《Cheat List || Taekook》Chapter 41

Deep breaths. That's all that Taehyung was taking right now. The grey haired boy was waiting backstage at the moment while listening to one of the other competitors, Rosé, sing flawlessly. With every beautiful sound that left the girl's mouth shivers ran down Taehyung's spine. Ohh how damn guilty he felt for her if they both managed to make it to the next round.
Rosé was in the same team as Taehyung, which meant that if the both of them managed to get enough votes from the public then Jungkook was going to have to pick either one of them in the next round to represent his team in the finale. However what the other contestants didn't know was that they didn't stand a chance against a certain grey haired boy, for their coach already picked his favourite. There was no way Jungkook wouldn't choose his own boyfriend over any of the members of his team. Whoever Taehyung was competing against, they didn't stand a chance even if they were better at singing and performing.
Deep down Taehyung knew damn well that this wasn't fair and he felt extremely guilty to all the members of Jungkook's team. No matter how hard they worked, if Taehyung managed to reach the next round then all their work would have been in vain.
The grey haired boy softly closed his eyes as he shook his head lightly. This wasn't the time to feel guilty. Jungkook had tried to convince him a million times already that even if the two of them weren't in a relationship then he still would have picked him, no matter what. According to the brunette, Taehyung's voice was the most unique out of all of them. Even though the grey haired boy had never once believed his boyfriend he sighed softly while opening his eyes again. If he wanted to perform well tonight he should let go of his worries for the next round.
The fact that Jungkook and Taehyung were boyfriends now instantly made the grey haired boy feel a lot better and instantly a smile began to form onto his face. What Taehyung had thought would be impossible had become reality and he loved every single minute he got to spend with Jungkook. The two of them were meant for each other.
It didn't take long before the final note of Rosé's song infiltrated Taehyung's ears and the grey haired boy inhaled sharply as he felt himself become slightly nervous. Tonight he'd sing a song he had been practicing a lot. A song that summed up his past relationship perfectly. A song that would finally let Taehyung get the closure he so desperately craved for. Finally he could let out everything he had been wanting to say but never did.
To Taehyung it didn't matter if Bogum was watching him tonight or not. He didn't even care if the older male saw the song he was going to sing about their relationship. The only thing Taehyung cared about was finally closing it all off for himself tonight and by singing this song on national television, he'd be able to do so. Finally Taehyung would cut off the very last string that was holding him back from giving himself completely to Jungkook and everyone here was allowed to watch him do it. Everyone was allowed to hear his story, Taehyung didn't care. The only thing the grey haired boy cared about was the ending and by the looks of it, it would be a great one. One together with Jungkook.
"Thank you Rosé!" Hoseok's voice sounded through the microphone and while the host of the competition was stirring up a small conversation with the shorter girl Taehyung walked a bit forward in order to take a peek at the stage. The first thing the singer saw was Rosé. The girl had decided to dye her hair into a warm pink shade and according to Taehyung it suited her really well. The producers of the show had advised the petite girl in order to stand out more to do this and while Taehyung had always thought she was very unique he could see were the producers were coming from. None of them were artists yet and if they wanted the big audience of the voice to really see them they had to be the best versions of themselves. Room for mistakes wasn't possible.

It didn't take long before the freshly dyed pink haired girl skipped of the stage and crossed Taehyung, who was still hiding. "Goodluck Taehyungie! Show them what you can do." Rosé immediately dashed forward and engulfed Taehyung into a hug while wishing him goodluck. Rosé was the girl who always saw the good in everyone. It didn't matter to her that Taehyung was her direct opponent in this competition, she was there for the experience and fun of it all. She wanted everyone to have a great time and if that involved her losing the competition then so be it.
"Thank you Rosé." The grey haired boy spoke as the much smaller girl unwrapped her arms around him and send him a bright smile. Immediately the feelings of guilt returned again and Taehyung quickly broke the eye contact. He liked Rosé a lot and he didn't want her to get kicked out of the competition because of him. He wanted to experience every single round of the voice with her right next to him. It really was though luck that the both of them had chosen the same team.
"And next up is the one who manages to capture all our hearts everytime he opens his mouth! Make it up for Taehyung!" Hoseok's voice sounded through the microphone and immediately Taehyung took in a deep breath of air before encouraging himself a bit more and walking onto the podium. The bright lights immediately blinded the grey haired boy a little once he stepped out on the stage but he managed to quickly reach Hoseok.
The first thing Taehyung noticed when he finally reached the place where Hoseok was standing was Jungkook. The handsome brunette was looking at every step his boyfriend made with adoration in his eyes and a proud look displayed on his face. Taehyung's eyes immediately locked themselves with his boyfriend's beautiful brown orbs and a small smile slowy began to make it's way onto Taehyung's face. Ohh he wanted nothing more but to just jump of that stage and into Jungkook's arms.
"Tonight Taehyung will sing a song which is practically made for him. Everyone give it up for Taehyung with Lose you to love me!" Hoseok announced as soon as Taehyung had finally reached the place where he was standing before quickly getting of the stage himself.
All lights dimmed themselves and Taehyung took one last deep breath before he scanned his eyes through the audience briefly. The grey haired boy couldn't make out any individual person in the crowd due to the lights shining up from the edge of the stage and he closed his eyes briefly before speaking some encouraging words to himself.
It didn't take long before the entire audience went completely silent and the first note of the song hit Taehyung's ears. The grey haired boy took another deep breath before finally singing the song he had been practicing for weeks now. This was it. This song decribed everything he felt for his ex perfectly well. Not once had the singer related to a song as much as he related to every word he was about to sing.
You promised the world and I fell for it
Taehyung opened his eyes after the first line had left his lips. He wasn't afraid. Sure he still was really nervous whenever he had to sing in front of a lot of people. However, Taehyung wasn't afraid of Bogum anymore. He had chosen himself over his toxic ex and he'd shown him that he had no power over Taehyung anymore. The grey haired boy would no longer close his eyes or listen to any of the words leaving the elder's mouth. Tonight after the singer had sang his song Bogum would be a closed chapter for him.

I put you first and you adored it
A serious look could be spotted on Taehyung's face with every note that left his lips. He had promised himself to let it all out tonight. He needed this one last song for the closure he so desperately craved for. He needed to sing this song in order to give himself fully to Jungkook.
Set fires to my forest
Jungkook. The one who had made Taehyung's life so much beter. The idol who had proven that not everyone who gained fame became rude and arrogant too. The brunette was just your average boy who cared a little too much for others. He just happened to be famous too. Other than that he was as normal as anyone else.
And you let it burn
To Taehyung that was definitely the one thing he admired Jungkook for. His ability to stay as normal as possible. Sure he had a lot of money and he definitely couldn't walk the streets of Seoul without being recognised by his fans. However he treated everyone he met as his equals and he always was thankfull for the support his fans gave him. Jungkook saw himself on the same level as anyone else.
Sang off-key in my chorus
Some might say Taehyung moved on too quickly. He had broken up with his ex and not even a month later he had already gotten into a new relationship. The grey haired boy himself however thought differently about that fact. Ever since he had first met Jungkook the younger had managed to catch his eyes. In the months after the two of them had grown incredibly close and while Taehyung had still been in a relationship back when the first feelings for each other began to develop that didn't hold any of the two back. Taehyung hadn't realised it at the time but he had already began to feel less and less for Bogum as soon as Jungkook and he started to feel something for each other. Bogum cheating had just been the final stray Taehyung had needed to let go of the last feelings he had for Bogum.
'Cause it wasn't yours
Taehyung looked into the audience and immediately his eyes began to search for a familiar brunette. The younger could be easily spotted among the rest of the crowd, seeing as he was sitting in a big red chair along with the other coaches sitting right next to him.
I saw the signs and I ignored it
Jungkook was looking at Taehyung with a proud look on his face. The grey haired boy had chosen to sing this song himself and while Jungkook had first been a bit against the whole idea since it took a lot of courage to do something like this on national television Taehyung had been quick to convince him that he was more than ready for it.
Rose-colored glasses all distorted
And boy was he ready for it. Never before had Taehyung stood on the stage so confidently as he was doing now. Every note that left his lips was spot on and the light made the boy's silver hair shimmer slightly, adding just that little extra to his performance to make it even more powerfull.
Set fire to my purpose
And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin'
When it wasn't yours, yeah
We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
I gave my all and they all know it
You turned me down and now it's showing
In two months, you replaced us
Like it was easy
Made me think I deserved it
In the thick of healing, yeah
We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now the chapter is closed and done
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now it's goodbye, it's goodbye for us
The rest of the song went by in the blink of an eye and as soon as that last final note left Taehyung's mouth immediately loud cheers and whistles errupted from the audience and a big smile broke out on the singer's face. He had done it. He had managed to wing this performance.
Taehyung slowly began to truly look around the audience while the bigger lights were turned on again now that his performance was done. The whole audience, including the judges were standing while clapping. Both Yoongi and Jungkook looked at Taehyung with proud looks on their faces and the singer slowly let out a breath of relief. He hadn't fucked this up and he was glad he had done everything exactly how he planned to do it.
"I must say Taehyung. You truly are something. This was amazing!" Hoseok exclaimed excitedly while he walked up to stand next to Taehyung, a mic in his hand and his happy smile present on his face. Taehyung smiled back at the older and thanked him briefly.
"You surely must be the proudest coach in existence, right Jungkook?" Hoseok then spoke in his mic, trying to get a reaction out of Taehyung's coach for the people watching at home. Jungkook immediately began to nod before he stood up and locked eyes with Taehyung. "You know Tae, when I first heard you sing I knew you were special. Your voice is incredible and your appearance is everything an idol needs. However..." the brunette spoke before smiling slightly "You did have some difficulties with performing for large audiences though and I was a bit sketchy at first when you told me you wanted to sing this song tonight due to some recent events in your personal life. However the moment you stepped on that stage you immediately proved me to have been worrying about absolutely nothing. You owned this performance Taehyung. Never before have I seen you do what you did today. You were confident and I feel blessed more and more everyday that you have chosen me as your coach." Jungkook spoke, sincerety clearly lacing his voice and a look which could only be described as pure admiration visible on his face.
Taehyung swallowed deeply at the words that had left his boyfriend's mouth. They were so sweet and so supporting. Thr grey haired boy smiled slightly before he slowly felt his eyes tear up a little. No one else except for a few people knew what was going on between the two of them and to Taehyung these words weren't just some empty words spoken from a coach to his team member. These were words spoken from one lover to the other.
"Yeah yeah, rub it in will you." Yoongi suddenly added as he crossed his arms in front of his chest, a playfull look visible on his face. "I'm still salty about Taehyung picking you instead of me." The mint haired rapper said as he smirked slightly towards Taehyung, clearly teasing both him and Jungkook.
A small laugh left Taehyung's mouth and Hoseok quickly took over again, a hint of amusement on his face too. "If you all want to see Yoongi suffer some more about Taehyung not picking him please vote for Taehyung! He needs every vote tonight in order to go through to the next round!" The presentor spoke and immediately the whole audience started to laugh as Yoongi sank a bit further in his chair while laughing as well, knowing he called this one upon himself.
After Hoseok telling the people at home that they should vote for Taehyung and telling them exactly how they would be able to do so Taehyung quickly got of the stage, only to be met with Rosé who had been waiting for him all the time while he had been performing. "YOU WERE AWESOME!" The pretty girl exclaimed as soon as Taehyung was off the stage. She immediately ran up to him and gave him another big hug. Taehyung smiled softly as he hugged the petite girl back while thanking her for the compliment.
Immediatley the feeling of guilt returned again and Taehyung tightened his grip around the girl he was hugging slightly. It wasn't fair that if both of them made it through the next round she would be the one to lose instead of him. Taehyung had already won in his eyes. He had managed to get such a sweet and caring boyfriend as Jungkook while Rosé hadn't gotten anything yet. She dreamt of becoming an idol and it would be completely shattered because of Taehyung. Because he was in love with their coach.
it didn't take long before all contestants got called back to the stage and Hoseok announced everyone that had made it to the next round. Not really surprisingly both Taehyung and Rosé made it and while the grey haired boh truly was happy that the public had given him enough votes to not go home yet he did feel guilty too. Guilty for what was going to happen next round. Ohh how he wished both him and Rosé could somehow just go to the finale together. Unfortunately, that's not something the rules of this competition would allow to happen.

8 168Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
