"hey yuna" jake spoke as he reached her in the library where he was, for once, studying for her tests

"hello jake" she smiled. he took a seat next to her, leaning back in the chair, "do you need to study as well?"

"actually no. i just wanted to accompany you" jake responded

"thank you for doing so" she chuckled

the two were in silence for a second before jake asked a question, "..are you doing anything tonight yuna?"

"uhm i'm going on a date with heeseung but that's it" yuna responded, "why?"

"ah nothing. i was just curious as to what you were doing" jake replied, finally accepting his decision of just letting go of his feelings

"are you doing anything?" yuna asked him as she continued to study and take notes

"probably not. sunghoon has ice-skating and soovin is going straight home to study as well so i'm just going home and relax" jake said as yuna nodded at this.

silence engulfed the two again as jake just browsed through his phone and yuna continued her work.

a few hours ending up passing by and jake had passed out.

yuna was going to wake him up about an hour into him sleeping but she decided to just let him do so, he was tired and probably needed to sleep knowing how much that boy does not sleep.

yuna began packing up her stuff, getting ready to leave.

she put all of her stuff in her backpack before poking jake's shoulder, "yah jake. let's go"

jake's eyes stayed closed, his face looking at yuna's. yuna tilted her head at the boy before letting out a soft smile. she softly patted his head to which woke up jake.

she removed her hand and stood up straight, "you passed out jake" she chuckled lightly, "now let's get going alright?"

jake adjusted his eyes to the light before processing what yuna said.

he grabbed his bag and stood up before the two left the library to walk home

the two began walking home in silence, the two not saying much. yuna took out her phone and her airpods before pulling one out and offering the other one to jake.

he took the airpod before putting it into the respective ear. she did the same before putting on a random song from her playlist and the two listened to it, still not saying much.

their hands brushed against each other and jake fought the urge to just grab her hand into his.

yuna's heart raced tremendously at this, it was such a simple thing yet made her heart beat faster than usual, most likely because it was with jake

yuna already knew how her date with heeseung was going to end just from this

it was 8 pm, jake was at home in his room attempting to do some of his studies but yuna kept flooding his thought

"getting rid of feelings isn't as easy as saying it huh.." jake muttered to himself before throwing his head onto his textbooks, "if i had just..realized.."

jake knew if his life was a book then everyone reading it would be calling him stupid for not realizing his feelings sooner but he just felt like everything in his life made him too busy for a girlfriend but if it was for yuna, he realized, he was willing to make time for her no matter what.

he liked her more than he had originally thought. he thought his feelings were just something that he had because the two were friends for so long but he doesn't just like her because the two were friends for basically 10 years.

he loves everything about the girl. he loves her ambition, her personality, and everything else that makes yuna, yuna. everything reminded him of her and the thought of yuna being in pain, upset, angry, or hurt made him upset because he wanted yuna to be happy and well. that's all her wanted for her.

heeseung and yuna were currently at a cafe, just spending time together.

while they were happy, this date simply felt like a hangout between friends or rather, an unrequited feelings date.

heeseung could tell that some of the actions he used to do to yuna that made her ears red no longer did so. she was already out of the feelings for him.

while his brain was telling him it was okay, his heart felt different. he wanted to hate jake for making the girl he like not like him but it wasn't jake or yuna's fault. they had known each other much longer so he was not to blame either of them.

yuna felt bad but she knew her heart no longer felt the same. she knew it looked bad. it looked as if she just used heeseung to get over her feelings for jake which she never intended to do because at first, she really did like him when jake was with soovin but now, everything came crashing back onto her.

heeseung was a nice guy and someone she would just like to stay friends with. she couldn't see herself with him.

'i like jake' yuna's mind spoke, 'i like jake'

yuna let out a sigh before she finally began to talk, "heeseung...can i-"

"you still like jake right?" he cut her off, already knowing what she was going to say. he had known even when asking her on the date

"how'd you-" she didn't even know why she began asking that question when that was the reason they were on this date, to figure out if she liked jake still or not and prior to the date, she had already known her answer and in the back of heeseung's mind, he knew it also

he cut her off again, "he's your childhood friend and crush. i think that says enough" he chuckled lightly

"i'm really sorry heeseung..i really wanted it to work between us but.."

"hey don't worry about it" he laughed, "jake's a good guy so i won't be that mad about it. also he's my best friend so..but anyways, you should be happy and i can tell that you're definitely happy with jake"

yuna smiled,, "thank you"

"don't worry about it" heeseung responded, "now don't let him go this time"

jake was disturbed from his studies when he heard a loud knock on the door. his parents were out on a date so he was home alone.

jake left his room and walked to the front door, "who the hell-" he stopped talking when he saw who was at the there side, "y-yuna..uh"

"hey jake" she smiled nervously, "can i talk to you?"

"sure" he allowed her to come in and she did so

he closed the door and looked at her, the two standing in the foyer of his house, "do you want something to drink or-"

"i broke it off with heeseung" she cut him off, getting straight to the point and clenching on her phone tightly from nervousness

"really?!" he spoke a little too happily and cleared his throat quickly, "i mean..really? why? you seemed to like him a lot. he seemed to like you a lot too"

"i do..he's a great guy..he's nice, treats me nice and he's just everything a girl could want" she spoke

"why don't you just dig a knife through my heart.." jake muttered to himself

"but he's missing one thing" she spoke and jake rose an eyebrow. she looked at him, a grin on her face appearing, "he's not you"

jake widened his eyes, not knowing how to respond

"heeseung is a great guy and i liked hanging out with him but despite that..i realized that i'm not over you and that i still like you jake."

"y-you..still do?"

she nodded and took a few steps closer, "i like everything about you jake. your stupid jokes, your stupid face, your stupid voice when you speak english that makes me go crazy, your stupid personality that makes me like you even more" jake chuckled, "no one can make me feel as crazy as you do. i like you jake"

"god damn it" jake hugged the girl tightly, "i like you too yuna"

yuna chuckled, holding onto him tightly wanting to cry but she held it in because she shouldn't be crying at a time like this

"i'm so sorry you had to go through all those emotions because of me being stupid on how i feel. you don't know how jealous i was because of heeseung" he began, not letting go of the girl, "i told myself that i never had time for a girlfriend because i was so busy but i realized that for you, i'd be willing to let go of anything just to be with you. i'll be at every track meet for you, i'll be there with you for every moment of your life..i want to be the one next to you no matter what because i like you"

the two finally pulled away, yuna refusing to cry and held back her tears still. she laughed lightly before speaking, "so is it possible if..we can start..you know.."

"no..actually i don't know, please enlighten me" jake joked with her and she rolled her eyes, smacking his shoulder

"you know what i mean!"

"yuna" he started, holding onto her hands tightly "will you be my girlfriend?"

she was silent for a second before leaning up and kissing his lips quickly before pulling away, "yes. i want to be your girlfriend"

jake stood there in a shock for a little before grinning and pulling her in for another kiss.

she smiled, letting go of his hand and wrapping her arms around his neck.

the two were finally together after such a long time and they couldn't have wanted it any other way

well besides just confessing and being together immediately but...this works too
