'Tell me how many more times

Does it take to get smaller

Don't need to deny the hurt and the lies

And all of the things you did to me'

It's been around two months since I've been living with Ace, and we've gotten pretty close in my opinion.

However, he's usually not home when I go to sleep or when I wake up. He does leave a driver to drive me to wherever I need but I basically never use it because i feel like a burden.

The people at school have not been the nicest about my and Ace's friendship, but I would never tell Ace that since I'm sure he'll kill them, literally.

My foster parents still have showed no sign of showing back up which freaks me out, but Ace is always there to tell me he wouldn't let anyone touch me.

This week I convinced my teachers to let me stay home and do everything online since it's mostly paperwork that doesn't need explanation to me then we go to testing. My university has the longest winter break to man kid and I love it.

However, it's still Saturday and my classes start Monday so right now I'm staring at the ceiling wondering what to do after I've finished cleaning the entire mansion.

As if on cue, I hear the front door getting opened, which takes a while thanks to all the security measures Ace added in, and rush down from the fourth floor.

"Ray?" Ace yells into the house like usual.

"I'm here, I'm here!" I say running down the stairs and tripping mid way causing me to shriek.

However, as usual, Ace catches me before I do any damage to myself and smiles down at me. I look up nervously and catch my breath for a second before saying, "Welcome home," with the biggest smile.

It's become a routine for what's happened above to happen everyday.

"I'm home bird," he ruffles my hair and proceeds to take his jacket off while I go heat up some leftover chicken from yesterday.

"How was your day working?" I turn on the stove deciding to make some soup with the meal.

I suddenly feel a hand from behind tugging my waist closer gently, and Ace's face goes into my neck. He breathes in and exhales, causing some goosebumps to show on my arm.

"It was like the usual, boring," his breath tickling my neck but I only hum in response. "What are you making for me?"

"Some of your favorite soup that will stink up your clothes, go change!" I shoo him away, while he laughs and goes to change.

When we sat down for linner, lunch and dinner, we started talking about our day and laughing at silly things. That makes me wonder if we're really just friends. Do friends back hug? Do what we do? Am I confused just because we're the opposite gender?

"Earth to the blue bird?" Ace waves his hand in front of my face. "There she is, what were you thinking about with that frown on your face?"

I take a moment to think about my question, but it still sounds generic.

"Are we friends?"

"Of course, why would you think we're not?"

"No I mean, are we just friends? Do friends cause others to have goosebumps and the heart to beat a little faster?" When i ask that, Ace stops chewing on his sandwich and clears his throat looking surprised.

"Do you want us to be more than just friends?" He asks carefully.

"I don't know Ace, I don't know anything of what's happening. The only friend I have is Rose and she doesn't make me feel like I'm on cloud 9! I was raised isolated from any male contact but my father, who beat me up so it doesn't really count!" I say all in one breath.

"Okay, just, uhm, calm down there," he scratches the back of his head trying to figure out what to say.

"You can take your time, im gonna go wash the dishes," I say irritated at my own emotions and storm to the kitchen with some plates.

Feeling suddenly dizzy, I put the plates down and quickly sit myself on the floor. I don't know how long I was there, but I start hearing footsteps approach.

"Why were you on the floor? Are you okay?" Ace comes in with the rest of the dishes.

"Peachy," he gives me the look that says I know better than believe a bad lie. "I already told you that I don't have the best heart. It's messed up dude, too much emotion causes me to have random symptoms."

"Shouldn't we go check it out?"

"Already did when I was younger, it's not cancerous or anything dangerous as long as I don't cause stress on it. Which is fine considering I'm the shy girl that doesn't like trouble," I say truthfully.

My first foster parents are the ones that noticed something with it. I guess it's because I was thrown out in the cold for months, or maybe it's genetics. I don't know for sure.

"Well, about what we were just talking about. I really like like you Ray. Not just as a friend, but I also don't want to rush you into anything. I've liked you for a while now, I really like you. Which is something not good considering what I work with and who I am, but I can't stop feeling what I feel," his eyes looked as confused as what I felt.

Just as I'm about to answer him, his phone starts to ring. He takes it out cursing and walking out of the kitchen, leaving me standing as confused as ever.
