me to produce a baby. What if I can't? What if I'm infertile for some reason? It's like my whole worth is wrapped up in being a baby maker!"

I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
