《Cheat List || Taekook》Chapter 10

"Are you nervous?" Jinyoung asked as he looked at the uneasy look on Taehyung's face. The both of them were patiently waiting in the room Jungkook had told them to go to and the only thing that had been roaming the grey haired boy's mind had been Jungkook's touch. The brunette was without a doubt the definition of perfect and the idol probably had no idea what even the smallest bit of attention could do to someone like Taehyung.
People tend to always really look up to celebrities. The fact that they have a lot of people admiring them and that they usually are so full of talent is what attracts people to them. This too was the case for Taehyung. The grey haired boy knew damn well that Jungkook wasn't someone he would ever be able to become friends with, however the grey haired boy couldn't help but long for exactly that. Something about Jungkook just pulled Taehyung towards him.
Suddenly however Jinyoung began to softly shake Taehyung's shoulder to pull the boy out of his thoughts and immediately the grey haired boy softly began to shake his head while a crimson color began to decorate his cheeks. "A bit." Taehyung answered his battle partner while smiling sheepishly at him.
Jinyoung softly nodded before a friendly smile formed onto the other boy's face. "I am too. The fact that millions of people are going to watch us on tv is nerve wrecking to me." The older boy admitted in a soft tone. A hint of nervousness could be spotted on the black haired boy's face. However as soon as it appeared it vanished again and once again a beautiful smile appeared on his face.
Softly Taehyung nodded in a understanding way while diverting his eyes somewhere else. He obviously understood what it was that Jinyoung was talking about. However that was not the reason why Taehyung himself was nervous at all. The grey haired boy didn't care at all about the fact that some strangers would watch him sing on tv. The fact that Jungkook would be the one who was going to come into this room any minute now was what made him nervous.
As if on cue suddenly the door to the room both contestants where sitting in opened by non other than their coach himself. Jungkook was smiling brightly at the two boys and even though he was the youngest of the three he just radiated confidence. This boy knew what he came to do, that was as clear as crystal.
Within a few seconds the ravenette took place on a green velvet chair in front of Jinyoung and Taehyung before placing both his elbows on his knees and placing his head in his hands. A smile was complimenting the boy's outstanding looks and he tilted his head a bit to the sight before the idol began to talk. "Okay let's not waste any time. I've paired you both together because you two seem to both have a really unique voice." Jungkook spoke before he lifted his head from his hands and pointed at the table in between himself and his two contestants.

Immediately Taehyung looked down at the table and noticed a set of papers for both him and Jinyoung. The grey haired boy quickly picked it up before he began to scan the words written on the white papers. A small smile began to form on the student's face as he realized that these were the lyrics to the song Jungkook had chosen for them. On Taehyung's paper certain parts of the song were underlined while other parts were not.
"The underlined parts are the lyrics you are supposed to sing. Whatever isn't underlined is your opponent's part. Do you both understand?" Jungkook asked both boys in front of him and he smiled a bit brighter the moment both of the boys nodded their heads while a understanding look was visible on their faces.
"Perfect. Then let's get to the singing part already." Jungkook spoke before he shifted a bit in his seat and looked at the two in front of him with an expecting look on his face. "Can you both just sing the song for me once? I will give you tips after." The coach spoke and immediately both boys nodded before they stood up.
According to Taehyung singing was much easier while standing up. Somehow the boy's voice cooporated way better while he was standing and thus the grey haired boy was glad that Jinyoung had done the exact same thing as he had done. After all, this was a competition and while the student did like Jinyoung and wished him nothing less than the best of luck, one of them was going to loose the battle while the other would go to the next round. If it already looked like Jinyoung could sing much easier than Taehyung could then he was doomed to loose this battle and that was something the grey haired boy absolutely didn't want.
Jinyoung was the one who was given the first part of the song and thus the moment when the older boy began to sing Taehyung immediately focused on the lyrics on his piece of paper and before he knew it he began to sing while giving it his all. This might not be the real battle yet but if the grey haired boy didn't always give it his all then he would never be able to forgive himself if he lost the battle. He wanted this more than anything and the boy would make sure Jungkook would see that as well.
Both Jinyoung and Taehyung clearly tried their best to make the song sound as good as possible and when they were done Jungkook softly began to clap in his hands while looking at his two team members with a sparkle in his eyes. "That was amazing, both of you!" The brunette complimented the two and immediately Taehyung's heart skipped a beat. He definitely was a sucker for praises, especially if they came from Jungkook himself.

However suddenly Jungkook looked into Taehyung's direction and locked eyes with the older boy. "Taehyung, your voice is very low and unique and I also think you have a lot of potential. However I can hear that you are playing it on the safe side right now. Next time you sing the song, can you sing this part as high as you can?" Jungkook spoke to the grey haired boy before leaning over to his paper and pointing at a certain part of the song.
Immediately Taehyung began to nod his head while a soft red blush became visible on his face. Singing high was a risk for him since his voice was so low. Of course Taehyung could hit those notes perfectly well but it did cost him a lot of effort and besides, if they went wrong then he would embarrass himself so much.
Jungkook then turned towards Jinyoung before he pointed to a certain part of the song on his paper as well. "Your timing was off here, you need to work on that. Also I think you can go a bit higher too. Can you try that next time?" Jungkook spoke and immediately a small smile formed onto Jinyoung's face before he nodded enthusaistically.
Before both boys knew it they were again singing the same song while Jungkook was listening carefully to every sound that left their mouths. Both contestants did their absolute best and before they knew it they were done again.
Jungkook looked at both boys before he slowly began to stand up and clap in his hands. "This was so much better than the last time!" The brunette spoke before he once again looked at Taehyung. "You however are still holding back, I can hear it in your voice. Why?" The idol then asked while looking at Taehyung with a questioning look on his face.
Immediately Taehyung's heart began to beat a bit faster and his eyes grew big. Jungkook was right, as much as the grey haired boy wanted to go as high as he could he didn't dare to do it. He was too afraid to make a mistake in front of his coach and he didn't want to embarrass himself.
However Jungkook immediately noticed it when Taehyung's eyes grew big and within a second he was standing right next to Taehyung while a smirk was visible on his face. "Forget about the song for a second okay? I'm curious how high you can actually go. Can you show me?" The brunette spoke before looking at the boy next to him with a expectant look on his face.
Nervousness began to form into Taehyung's chest quickly and he closed his eyes briefly before he took a deep breath and once again began to sing a certain note in a high pitched voice. However suddenly Jungkook placed a hand on the older boy's shoulder before he began to encourage him more. "Higher Taehyung." The brunette spoke and immediately the grey haired boy complied and began to sing ever higher.
"Come on this isn't your highest." Jungkook once again spoke while the smirk on his face was increasing big time. Truth be told the idol had no freaking idea what Taehyung's highest was but he knew judging from the looks on the boy's face that he needed some encouragement in order to let his fear go and give it his all without his insecurities getting the best of him. The fact that the grey haired boy was in fact hitting the note spot on was just amazing.
Soon Taehyung stopped singing before he gasped for air. The boy had truly given it his all this time and now he was completely out of breath, as if he had just run a mile or two. however as soon as the grey haired boy catched his breath again he looked to his side only to be met with a smirking Jungkook.
Jungkook softly squeezed the boy's shoulder while he send a wink his way. "Well done, that was amazing." He softly spoke before he walked back to the chair he was previously sitting on. Taehyung slowly sat down on the bench Jinyoung was sitting on too while he looked at Jungkook with big eyes. Not only had his idol given him another compliment, Jungkook had also winked at Taehyung.
"I want you both to practice a few times this week. I'll send you both the times and place. For now you can keep practicing in this room and Namjoon will shortly join you both. I have to go now to the next couple on my list." Jungkook smiled brightly before he stood up and looked at Taehyung one last time while his smile increased a bit. After he walked out the door and the grey haired boy smiled softly.
Jungkook pushed him to his absolute limit and that was exactly what the grey haired boy needed. Taehyung needed someone to believe in him more than he did himself. That was exactly what Jungkook was doing.

8 98Quantum Worlds (A LitRPG dark fantasy)
Find the missing VIP in an illegal game world. Kill the monsters. Return home for the paycheck. Decorated Marine commander, Damon Williams, never thought his latest mission would take place in a full-immersion world fighting monsters… but when a high-value VIP disappears after being stealthily transported to a banned MMORPG, he's their only hope. Damon must lead a group of rescuers into an unforgiving world infested with terrifying monsters and worse. Pain is real. Death is permanent. He and his crew must adapt quickly, trust each other, and fight to survive. And if all that's not bad enough, they'll also have to race against time to avoid the realm’s disintegration and mutation effects. Quantum Worlds features race and class designations, unique creatures, dungeon crawling, level progression and Easter eggs that reference video games and pop culture. This a dark fantasy, but it also has sprinklings of humor throughout. It is a multi-cast, multi-pov story. In many ways, it is a melding of one of my favorite novels, “The Stand”, with my favourite genre, LitRPG. I don’t espouse to be anywhere near Stephen King, but I would like to think that I have succeeded in many areas here (you’ll be the judge of that). So, this thriller-style story has a lot of build-up and lots of drama. When it hits the 100-page mark, it starts to take off with some intense action and fight scenes (although there are battles long before that). Nothing comes easy for this group of rescuers. And the dangers are very real. This saga is already over 100 chapters with more to come. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your reviews, comments, and feedback. Thanks. Chapters are uploaded every day at noon ET. Please do not repost this work anywhere without my written permission. Quantum Worlds is a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge.
