'Help, I lost myself again

But I remember youDon't come back, it won't end wellBut I wish you'd tell me too'

(>人<;)

I stand there, not processing what's actually happening before a picture of Ace pops into my mind and the only thing, if nothing else made sense, was that this isn't right.

Quickly, I place my hands on his chest and push him a little hoping he would get the message but he doesn't falter which might be due to my shivering hands.

"Blake, stop," I whisper, scared of what's going to happen.

Having said that, he finally freezes and his eyes return to the present snapping out of whatever was happening a second ago. He clenches his jaw before stepping away from me and cursing under his breath.

"Blak—" I begin but get cut off.

"No, you're going to leave now. I will go pack my stuff," he says, millions of emotions flashing through his eyes.

"O-Okay," I say, not wanting to add to it.

He nods, putting his hands in his pockets, and walks back to the Marshmallow's house.

(

"There you are!" I look to my right and see Robert running towards me.

"Rob, let's go," I reach for my car keys in my pockets.

"Finally decided to wait at home?" He jokes.

"No, I'm gonna pack my bag for tomorrow," stepping into the car, I tune out his arguments and drive home.

Finishing up the last of my files, I push back my chair to finally go home. Walking out of the room, I see most of the gang has dispersed already so I waste no time trying to get to my Ray of sunshine.

However, I get stopped when I see Blake picking a fight with another one of the mallows which quickly got dismissed by the other party and the fight was other before it started.

"Blake," I call him out. He calms himself down and turns towards me, hiding all emotions off his face.

"You called?" He says with a monotone voice, keeping his distant.

"You're off this case," I say, irritated. At first, he stares at me before roaring with laughter and shaking his head.

"Yeah, no."

"You're off this case, end of discussion," I put my boss face on and he scoffs.

"You can't do that," he argues.

"Oh, I can't?"

"Not without a viable reason," he hesitates on that one, careful with saying that sentence.

"You have not been yourself this entire week and I can't have less than a 100 percent on my mission. You can join us later when your mind is cleared off. You can stay with Ray, think of it as your job to protect her, which is part of the mission, just an indirect process," he looks like he is about to argue again so before he could, I continue. "No, you can't change my mind, no special treatments just because you're my right hand. Now, I would really appreciate if I could go home to my girlfriend before I go terrorize her kidnapper tomorrow."

His face looks the most conflicted I've seen it in a while, like he had to say something, but he only nods and lowers his head before walking away.

"Ray?" I yell across the house, setting my keys down and listen to the light thumps from upstairs.

"Hey," she says out of breath.

"Is Robert still here?" I ask, walking past her to set my leather jacket then pulling her in between my legs as I seat myself on the top of the couch, smoothing her hair.

"No, his boyfriend called. Apparently he set the house on fire as he was trying to prepare for their date," she laughs a bit before clarifying. "They're both okay."

"Well, you should've told me. I could've sent someone else," or you could've showed up yourself, I scold myself.

"It's okay, I did some cleaning around and didn't notice how late it got," she caresses my slight stubble across my jaw subconsciously. "How was work?"

"About that," I clear my throat. "I'll have to be gone for a couple of weeks starting tomorrow. It's a sudden mission that popped up in my schedule," I explain, but she just hums, seeming more interested in every structure of my face

"Well, I decided to start working at the Clinic again so that should help me pass time," she offers a tight smile.

"I still don't get why you can't work as my secretary. I would know where you are, it would earn you tons of money, and you'd be working for me," I plead. "Still, working back at the Clinic is a big step."

"It wouldn't work as your secretary for that reason, I wouldn't know when you are my boyfriend and when you're my boss," she teases.

"Well, we can make it work. I can be your boyfriend anywhere, you know?" I wiggle my eyes and making kissy faces while she laughs and pushes my face away in playful disgust.

"You're gross," she laughs as she finally gets out of my hold.

"Only for you," I chuckle as I look at her, thinking I would kill anyone that would think about hurting a hair on her body.

"I'm going to head to bed, you have a long day tomorrow," she smiles.

"Straight to bed? No fun," I pout.

"You're going to need the energy for tomorrow."

"I would be more energized if-" Before finishing, she puts her hand in front of me, shaking her head.

"You need Jesus," she sighs, looking at me with amusement before continuing. "But we both need sleep. Wake me up before you leave tomorrow and maybe we'll see what happens then," she sends me a wink and walks away swaying her hips on purpose.

I just sit there thinking about how much I love her.

Once I reached the room, I release a huge breath and stare at the backpack I stuffed everything into for tomorrow. I already installed a tracking chip into more than one of the Mallows' bags getting ready for tomorrow.

I sit on the edge of the bed before I hear Ace come up the stairs and quickly push the backpack underneath the bed, setting the alarm for early in the morning. I already booked a flight to Australia, which I found out from Jerry.

So the only thing I could think of laying on my bed, which I was avoiding, was how to face Blake ever again without guilt eating me alive. Pushing all thoughts about the actual mission, facing Antonio again, lying to Ace, and Blake into the back of my head, I turn off the lamp that's beside me leaving Ace's side on for when he finishes changing.

After a couple of minutes, I feel the bed dip and a kiss on my neck, his face making itself comfortable there and his hands circle my waist after he's turned off the lights.

"Goodnight," he whispers but I lay there, wide awake, thinking of what I promised myself I would figure out later.

We have reached around 100K reads and 3K votes which blows my mind. Also, more of you have been commenting which warms my heart more than anything because it shows that I've been writing these chapters for actual people and I'm not just going crazy, even if most my chapters are cringey (which there will be a major edit sometime in the near future). Anyway, thank you all thousands of times for reading this story. The next update will be in two days or so since I'll be busy for a couple of days.
