Last night took hours to get my temperature back to normal, it took even longer because i was such a mess trying to explain to Rose everything while Ace kept calling me and leaving messages.
"Come on, sulking over him won't do anything," Rose lays on top of me as I try to push her off to let me sleep more.
"It doesn't matter, I've read stories about this-"
"Since when do you read?"
"Not the point. Anyway, it's what couples do. I'm supposed to forgive him when he comes knocking on the door desperately. I'm sure he has a reason, he's not like the others. I promise you he isn't, he cares about me. I know he does, i just wanna know the reason," i bite my nails thinking.
"Sometimes you're too understanding and it's annoying, truly it is," Rose finally gets off the bed allowing me to breathe. "It's also not what it sounded like yesterday when you were a sobbing mess!"
"I'm going to get some coffee," I get dressed in quick sweatpants Rose has and a mickey sweater.
As I'm getting milk and some other groceries, I hear screaming and gun shots aimed at the air. Uh-uh this isn't happening today.
"EVERYBODY GET DOWN," a masked man screams while he's on top of the register.
Oh great, suppose this is my last day and I'm mad at Ace? Hell nah.
I open my phone to play some games while I'm waiting for them to leave as I'm hiding behind a food stance.
"Hey, you calling the cops?" A man hovers over me.

"No sir," I force myself to not stutter.
"Give me your phone," he demands.
"With all due respect, I don't have a phone. This is my friend's and she would really kill me if I gave it to you. So if my two options is getting killed by you or her, I'm more terrified of her really," I whisper my rant mockingly.
Suddenly, I feel a sharp pain in my shoulder followed by screaming. The bullet didn't seem to go that deep, more like it scraped the skin off my shoulder.
"Dude, you can't even shut her up?" The guy who shot me says to the guy that was talking to me.
Minutes later, they all leave with the money and the customers all just run out of the place except some that didn't look bothered.
"Miss, we need to get you-"
I cut the man off. "I came here for groceries and had to look for them since I'm not from this area. So you're gonna help pay for them, okay?"
Now, I'm not that brave. But I am great at denial. So any part that hurts, I just numb it out and repeat that it's just a scratch and that I've been through worse.
As I'm walking back to Rose's, I hear her from outside telling someone to get lost. When I see Ace looking like a sleepless mess, I don't really react since I'm too occupied with my shoulder bleeding out.
"And I said, you need to leave before she com- oh. OH. Ray, what happened!?" She runs toward me while Ace's face turns ice cold.
"There was kind of a robbery and I played on your phone because I was bored. When they asked for it, I didn't want you to be mad that I lost it so they kind of shot me," I say in a humorous tone.

"Did you see their faces?" Ace asks but I ignore him. "Ray, did you-"
"So can you help me fix this up Rose?" I walk into the house looking for first aid kit.
"I'm so sorry Ray, I really am," As follows. "I was supposed to lure her into a trap for the gang then she kissed me and you saw literally the very beginning of it. I was going to pus-"
"How about you keep your excuses?" Rose glares at him.
When I look up to meet his defeated face, I sigh and usher Rose out of the room.
"It doesn't matter. You want me to forgive you so sure," I shrug talking in a monotone.
"No, you don't. I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry. I'll tell them to kill her slowly if you want," he pleads.
"It's fine Ace, you made a mistake. We're human," I roll my eyes as I'm cleaning the wound.
"Ray, it was only for a job, just fo-"
"ACE," i snap glaring at him. "You invited me to the party, I didn't want to go. You left me all alone. You were the one that made me hypothermic. You were the one that cheated and now you are making excuses."
When he doesn't reply, I rub my face with my hand and groan from exhaustion.
"I'm bleeding out and this is really not the time to be having this conversation."
"If there's anything I can do," he begins.
"Yes, go home. I'll stay with Rose for a couple of days," I say not looking at him.
As he's walking away, i say. "Ace, i just want to know, was it worth it?"
"No, and I wish I could go torture myself slowly if I thought that would make you feel better," he answers instantly.

This novella is in it's first draft so if it's a bit rough around the edges that's why. I just want to get some feedback on it as well as what's working. Each chapter can be very stylistically different from each other as a means of separating the different months that each chapter takes place to better put the reader into the headspace of Arthur.
