Sect Points 5
Age: 16 years (9 Months+)
Poison vials: 1 Corrosion, 1 Concentrated, 2 Paralyses, 5 vials of snake poison, and 5 vials of Devil Pit Poison
Level: QI Formation Realm Level 8 Major stage
After one month spent in the Dark Wood the whole group returned to Sect. Everything was great for the Parasite while Vu Rai gave him the highest score and due to this he could participate in the second part of the exam. However, Zhe Li and Zhe Di had failed while they didn’t do anything against the wolf and due to this didn’t path. Zhe Fa got a passing score, but he said that he will not participate until his brother will not pass as well. Due to this Parasite was the only one from the group who registered for the second part of the exam.
Due to the fact that they were required to postpone their practice due to injuries, the second part of the exam will be held for the Parasite only after 3 more weeks if there are enough participants. Nobody knew what the exam would look like but the parasite already had some guesses that it would be related to survival in the forest.
During those 3 weeks Parasite was practising his technique more. He was concentrating on the “Blood Needle” technique which was still not ideal. Additionally he was analysing the fight which was shown by Inner Disciple. Parasite and Vu Rai had a conversation about it afterwards and Vu Rai explained that he can handle one wolf by himself. Maybe he could fight 2 wolves. But if there would be the full pack which on average consisted of 5 Black Wolfs there would be only a solution to retreat. Parasite saw that Inner Disciple was a little bit worried after the fight and Parasite had a chance to touch Inner Disciple which allowed to understand that Inner Disciple used at least a quarter of energy.
In the fight where only one wolf was present Inner Disciple was controlling the battlefield. But with 2 wolves the fight would be more intense and probably inner discipline would be required to utilise almost all energy to kill 2 wolves. Additionally, it would be hard to have a better position when several wolves can attack you. Parasite asked about the weapon which Vu Rai used, but the only answer which he got was that he will get more information when he becomes an Inner Disciple. Till that moment Inner Disciple can open this secret.

After one month surviving in the Dark Wood, Parasite obtained 5 vials of spine snake poison and 5 vials of the devil pit poison. Vu Rai has shared Devil Pit poison with Parasite while he was able to find many Devil Pits. Parasite in reality was lucky, because he found those pits not due to the emotions of Devil Pits, but due to emotions of hares which were trapped there and due to this they were able to locate more Devil Pits. This information was very valuable and due to this Inner Disciple has shared some poison with Parasite. First Parasite went to the market to pay his debt for the vials. As per their agreement he was required to pay 5 vials of spine snake poison. However, he proposed to give devil pit poison and a disciple in the market was even more glad about this and asked for only about 2 vials of devil pit poison and 1 vial of snake poison. With poison which left he went to the Alchemy Pavilion where he sold 2 more vials of devil pit poison for 4 points in total. One vial Parasite stored while he had some thoughts how it could be used. And from 4 vials of snake poison he requested to create 1 more corrosive poison and one paralysis poison. In total he gained 1 sect point while he still was required to pay 3 points to the Alchemy Pavilion.
After all this preparation was done he got to the Pavilion of Knowledge to take one book which he hadn't yet finished. In that book was written one strategy where the sect used some liquid which was emitting dense fog, through which nothing was seen. At the beginning Parasite didn’t look into that and thus skipped the chapter which was describing how that liquid was used. But now he thought that it could be useful. He found that many rags were soaked in that liquid and then they were smouldered in huge amounts which was creating that fog. Parasite thought about using this with Devil Pit poison.

He quickly came back to his house to experiment. In his house he took a bucket full of water and poured several drops of Devil Pit poison. In the book Parasite read that to achieve a strong hallucination effect a person should take around 5 drops of that poison, more could leave to die. After those drops were mixed with water Parasite began to boil it to create steam. After around 2-3 minutes when steam begins to appear Parasite begins to feel dizzy and in 5 more minutes he begins to see some hallucinations.
Parasite quickly took away the bucket from fire. This experiment has shown to him that it was a good way to use poison. But it would require a smaller amount of water or bigger amount of poison in order to achieve a stronger hallucination effect. Due to this he soaked one rag in this position for future use in battle if needed. He tried to check its effect if it would be applied to the wound. After he put a little bit of poison on the tip of the needle he pricked his left arm. In less than a minute his arm began to convulse, but it as well quickly stopped. Parasite understood that it was used by Devil Pit in order to force prey of Devil Pit to put itself on more spines to kill prey quicker.
For the whole 3 weeks he was experimenting with poison to find any new possibilities to use it and due to this time was running very fast for him.
After 3 weeks Parasite went to the registration board in order to participate in the second part of the exam. The exam has some rules in it. Disciples can’t kill other disciples or heavily injure others during the exam. If one disciple is in the situation of imminent death, judges will stop the exam and the whole team would fail the exam. Additionally, it was forbidden to use Armour or weapons on this exam. But it was allowed to use any consumables. In other words, Parasite couldn’t take armour with him to the tournament. Such conditions were as well strict while it required all cultivators to look one after another.
The gathering point was near the main gates. Parasite found that there were around 27 cultivators. 23 of them were on level 7 QI Formation realm. One of them was Ken Chi who passed the exam for the second time and was lucky to quickly get through one months of practice in the Dark wood. There was also Kim Li who already was on level 8 QI Formation realm. With Parasite in total there were 2 cultivators on level 8. And 4 more participants were on level 6. Parasite understood why there were not so many level 6 cultivators. Mostly it was due to the one month practice. Not so much level 6 practice could pass that. And from those who passed, not so many really believed that they could get through the second part of the exam.
After Parasite came the Elder Jay Vi. He announced that the exam would take place in the Dark Wood Forest. However this time the group went not the place where Parasite and three brothers had practice. They went to the left mountain which was near the Dark Sky sect. They went through one of the passages and when everybody reached the entrance they saw that in reality the mountain had inside it a forest which was separated from the Dark Wood forest. In other words, the Dark Sky sect created its own polygon where they can run the exam and check how good disciples are.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
