sunghoon ran through the crowd of students leaving the auditorium after the show ended.
sunghoon ran to the entrance only to see no one was there. he stood there, hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath.
he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around quickly only to see a shorter girl standing there, "saerom.."
"hello sunghoon" she greeted him
"did you watch the performance?" he asked her
she nodded, "you guys all did good. congrats on first place as well"
"thank you. i'm glad you were able to make it" sunghoon smiled at the girl
"just curious though..why'd you invite me? we don't really talk except to congratulate each other" saerom was very curious to this
"i-i just wanted to do so.." he chuckled nervously knowing damn well why he wanted to but even the boy was confused to what he was feeling.
saerom was going to respond until she looked back sunghoon and saw a girl and boy walking out together.
the back of the girl's head looked so familiar to her. the girl walking suddenly dropped her wallet but the girl had yet to notice and neither did the guy walking beside her.
"saerom are you-"
saerom jogged over to her wallet, picking it up and going over to the two. she tapped on the girl's shoulder and the girl turned around which caused the boy to do so as well.
saerom recognized the girl immediately as soovin.
"you dropped your wallet" she held it out for her, "didn't want you to lose it
sunghoon came up to the three, standing beside saerom.
sunghoon looked at jake as if asking him 'what's happening' but the boy simply shrugged
soovin was frozen for a second before jake nudged her, "a-ah..thank you" soovin took her wallet, her hand brushing against saerom's and her heart thumping against her chest

jake could sense soovin's nervous state and was slowly connecting pieces together but he wouldn't pry about it.
"did you go to..my school by any chance?" saerom proceeded to ask soovin and the girl's mind immediately went blank at the thought, "you look like someone i used to know"
"uhm yah i used to go to your school but i transferred here" soovin answered her quickly
"ahh okay" saerom bowed her head lowly, "see you another time" she turned to look at sunghoon, "i'll see you another day as well sunghoon"
"alright. thank you for coming" she nodded before walking past the two
soovin felt all sweaty and her heart was racing against her chest. all her feelings of the girl were coming back even though she thought she had lost them when she transferred but seeing her right in front of her made her feel weird.
"i need to go. i'll see you guys later" soovin quickly turned around and began walking away from the boys
"soovin! get home safe okay?" jake shouted towards her but she just ignored it and continued to walk away
"should we check up on her?" sunghoon asked the boy
jake sighed and shook her head, "she'll tell us what's wrong on her own time. now let's get back to our friends"
sunghoon just nodded before the two walked back
"hey sunghoon" sunghoon hmmed as jake began another conversation, "i think i'm going to just let go of yuna"
"really?" sunghoon responded a bit of shock in his voice
"i just feel bad and i need to move on. i was denying my feelings the whole beginning of our friendship and the years after that because i refused to believe that she even liked me then i went onto to soovin and i grew infatuated with her only for us to not even have feelings like that for each other and yuna helped me with those dates because my dumbass didn't realize her feelings and now she's with heeseung and i don't want to ruin it. it's my fault for realizing how i feel too late" jake explained everything to the boy and sunghoon understood how he was feeling
"whatever you do jake, i support you" sunghoon patted his shoulder

Northwoods Trapper
In the wild places of our planet, dark vestiges of our paranormal past yet cling to twisted life. In the past, the hunters and trappers of the world were tasked with removing such blights from society's fringes - legal assassins, enlisted to enforce the will of civilization against those unnatural, otherworldly hosts. Nowadays, we're not so lucky. With the idea of proper monster-hunting fading from public perception, the once-prestigious mantle is donned by amateurs, hobbyists, and self-taught warriors. It pays poorly, it's dangerous, and people would rather do something that gets them rich or famous or drowning in attention. Most often, new-age monster hunters are born from tragedy. They lack the tact, training, and funding of hunters passed. Instead, they have only their wits and brawn to carry them through. So it is with our hero. In the woods of the American Midwest, foul creatures lurk. Tabitha Varna, a young college drop-out scarred by her past, is determined to uproot them or die trying. Sometimes she hopes for both.[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
