《Origin of Flames》12 Blackjack

She meows with a low growl and puts a gas mask over me. I breathe slow as her eyes widen. Blackjack lies near a fire
barrel, he breathes heavy. Their kitten paws at him. I shake my head as Calico nudges at me. I lean against a wall. I
groan, the pain's is back.
Calico points a claw at Blackjack, she meows with a desperate tone. I crawl to Blackjack and check him out. He snarls and I put out my hand. He stops and gives me his bad leg. Large holes line his leg, the other one's covered in blood and webs. I jump, screeching comes with the wind. Spiders? Blackjack gets up slow and giant claws come out his paws. He looks back at Calico and nods.
Calico grabs the kitten by the scruff and a spider pops out the snow. It's taller than me. How is it that big?! In only two weeks?! It rushes at Blackjack and Calico digs into my jacket. She pulls me away as I get my breath under control.
Blackjack stumbles towards it, blocks with his broken leg, then slashes it's face deep with the other. He roars and the
spider shrieks before she pulls us inside the station.
Through the station, the candles whisper, shadows cry out. 'Mom?' Flashes fill my head, dead bodies? 'We gotta go! Now!' We won't last another day, I'm sorry.' Calico drags me into a handcar. I grab a handle and halt- "Blackjack!" A horde of
baby spiders flood the station. They shoot webs as they give chase. Calico drops the kitten down in the handcar, with us.
She then pushes the bar down with all her might and I grab the bar. I can't bring myself to push it. I snap my fingers and they shriek at my flame. A spider gets close and I wave my thumb at it.

The flame flies at the spider and it catches fire. Blackjack bursts through the door and swings spiders off him. He falls
and the spiders try to crowd him.
I look at my hand, snap and sling another, right at Blackjack. I hop out the moving cart and roll off. Calico loudly meows as
I grunt and walk towards him. The flame hits him and the spiders scatter away. They charge at me and I shoot another.
Blackjack crawls towards me as I lose count. I shout and the spiders run away.
I breathe heavy as a giant spider crashes through. It charges too fast for me to react. It claws at me, but Blackjack
snarls loud, he holds the spider back with all his strength. I keep throwing fire at it's icy armor, it just isn't enough
to melt through.
I look down at my hand and the flame gets bigger the longer I will it to exist. Bigger, c'mon! Blackjack growls as he holds the
spider back. I wait until I have a ball and sling it into it's eye socket. It shrieks and ignites from the inside, it swings around and knocks Blackjack down. It crunches down on him, he goes limp. "No!"
I gasp, I hear a voice. 'Live on, Calico.'
I lose all thought as the spider turns around. I shout and my body ignites, I charge at it and jam the knife into him. The spider knocks me back and I look at the knife. My hands glow red, the knife's red hot. I shake my head as the spider
charges towards me.
I swing the knife at it and it reels back from the heat. It swings it's spiked leg and Calico meows loud. A large metal plate flies past the spider and I. The leg came off like nothing. I rush in, jam the knife in. The spider shrieks and flails. It chomps at my face. I grab it's sideways jaw and they burn by my bare hand. I pull out the knife, blood spatters everywhere as I keep stabbing it.

It finally catches fire and I jump back. It swipes at me in desperation. I duck and stab it between the eyes. This time, it's legs begin to curl up. After that, it doesn't seem to budge at all.
I walk to Blackjack and nudge him as Calico fights off the small spiders, "Come on." Again, still nothing. I clench my fists as the gas mask melts off my face- Light shines through the station's ceiling. Finally, light. Before I can actually bask in the heat, the clouds block the sun again.
I wince at my leg and march towards Calico with my head down. Poor Blackjack, why didn't he just run? Why'd they get a cart? For me? But I hurt him, Calico too. I charge towards the spiders attacking Calico and summon a small flame.
