Eva exhaled, shaking her head. For some reason, call it a woman's intuition, but she had a feeling it was a woman Paulo had to call and she wasn't sure why, but that made her feel kind of jealous and angry. She crossed her arms and turned away from him.

"Why are you mad?" he asked. "Because I was late?"

She looked back over at him and her eyes narrowed. She didn't answer, turning away again.

She hesitated for a minute before finally asking, "It was a woman you called wasn't it?" keeping her head turned away from him.

"So THAT's why you're mad? You're jealous?" he asked with a sarcastic laugh, scrunching up his face. "I literally just met you and you're already trying to act like you own me," he scoffed, leaning back and running his hands up through his hair, shaking his head in frustration.

That made her face flush red with embarrassment. She knew she had no right to be mad at him or to be jealous but she couldn't help it. Even though they didn't know each other she didn't like the idea of him talking to other women when he was going to be her husband. She didn't say anything because she wasn't sure what to say.

After a few seconds of silence between them she started waving to the crowd and putting on a fake smile, pretending to be the perfect, happily engaged princess that the people of Norway thought she was. That couldn't be further from the truth but she needed to be that for them and play her role.

Her thoughts drifted back to that phone call and she decided it must have been a woman or he wouldn't have gotten so defensive about it. She wondered if he loved her, and if he was planning to continue seeing her on the side after they were married?

She sat through the rest of the parade without looking over at him at all, looking out at the crowd with a fake smile plastered across her face, waving as if nothing was wrong. She noticed Paulo didn't wave but just sat there with his arms crossed, looking as miserable as she felt.

"You could at least make an attempt to look happy when we're out in public," she whispered, through her fake smile.

He looked over at her and gave her the most painful attempt at a smile through his gritted teeth. It was obvious he was being sarcastic and she had to hold back a laugh.

When the parade was finally over and the carriage came to a stop, Paulo stood up immediately and hurried down the steps, walking away like he couldn't get away from her fast enough. He didn't even offer to help her down out of the carriage like a man normally would. That made her face flush with embarrassment as she got up and stepped down slowly, trying not to fall in the dress and heels on those tiny steps.

She looked up and spotted her best friend Astrid waiting for her. As soon as she saw her she rushed over and gave her the biggest hug and all the emotions she was feeling bubbled up and she couldn't wait to get it off her chest. She needed to talk to someone.

"Ugh! I hate him. I don't want to marry him Astrid! I'd rather die."

Astrid coughed to clear her throat with her eyes looking over Eva's shoulder at someone standing behind her. "Ummmm," she laughed awkwardly, pointing her finger.

Eva turned around and saw Paulo standing right behind her and her heart dropped. It was obvious from the look on his face that he had heard what she just said.

He looked down at her. "Trust me. The feeling's mutual," he grumbled, before turning and walking away with his hands shoved in his suit pockets.

Eva turned back to Astrid, feeling her cheeks burning red. "Oh my gosh. I can't believe he heard me say that," she groaned, laying her forehead down onto Astrid's shoulder. "That's so embarrassing."

"Well why did you say it? What happened?" she asked, patting her back.

Eva lifted her head and said, "He's only marrying me because his parents are making him and he hardly says a word to me. He called our engagement a bad situation he's stuck in and I think he was late for the parade because he was calling his girlfriend. Then he mocked me for being jealous when I asked him about it."

"Ouch," she said, making a pained face. "I'm so sorry Eva. I can't believe he treated you like that! I don't care how hot he is. I hate him now."

"Yeah. It looks like I'm going to be stuck in a loveless marriage to an asshole," she said sadly with a sigh.

"Just what you've always wanted," Astrid said sarcastically, nudging her with her elbow and giving her a smile. She gave her her best attempt at a smile back but it was half-hearted.

"Well my offer still stands to take your place," she offered with a smile and a wink.

"I thought you said you hated him now?" Eva asked with a laugh, raising a skeptical eyebrow.

"Yeah maybe, but I'd still marry him. Hey, hate's a funny thing. It comes and goes. I mean, look at that man. How could you stay mad at that face?" she laughed.

"Very easily," Eva scoffed. "Because that face has the mouth of an asshole," she laughed and shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Astrid I swear. You're so boy crazy. Sometimes I think you would marry an axe murderer if he was hot enough."

A small smile crept across her face and she shrugged. "If he looked like Paulo I might consider it," she said wagging her eyebrows up and down and they both busted out laughing really hard.

Eva wrapped her arm around her shoulder as they started walking and said, "You're too much Astrid," looking down and smiling at her.

Astrid said, "You know you love me." Then she looked over to where Paulo was talking to Eva's parents. "You know, all jokes aside, it really is a shame he has such a bad personality because he sure is nice to look at isn't he?"

"Yeah I mean, he's gorgeous. He literally took my breath away when I first saw him, but after I talked to him he didn't look so attractive anymore."

"Oh yeah? Really? So you're trying to tell me that you're not attracted to that man over there at all?" Astrid asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow with a smile.

Eva rolled her eyes at her. "Obviously he's really good looking Astrid. I'm not blind. But he's so rude and we have nothing in common and he's made it clear that he doesn't like me at all. That makes him not attractive anymore. I seriously can't even stand the thought of becoming his wife tomorrow."

Astrid laughed, "You know the funny thing is, you're probably the ONLY woman in the entire world that would say they can't stand the thought of being his wife and you're the only woman in the world that gets to be his wife. Life is so ironically unfair isn't it?"

Eva nodded, letting out an exhale. "Yeah. It really is, isn't it?"

A smile slowly formed on their faces and they both started laughing again.

"I love you Astrid. Nobody can ever make me laugh and cheer me up like you do," Eva said, taking a deep breath in and letting it out, looking over at her best friend. "I really wish you were moving to Spain with me. I already know I'm going to be miserable and hate every second of being there without you."

"Yeah I wish I was going there with you too," she said, exhaling deeply. "But I'm going off to University to chase my dream of being an accountant. Time to start my own adventures I guess, but I'll stay in touch. I promise."

"You better," she said, giving her another hug.

King Hans called for their group to gather around so they could head to lunch at the castle. Eva hooked her arm through Astrid's and walked that way. They all gathered into a long stretched limo and Eva took a seat in the back beside Paulo, next to the window but she didn't talk to him and he didn't talk to her. When they got back to the castle they all filed out of the car and headed in and Paulo didn't even walk next to her.

She hesitated before going into the castle, standing outside the door and rummaging in her clutch for some chewing gum. She wasn't allowed to chew gum in public because it wasn't considered proper for a royal because photographs taken with your mouth half open or chewing never looked good, but now that she was at home away from the cameras it was okay. As she stood in the doorway her brother Kristoff came around the corner and spotted her, walking over.

"Are you ok Eva?"

She gave him a half hearted smile and then looked down at the gum in her hands, unwrapping it and popping it in her mouth before saying, "Sure Kristoff. I'm ok." She let out an exhale and added, "Not that it even matters if I wasn't. What I want or think doesn't seem to matter to anybody around here."

"Yes it does. It matters to me."

She gave him a weak smile.

"Thank you. At least I have you and Astrid in my corner."

"I'll always be in your corner. We might fight but that's just because we're so much alike. We're both so strong-willed and stubborn," he laughed, with a smile. He looked at her and his smile faded. "But at the end of the day Eva you know I'm your twin and I'll always love you and have your back, right?" he asked.

"Yeah I know," she said, giving him a weak smile and reaching out to hug him. She finally stepped back and said, "You know, it just hit me that I'm moving all the way to Spain without you. I've literally spent every day of my life by your side and now we're going to be in completely different countries. That's so crazy."

"Yeah," he said sadly, letting out an exhale.
